Im not sure what to expect at this site. If its an ecommerce site you need more products, shopping cart etc. But then i notice you have an amazon link... Thats just strange... You need to be consistent in the site and only drive the traffic one way.

so the amazon link doesn't go? This is an affiliate site.

It looks like a good longtail keyword. Just keep backlinking.

Yeah, add more quality content. Right now its sort of a billboard > every post is selling a heating unit. Why not create content that someone would want to link to as a reference. Maybe a comparison of heating units, their market price, customer rating and wattage? Or perhaps articles on choosing the right heating unit for your space. Put up some good new content on a regular basis and keep up with the backlinking. Also, what are you doing for backlinking?

Sounds great! well for backlinking. I bought like 75 profile links from fiverr. they were supposedly pinged but like hardly none show up in my backlink checker. I have written like 3 articles but submitted each one to about 7 directories. I did free traffic system for about 60 links. I have this site in my siggy here on about 100 or so warrior forum posts and some digital point posts and I did a bit of blog commenting.

Should I continue with the site do you think? The exact keyword match on page 1 of google (my competition has just a little over 1,000 backlinks...is that too competitive? Should I try to build another site with less comp?

    HI,

I think your site looks good. If you type "electric heaters for home" you will see 19,600 results - not much competition at all and should not be too hard to rank for.

I also noticed something cool when i did that search: all the sites on the first page are sites that you can post content to!

    The first two are ezinearticles.com, the next is epinions.com, then productreviewratings.com, then associatedcontent.com, then hubpages.com, then articlesbase.com, buzzle.com, ideamarketers.com, goarticles.com...etc....etc..

This means you should also be able to rank on page 1 or at least get your link on these other sites and maybe show on page 1 multiple times!

I would submit some articles and press releases to those sites and also do some social bookmarking too.

To get some juice to your site, consider doing a simple powerpoint video and posting it to the different video sites for free with tubemogul.com

You should be able to instantly show on page 1 with video since none others are.

Bookmark all the content you post and then ping the bookmarks.

You can always find warrior willing to do these different things for pretty cheap. There are even warriors selling thousands of backlinks which you could probably just buy 2,000 backlinks and out-rank your competition that way too.

On top of what others have said, I'm going to guess that "electric heaters for homes" is a seasonal niche. What I mean is, very few people are going to be searching for electric heaters for their house in the middle of August.

    In the winter, however...

what's wrong with the keyword optimization. I've got the keyword in the title and the permalinks are good....

First place you can start is you keyword ratios are way blow out compared to the top 10 results on that keyword phrase. These ratios are compared to the total word count on your page, which is VERY small.

It's all kinds of ratio's and statistics that would lead me to believe your site is keyword spamming. Again this is just for starters. I would suggest you get an SEO person on Elance, oDesk or something and go over your page.

Again you asked for opinions so this is just my opinion.

ok can someone tell me what to do about the keyword optimization. What do I need to do? I'd rather learn for myself than hire someone.

Nice long tail key phrase. you need to do good back linking for your site until your site rank well in the search engine!
