hi

i want somebody to critique my writing skill. i know im not the best article writer right now, thats why im not charging $25-35 per article and im not a native english. but i do speak and write in english all of the time.

im hoping to diversify my portfolio into writing articles and i believe its something i can do if i got the right motivation. thats why im posting this thread so that warriors can critique my writing and tell me how good or bad i am.

this is a sample of one of my article

"HOW TO PUMP MASSIVE TARGETED TRAFFIC TO YOUR OPT IN BOX

Pumping massive targeted traffic to you opt - in box requires that you will have a website that your traffic will be sent to. If any business is to survive the competitive battleground of internet marketing then having a targeted massive traffic to your website is the answer.

There have been many books that have been written explaining how and where to get a targeted traffic to ailing website. Some have proffers solution with the free traffic methods while some also believe that using the two traffic generating method will be better.

In this article I will be revealing my secret methods to pumping laser targeted traffic to your website in no time.

The first step to build your email list through targeted traffic is to create a highly targeted keywords and phrase that applies to what you want to promote and to your niche. The steps include using free Google tool like the Google keyword external tool, you can as well use some others that are not free but don't cost a single penny.

Many marketers that tend to skip this first step to build their email business are quick to suffer huge losses in profits

The second step is to format your keywords to traffic generating questions. Formatting your keywords is a very good way to siphon laser targeted traffic to your website in minutes.

Using internet marketing questions is another good way to generate consistent traffic to your website which many marketers fail to use when building their online business. Strategically design question that contains your top keywords or keyword phrase can be extremely effective when it comes to driving massive traffic to websites in record time

But most importantly these keyword laden questions are also design to attract laser targeted traffic of potential buyers that are looking for the exact solution your product can provide.

The last step to mention involve maximizing the return on your website to compliment the work you did earlier. In other words you have to tie every steps I have mentioned together so that it will form a constant gushing of fresh laser targeted traffic which in turn can impact positively on your online business in minutes.

In summary pumping massive targeted traffic to your opt in box requires that you already have a website and using rich keyword questions to generate massive traffic to the website is very necessary if you want to build a massive email list with your traffic, and maximizing every returns on your website to massive cash dumping ground

You did say to be honest, so I hope you take this in the spirit it is given. I wouldn't pay anything for this piece for three reasons:

There are far too many grammatical errors and it's very clearly written by a non-native English speaker.

Some things don't make sense, i.e. "that are not free but don't cost a single penny".

The article takes over 400 words to say find keywords and turn them into questions.

That being said, I'm not saying that you couldn't find a market because I've seen far worse articles up on the web. However, you would have to charge very low rates and I doubt that it would be worth your time.

    Sorry,
    Tina

Yes, you're right on target Tina. But not only is it a so-so effort by a non-native English speaker, it does not embody any sales psychology. It's DOA.

It is true that you can find far worse articles out there, but that does not excuse them. IM people need to stop trying to see how little they can pay writers and focus on investing in some credible copy.

I do have some constructive criticism for you, but first I'd like to congratulate you on being able to write this article in a 2nd language. I'm sure it can be a lot of work

It looks like you are focusing on the keyword "targeted traffic" ? It looks like you have good keyword density, but I'd recommend running this through a keyword tool to be sure. Live Keyword Analysis works well.

I would not pay $25 or $30 for this article or ANY article. I'd say start posting your article writing services on Fiverr and see how that works out. I know several people who get their articles written on fiverr for $5 and are happy with the results. So you see the competition is undercutting you already.

One last thing, while your article is readable it has several places where the sentences don't flow correctly. An example is "where to get a targeted traffic to ailing website" I would re-write this to say "how to get targeted traffic to an ailing website" A great tool for checking how readable an article may be is called "Flesch Reading Ease" and it's a part of Microsoft Word. Here's some directions how to use it.

Have you considered writing articles for yourself? What I mean is instead of selling them why don't you write articles for a specific niche and use them to drive traffic to a squeeze page or affiliate offer? You'll make money that way and hone your writing skills. The real test of a "good" or "bad" writer is this- Do people read the article and take the appropriate action? It doesn't matter if someone likes or hates an article as long as they read it and then do something.
Hope this was helpful to you.

    Hi Mrs Spencer,

Well, I think brutal honesty is in order here. Before I do that I'd like to say that for someone whose main language is not English, it's a very good start. I for one couldn't begin an article in any other language.

    hi

i want somebody to critique my writing skill. i know im not the best article writer right now, thats why im not charging $25-35 per article and im not a native english. but i do speak and write in english all of the time.
First off, all new sentences start with capital letters. All decent articles need to be grammatically correct.

There have been many books that have been written explaining how and where to get a targeted traffic to ailing website. Some have proffers solution with the free traffic methods while some also believe that using the two traffic generating method will be better.
There are also basic English errors here in terms of how you've phrased things. For example "where to get a targeted traffic" should be "where to get targeted traffic". "Some have proffers solution with" would sound better as "there is a solution with"

This trend is the same throughout. I do the IM for a large company that sets up companies in Europe for people. I have opposite numbers in Spain, Italy etc. These people write articles and I "correct" them for them. It's not easy for you or them as I believe the way things translate often comes out wrong. This would be good for you, to have a native English speaker that could correct any of these mistakes and show you the correct way of saying things. This way you learn and get a correct article at the same time. Both the Italian and Spanish lady have successfully submitted there articles to EZA and the quality and grammar of the articles get better and better. The Italian lady had just two errors in her article today as opposed to 20 or 30 when she began.

Don't take this the wrong way because I admire you for trying so hard and this is not to say you couldn't improve this quite quickly. Personally I wouldn't pay for this particular article but I'm a bit fussy like that.

Well done for trying though and do not be disheartened, I'm saying this only with the aim of helping you.

The article is ok if you are just writing for an understandable article. If you want a quality article you need to watch the adjectives and adverbs, way too many of them. Also some of the descriptive phrases you’re using are not really correct (doesn’t properly fit what you’re trying to say).

Again if you’re just looking to product articles for content posting and not worrying about quality it’s better than some I’ve seen.

As for paying for it sorry I wouldn’t.

      Mrs Spencer,

The longer the sentence you try to write, the more problematic grammar becomes.

Your grammar level is actually pretty good (speaking from 20 years' TEFL experience) but you have made life difficult for yourself by trying to write overelaborate sentences.

Apply the principle of K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) and you won't need to study much grammar.

my first teacher once told me to write as my thought will permit me. and i try to do that.probably thats where the "overelaborate sentence" comes in.

Absolutely there are. But I believe they are overcharging. If you can get a quality article written for $5 why pay someone else $25-30? My personal opinion is that they charge so much because of greed and people don't search enough to find cheaper writers.

Thats not strictly true. They charge that much because people are willing to pay that much.

I know a few people here that have and still do charge way more than that. They are very well respected people here, who you will know. One person used to charge $70 an hour. This person no longer takes on jobs because writing for themself is way more profitable.

So, if someone makes more money with their articles, so much more that they turn away $70 an hour work, that makes them very much worth paying for. It's all relevant, the better the writer the more it costs.

You are extremely lucky to get such high quality articles for less than a beer.

I agree that people are willing to pay that much, but I feel the reason for that is impatience. If they took a little bit of time and shopped around, they could find people who can write just as good an article for a lot less. It's a trend we humans have fallen into especially in this fast paced world we live in. A huge percentage of people will stop at the first place they see what they are looking for any pay the asking price. I do it quite often myself. But if we all shopped around before purchasing anything, whether it be online or offline, we could all get a better price for what we wanted. If those guys selling for such a big profit see that everyone is going to the guys who are charging a lot less, what are they going to do? Lower their prices also to compete. Their quality of work should get them the customers every time if they are charging the same price, and in fact they may actually get more customers because of their lower costs. More buyers at a lower cost beats less buys at a huge cost.

The thing is Mike, I know a guy who can knock out an article in a couple of hours for me including research and delivery, he charges me $15. He's very good. However, I can't see someone writing an article for $70 an hour necessarily doing it faster? In fact I'd be expecting a masterpiece, not just an excellent article. I'd expect them to take their time.

I actually think it's impatience that leads (and I agree not in your case) the average person to pay much less. They want it done fast and cheap. That's the trend humans have fallen for in this fast paced world. In my opinion.

I am quite frankly offended by this statement. How is it greedy to want to be paid a fair price for your work?

But IMers who package up some crap PLR product and sell it for $97 are just being smart business people. IMers selling SEO to brick and mortar businesses feel perfectly justified in charging $997 for a few backlinks and a submission to Google Places.

          The hypocrisy is stunning.

Do you see me selling anything for $997 or even $97 for that matter? Please don't call me a hypocrite without evidence to back your claim.

My greed claim also stems to the so called guru's who do charge prices like you say. In my mind 99% of those courses are nowhere near worth as much as they claim. It's just a selling tactic. You can find just as good a product here, if not even better than most of those guru's are selling for a much better price.

Umm, I don't consider myself greedy, given I have a 5 year university degree with honors in my niche, 20 years of professional on the job experience in my niche, access to professional resources not available to those who trawl google and wikipedia for their research, and darned good writing skills.

People are willing to pay that much, and more. Only once have I seen a $5 article that I'd put directly on any of my sites without rewriting it. It depends on standards. Mine are very high.

Greed? No offense, but do you have any idea how long it takes to write a good article? By a good article, I mean one that is well-researched and readable. Sure, you can pay $5 for an article and get something grammatically correct. Whether or not it is factually correct is another matter.

It's not greed that compels someone to charge $25 for an article. It's common sense. You can't make a living writing articles for $5 unless you know the topics very well, you live in a third-world country, or you don't research very well. This is especially true if you're writing about difficult topics.

I have written $5 articles, and even cheaper. I have also written $50 articles. The difference is that the more expensive articles involve hours of careful research. If you want factually correct articles, you're not likely to get them for $5 unless they contain very basic information, or they are rewritten from another source.

            Mrs. Spencer,

Congrats for your decision to attack this task!

I really understand you because english is not my first language neither, and I feel too limited using it.

It's really hard to me, because I'm an excellent writer and even a public speaker in my native language, but in english I have not enough words to say what I want to!

I suggest you a piece of software which was very useful for me in order to proofread my texts: www.whitesmoke.com

It can't catch 100% of the grammatical errors, of course, but I'm pretty sure it could point you out 95% of the mistakes you made in your example article. It's that good.

Another tip: never rely on Google Traductor or similar software. It's useful to see the meaning of individual words, but it almost always mess it up when you're traslating whole sentences/phrases.

What I do recommend is a single and effective method: If you are unsure how a phrase should be written, just go to google.com and write the two options you have in mind (one at a time) between quotes and do a search.

The form that shows more results in the SERP for an exact match search is more often than not the good way to say that ;-)

            Hope this helps,

            Leonardo

BTW, even when Google Translator can help to get the meaning of individual words, it only show a few of them.

I use a tool it's really powerful not only for non native speakers but for all writers. Take a look at this because it's really unexpensive and could be a big help to find that elusive word we're looking for desperately: www.visualthesaurus.com

I just love the way it connect the english words like a neural network!

There are but they're also very good. I know an excellent article writer, well two I've used here in fact, that charge just $15 an article. These articles are good enough to generate me money.

I know a couple of people here that charge $70-$150+, and way more sometimes, per hour. The problem is they're excellent, not just grammatically but in the sheer psychology they use in the articles.

Although this can be learned I believe with a couple I know, this is an innate skill. I'm sure with all the time in the world I could get close(ish) but I don't have all the time in the world to try.

Very true. My wife knows nothing about IM. She guests writes for a blog and they pay her $20-$25 per post. They accept every post she writes. I would say the posts are between 150 and 300 words. Of course she is writing on a topic that she is practically an expert about.

I wouldn't mind paying that amount at all. Matter of fact, I am paying some of my writers more than this amount to write an article. Why?

You can simply see the difference in between a writer that I pay $5 per article and the writer that I pay $50 article.

Can I find good writers for cheaper than this? Absolutely yes. But when I spend $5k+ on a website, I don't mind paying an extra $200-500+ to get decent content written for my site

You are in the ballpark, but not yet ready to offer your writing services for money.

I think Martin has provided you with some good resources to use. You have to work a lot on grammar and sentence flow. The best thing for you to do right now is to practice writing a lot articles. You can even go to an article directory and copy well written articles by hand, so you get a feel for how to create well structured sentences. This is a trick that copywriters do (only they hand copy other sales copy). Only use this technique for practice, though.

Because English isn't your native tongue, you'll need to work really hard to improve, but if you stay dedicated, you can get better with time.

    Good luck.

internet marketing is not so much a choice in my part of the world. im only fortunate to have a computer in my house. so nobody knows what a plr is or why i should start to write articles for them.

So, if someone makes more money with their articles, so much more that they turn away $70 an hour work, that makes them very much worth paying for. It's all relevant, the better the writer the more it costs.

You are extremely lucky to get such high quality articles for less than a beer.
i want to agree with you. if im good at what i do, then i can as well ask for whatever i believe i deserve.

besides paying so much for an article differentiate you from the rest.

Well it's a good thing we all see things in a different perspective otherwise we'd all be robots.

But yes, I think if someone can pop out an article in say a couple of hours compared to someone who will take a day, then absolutely they can charge more. But only if the quality is good. So I guess it all comes down to quality x speed = price.

Why does the pricing issue cause such emotion? Every service under the sun has widely varying prices from restaurants to cleaners to car valeting to dog minding to, well whatever.

    The seller publishes her price.

The buyer chooses if she wants to pay it.

    End of story.

Your article isn't horrible, but you are using too many words, and your English could be better. When buying articles it's always annoying when I have to delete 2/3 of the words, ending up paying a lot more than I was planning to. "K.I.S.S" is something you should keep in mind when writing.

When it comes to improving your English; have you tried reading books in English? This could help you get a better understanding of how to build up sentences.

How much your article is worth?
There are always someone willing to pay for unique content.
Personally I would offer half the amount I'd pay a writer who delivered articles in perfect English. This because of the extra time I'd spend editing.

    Hello Mrs. Spencer,

Your article is good and the ideas are there, but sad to say that there are a lot of grammatical errors in it. You should have gone through careful editing. Read your article several times before submitting it. Editing is one important step in the writing process in order to come up with the most readable and understandable write-up.

If I'm your client, I'd give you $5 for your article and maybe I would let you rewrite the article.

Structure your article: Beginning - Middle - End.

Mrs. Spencer: Writing grammatically correct articles in English is a daunting task, even for native-speaking English writers. I admire your ambition! However, from the sample you presented here my advice to you would be to find a proof-reader who can make grammatical and syntactical corrections, and who would advise you about the idioms and colloquialisms used by native English speakers and writers.

    For example:

    You write:

i want somebody to critique my writing skill. i know im not the best article writer right now, thats why im not charging $25-35 per article and im not a native english. but i do speak and write in english all of the time.

im hoping to diversify my portfolio into writing articles and i believe its something i can do if i got the right motivation. thats why im posting this thread so that warriors can critique my writing and tell me how good or bad i am.

this is a sample of one of my article

The correct syntactical and grammatical structure would be:

I want somebody to critique my writing skill. I know that I'm not the best article writer right now. That's why I'm not charging $25-35 per article. I'm not a native English speaker but I do speak and write in English all the time.

I'm hoping to diversify my portfolio by writing articles. I believe it's something I can do, as I have the right motivation. That's why I'm posting this thread so that warriors can critique my writing and tell me how good or bad my writing is.

This is a sample of one of my articles. (This sentence could be written: This a sample article.)

I have edited your article to show you the way I would present the information. Everyone, of course, would edit someone else's writing a bit differently. (And keep in mind that it is late, I am tired and I didn't spend a lot of time with the revision.)

However, here is a quick sample of how I would re-write the article you posted above:

HOW TO PUMP MASSIVE TARGETED TRAFFIC TO YOUR OPT-IN BOX

Businesses wanting to survive the competitive battleground of Internet Marketing need to have massive, targeted traffic driven to their websites in order to succeed. In order to pump massive, targeted traffic to your opt-in box, you need an excellent niche website to send that traffic to.

There are many books that explain how and where to get targeted traffic to ailing websites. Some proffer solutions with free traffic methods; others believe using two traffic generation methods are better.

In this article I will reveal my secret methods for pumping laser-targeted traffic to your website in no time.

The first step is building your email list through targeted traffic. You do this by creating highly targeted keywords and phrases that apply to what you are promoting in your niche. Also, you can build your list by using free tools such as Google’s external keyword tool. There are other keyword tools that you can use which are not free, but that are well worth the investment. Many marketers who skip the first step of building their email lists tend to suffer huge, long-term losses in profits.

The second step is formatting your keywords as traffic generating questions. Formatting keywords as questions is a very good way to drive laser-targeted traffic to your website in minutes.

Using questions is a good way to generate consistent traffic to your website. Many marketers fail to use this technique when building their online business. Strategically designed questions that contain your top keywords or keyword phrases are extremely effective when it comes to driving massive traffic to your website in record time.

But most importantly, these keyword-laden questions are also designed to attract targeted traffic from potential buyers who are looking for the exact solution your product can provide.

The last step required to maximize targeted traffic to your website complements your earlier work. You need to tie together every step I have mentioned so that these steps will work together to generate massive, targeted traffic, which in turn, will impact your online business in a very short time.

To summarize, driving massive, targeted traffic to your opt-in box requires that you have a website and that you use keyword-rich questions to generate traffic to the website. These steps are necessary for building a massive email list with targeted traffic. By so doing you will maximize the returns on your website and generate the cash flow you desire.

Edited to add: The above re-write does not address the accuracy or value of the information you present in this article. For example, the sentence quoted below is very ambiguous. You jump from driving laser-target traffic to a website to building a list, without any bridge between the topics or details of the techniques required to accomplish this.

The first step is building your email list through targeted traffic.
If you are using targeted traffic to build an email list, you need to expound on how to use that targeted traffic to build a list. However, the point of your article is how to drive massive, laser-target traffic to a website, not how to use traffic to build a list.

However, after running the article through Copyscape I have a pretty good idea of the product you are trying to promote by writing this.

Please don't let this lengthy critique discourage you. You'll find excellent information here on the Warrior Forum, and lots of Warriors who will give you good advice. There are many links and posts on the forum concerning article writing, and so much more. You are to be commended for your efforts! Keep on writing - you will improve with every single article you write, same as every other writer here on the forum!

yes most of my books were proofread every time im putting it to offer.
but i was thinking of doing this myself. ive set myself up for this task,i believe it wont be easy but i have an edge in the sense that i can speak the language fairly and i can write but im hoping to gather more experience in constructing my thought into a readable format.

Hi Mrs. Spencer! Yeah, others already mentioned KISS (Keep It Short and Simple), and that's a key element to consider when writing. For instance, a sentence should be formatted this way: Subject here verb or linking verb here predicate here. Example: The boy is running. Another Example: Doing this will solve this problem. Simpler, easier to understand, direct. You can make it even simpler by keeping this in mind: 1-1, 1-1, 3-5-7 = One paragraph, one main concept. One sentence, one thought. A paragraph has around 3 to 5 sentences, and a sentence around 7 words. Keep It Short and Simple, simplified further.

Another Key Element = The benefits the content will provide both the target reader and the author. In comes A.I.D.A. = Attention Interest Desire Action. Grab their attention. Keep them interested in reading the content by informing, educating and entertaining them. Make them desire what you need them to think they need and want for their benefit as well as your own benefit. Reinforce what they already want to most likely do at this point by reminding them to act the way you want them to, for your benefit and theirs. A summarry paragraph can be formatted this way:

Claim. Proof 1. Proof 2. Proof 3. Action.

    Example

The Philippines is a beautiful country. It offers exciting island beaches and warm tropical weather. Filipinos are kind and hospitable. Its economy is booming due to ICT (Information & Communications Technology) and outsourcing. Visiting this country will surely be a beneficial experience, be it for leisure or business.

Following paragraphs can then be formatted this way:

World class accomodations and amenities are available in its top island beach resorts. Proof 1. Proof 2. Proof 3. Action.

Filipinos are known for their kind spirited personality. Proof 1. Proof 2. Proof 3. Action.

The Philippines is now the premiere ICT and marketing outsourcing hub of the world. Proof 1. Proof 2. Proof 3. Action.

As you can see, each sentence of the summarry paragraph is specified further, used as the topic sentences of each paragraph, then proven with the "proof" sentences to be factual, and the reader is finally reminded to act accordingly by the "action" sentences at the end of each paragraph. For optimal efficacy, I suggest this to be the format of the last paragraph of the sample above:

Action. Tip 1. Tip 2. Tip 3. Tip 4. Action.

    Example

Going to the Philippines with your friends and family won't surely be something you'd want to miss. Consult your local travel agents for the best travel deals and vacation packages. Talk to Philippine business consultants and tax lawyers before investing in the Philippines. Ask your friends and colleagues with relevant overseas travel and business experience. Initially list down updated contact details and addresses of helpful Philippine government agencies and private contacts. Doing these will conveniently improve your Philippine travel and business experience.

Possible links to pages offering updated, helpful supplementary information and advice offering benefits not found in the sample content above can be anchored by "best travel deals", "vacation packages", "Philippine business consultants", "tax lawyers", "relevant overseas travel and business experience" (could point to a post on your blog discussing your relevant overseas travel and business experience), "Philippine government agencies" (could point to a page on your site with a sign up download of an updated list of Philippine government agencies and their contact details) and "Philippine travel and business".

Hope this free guide can be helpful in improving your softsell and hardsell content marketing writing skills.

Anyway, since the topic of "pricing" has been discussed here, I can't stop myself from commenting about this, possibly because I'm a market fundamentalist.

The market, both consumer and supplier, mostly dictates product/service/skill pricing in a free market economy. When demand is higher than supply, supply prices usually increase. When supply is greater than the demand, prices frequently lower down. When demand and supply are low, supply prices usually skyrocket.

There are the low price, low quality buyer and supplier markets. There are the mid price, mid quality buyer and supplier markets. There are the high price, high quality buyer and supplier markets. There are the ridiculously high price, limited avant garde quality buyer and supplier markets.

The low price-lo quality, mid price-mid quality, high price-high quality and ridiculously high price-limited avant garde quality are most likely founded on the common notion that price is directly proportional to quality. It should be, logically, because high quality materials and components must be used for the development of a high quality product/service/skill. This will obviously increase the pricing of that product/service/skill. However, this is not always the case, especially when branding, advertising, marketing and brand loyalty are considered.

Also, what is mid quality anyway? For instance, I won't buy above standard diesel if there were premium diesel and standard diesel options, especially if the difference is a few $$$, though I won't buy low standard diesel if this were available. Rather, I believe "quality" is directly proportional to the benefit and value a buyer gains from the product/service/skill, pricing of course being relevant.

For the low price-low quality suppliers, I think they should always improve their product/service/skill because in this buyer-supplier market, pricing is more relevant than quality. This means buyers will most likely be inclined to shop around for the lowest prices since they're expecting low quality, anyway, while possible competitor growth is inevitable and could rapidly increase. The supplier in this buyer-supplier market should weigh the resources necessary for constantly improving product/service/skill for the supplier to always have an edge over competitors, because competitors can always lower prices down, and it is easier to have the lowest prices than the best quality.

The supplier in this buyer-supplier market should weigh the resources necessary for constantly improving product/service/skill for the supplier to always have an edge over competitors, because competitors can always lower prices down, and it is easier to have the lowest prices than the best quality.

is there much difference from my previous and this.

WHY SOME WEBMASTERS FAILED TO PUMP LASER TARGETED LEADS TO THEIR UNPRODUCTIVE WEBSITE

The survival of every business involves a proper laser targeted leads. The reason many webmaster failed to get their website up and running is because they lack the necessary techniques to make their website a hub for traffic.

In this article I want to outline reasons why some unproductive webmasters failed to drive laser targeted traffic to their websites

The first reason and the most common is the notion from some webmasters that, their online presence and their website name is enough to make them all the money. So they mostly neglect prospecting targeted leads for their business. And this is very unprofessional and very unproductive.

Another reason is that many webmasters are only concerned with how much they will make from leads that opt in to their mailing box. Instead of what benefit their leads will enjoy from them they focused mainly on the monetary gains. This is not good for any business especially online business. [Where it is necessary for webmasters to first take care of their leads before expecting a good response from them].

Therefore, not knowing how to pump laser targeted traffic to your website can be the beginning of failure and bankruptcy in businesses. If a website lacks targeted leads it will stifle the growth of the business.

So, targeted traffic to website is the lifeline of every thriving business. To make website a hub of traffic webmasters should firstly consider the benefits they intend to give to their prospect, gone are those days where the webmasters only milk the prospect for money. Today thing are different, online visitors are open to many offers and can easily choose where their interest is of utmost important.

Conclusively, if you want a thriving website with targeted leads, the webmaster needs to consider giving useful benefits first before receiving".

    • Mrs. Spencer,

I noticed a big improvement in your most recent version. By using MS Word's grammar and spell checker, you can easily capture and correct minor grammatical errors. I also don't suggest using archaic terms or words which readers would most likely need a dictionary to understand its meaning. I recommend this solution: Let's start by writing an attention-grabbing title and a summarry paragraph. Let the content of the summarry paragraph, its sentences, contain the main outline of your article. Here is an example, without target keyword/s nor writing tone/style (we'll tackle that later):

Title: Top 3 Quickest Ways to Generate More Laser Targeted Traffic and Sales

Format of Summarry Paragraph: Claim. Proof 1. Proof 2. Proof 3. Action.

Summarry Paragraph Sentence 1: Generating more laser targeted traffic for your website using these top 3 methods will drastically increase the benefits you get as an Internet marketer.

As you can see, the sentence above is a claim. Now we need to prove that this claim is factually correct.

Summarry Paragraph Sentence 2: More than 70% of the world's adult population use the Internet on a daily basis, according to the Nov 2010 report of (enter appropriate credible global statistics surveyor company here), .

This proves the claim to be factually correct.

Summarry Paragraph Sentence 3: More than half of these people search for updated content which can help them solve their problems and satisfy their needs

      This further proves the claim.

Summarry Paragraph Sentence 4: This is why the (enter credible global business and economics statistics company here) projects a 300% increase in the Internet marketing campaigns of global businesses and corporations in the next couple of years.

      This again proves the claim.

Summarry Paragraph Last Sentence: Implementing these top 3 quickest ways to generate more traffic and sales for your online marketing campaigns will surely be beneficial for you.

This pushes readers to read the rest of the article.

So, we'll use more specific versions of sentence 2, 3 and 4 as the topic sentence of the succeeding paragraphs. Here's an outline:

More global Internet users translate to more traffic and sales for your business. Knowing where your target audience frequently hangs out on the Internet will help you expose your business name and content to a wider audience. Determining the top 10 or 20 domain and page results after searching for your target keywords using popular search engines is the 1st step you need to take. Contributing content useful and relevant to their needs and problems on these sites will establish the reputation of your business as a friendly expert source of useful content. Doing these along with the other things mentioned below will quickly funnel laser targeted traffic from these online places to your website.

Positioning your business as a provider of content with benefits not found on other online places will improve your sales. Studying the benefits offered by competing content developers, product manufacturers and service providers will help you make a list of lacking benefits which you can add to your content, products and services. Identifying your top competitors is the 1st step in learning about their content, products and services. Establishing beneficial relationships with other reputable businesses offering relevant content will help you gain more laser targeted traffic. Incorporating the search engine ranking strategies, mailing list building tips and content marketing techniques below will give your business the edge it needs over your competitors.

Helping your target viewers with their needs and problems will convert them to customers and repeat buyers. Offer free updated content on your website that's relevant and useful for their needs and problems. Point them to a page on your website where they can download supplemental content, get constant updates and access more content offering unique benefits after signing up to your mailing list. Enticing them to share their relevant experience in using your content, products and services will help other viewers make an informed decision. Regularly updating your website with more useful content providing unique benefits will constantly ensure the conversion of referrals from your existing viewers into additional buyers and mailing list members. Learning about more search engine ranking strategies, content marketing techniques and mailing list building tips will further improve the profitability of your business.

I see improvement but it definitely still needs work. Taking classes is a time-consuming investment. Yes they will be worth it in the long-run but won't help you any time soon. English is very difficult because it breaks it's own rules so frequently.

That being said, you DO have options to get started sooner. If you believe the article is worth $25, you can easily pay someone $5 to correct it for you. Your profit is now $20, if you only sold it once. Sell it twice and you've made $45.

Or, if you believe it's worth $7 you could easily find someone who you can pay $1 to correct the article. Your profit is then $6 if you only sell it once... sell it twice and you've made $13.

I'm sure that you could even find someone to correct your articles for you for free, if you allowed them to have a copy for themselves.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps you make some money!

By the way I am curious, why don't you just write the articles in your native language?

I like the idea of paying a portion to get a traditional English speaker to correct any mistakes.

The problem for me comes with another of your suggestions...

Why would I pay anything for an article if I knew the writer will re-sell the same article to someone else? I wouldn't pay a dime for that, not even from the best article writer. I'm paying for a unique article. They write the article for me, I pay for it. If they sell that article to someone else it's worth nothing to me. If she's creating PLR products, no problem, I know it's PLR in advance but if I suspected anyone I get to write my articles was reselling them, it'd be the last article I got from them.

I wouldn't recommend any newbie article writer to do this.

        Great point!
The thought came to me because this is how lead generation companies make their money-- they sell the same lead to several different companies and let them compete over it.

As a newbie, I never considered that selling the article to a second person would be bad, because I made the mistake of assuming that anyone who buys articles would change them to suit their needs anyway... To me, buying any articles seemed like a form of "PLR" and I never considered that some people may want to buy articles to use just exactly as they are written. Thanks for the tip!

No problem. I wasn't being rude but it's just not how it's done.

I pay good money for them to write it, I wouldn't expect them to resell it. I just didn't want the OP or others to think it was normal to do so. Like I said though, if it is PLR and she makes it clear about that, then she can resell it as often as she wants. I just don't think thats what she's aiming for. Have a good day.

Yep, never imagined it as being rude, note that I "thanked" you for it. If nobody corrected me then all of my learning would be very sloppy!

            Mrs. Spencer,
Don't ever give up, you're doing great. As your writing skills get stronger, do consider paying someone to correct things in the meantime... it will help you learn, too. In fact if you take classes/lessons, I'm sure that your teacher will be only too happy to earn some money on the side!

      thanks for your critique.
i actually will jump for joy if someone offers to pay $5 for such article.
it only mean I'm getting there.

i cant write in my native language for two reasons

1- after 26 years of sojourn away from where I'm from i now speak English better than my native language.

2- i don't know how many people will read my article if written in my native language.[language extinction i guess]

If you want to write for the English market one of the best ways to learn how to write in the "natural" speaking way is to start chatting with people that speak English as their native language.

You'll pick up the slang, the natural way people speak and your writing will begin to reflect that.

I suppose all anyone can say is, it's magic. If you read a lot, and write a lot, it just comes naturally (at least until you get really old and start to write purple.)

Until then though, it's pretty much magic. It's not really about the money sometimes. You write something, you hand it to someone, and then watch the expression on their faces change, that's part of it.

You write something on the Net, and someone goes "wow." That's part of it.

All this is part of it, the ability to sort of "hack" a mind and make people do things (like buy stuff) because of what you wrote. Marketers use terms like NLP for that, but for me it's just magic.

The whole idea of marketing is to make someone want, to encourage someone to act impulsively and irrationally. To find a vulnerability (called a 'niche') and exploit it to the full. Look around, and you will see what I mean, what're the most popular niches? weight loss, forex, dating and mortgage refinancing right?

They play into a shallow humanity's worst fears, that they are too fat, too lonely and too poor. Buy this, they say, and you will be slimmer, richer, happier and better looking. And so they do, and so the marketer gets paid.

    That's how it works.

most of the words [slangs] i come across in the mags are not easily understandable but now that you've mentioned it i will start reading them and study the pattern.

But I think you should try writing it more conversationally. Write like you're talking to a friend. Keep sentences short (I know, you got that K.I.S.S. already) and it'll read a lot better.
writing as if im talking to a friend and to keep the sentence short. NOTED!

    Mrs Spencer,

It's very brave of you to show your article here for critique. Not something I would be brave enough to do!

There has been detailed feedback about grammar and style, so I won't go into that.

A more basic question is what is the article for? Is it to distribute to 1000 article directories for a few backlinks? For that it is fine and ready to go. Such an article is probably worth $1/100 words, so $4.

For me to pay $25/article I would also want the article to be perfect (as mentioned by other Warriors) but also it must be interesting and a pleasure to read.

The title seems too hyped up and this continues in the body with hackneyed internet marketing phrases such as "laser targeted" and "secret methods". It puts me off reading it and seems full of jargon. If the article seemed to be genuinely helping me I'd personally forgive the occasional grammatical error (but not spelling mistake).

What I suggest is to regularly read American and/or British newspapers and magazines and work out how they make their articles interesting. American Mags are available around the world. After all they need to do this to sell the paper or they go out of business.

The main thing to remember is WIIFM "What's in it for me". There are some simple tricks, like mentioning something you'll gain from reading the article to the end.

E.g. "By the end of this article you'll know a free method that will take you 10 minutes and get 100 extra visitors to your squeeze page. Before I mention that let me give you some essential background in ...".

Best way of finding out if your articles will get through, is to simply submit them to Ezinearticles, as they scrutinize articles more than any other site, if you can pass the test of Ezinearticles, then your article will be welcome at any article directory (as long as the niche is allowed)

CrhisD: Loved your reference to old people writing 'purple.' Good One!

The term "purple prose" is derived from a reference by the Roman poet Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus, 65–8 BCE) who wrote in his Ars Poetica (lines 14-21):

Inceptis grauibus plerumque et magna professis
purpureus, late qui splendeat, unus et alter
adsuitur pannus, cum lucus et ara Dianae
et properantis aquae per amoenos ambitus agros
    aut flumen Rhenum aut pluuius describitur arcus;
sed nunc non erat his locus. Et fortasse cupressum
scis simulare; quid hoc, si fractis enatat exspes
    nauibus, aere dato qui pingitur?

"Your opening shows great promise, and yet flashy
    purple patches; as when describing
a sacred grove, or the altar of Diana,
or a stream meandering through fields,
    or the river Rhine, or a rainbow;
but this was not the place for them. If you can realistically render
a cypress tree, would you include one when commissioned to paint
a sailor in the midst of a shipwreck?"

Purpureus meant lustrous or dazzling in Horace's Latin. Purple dye was rare in the Ancient World, with only the wealthiest able to afford it (this is why purple robes and trim came to be associated with the Emperor and, later, European royalty). During the Roman Republic, social climbers would sew purple cloth onto cheaper clothing to give an appearance of wealth. This was regarded as pretentious and gaudy.

Horace was alluding to this practice, saying that passages marked by ornate rhetoric or elaborate poetic diction were like those "purple patches", ostentatious and inappropriate. Horace's advice was that a work should have a stylistic consistency appropriate to its subject matter.

Thanks... I was trying to prove a point actually, that you have to read a lot and write a lot. Actually part of it came from here

Warning: When I am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

And parts from Horace, of course and also from Shakespeare (who did this sort of thing a lot.)

      PS. I like your avatar

Another tip for how to improve your English is to read a lot of English! Published, in-print, classic books are the best if you can get a hold of them -- stuff like "To Kill a Mockingbird", "David Copperfield", and other famous English literary classics. (If you need suggestions on other classics, you can look online or PM me.)

A lot of the prose is fancier than you need to write, but understanding older English will make it easier to understand "modern" English, which in many ways is simplified but still has the same roots. Keep a dictionary nearby to look up words you don't know or search for them in Google if they're not in there, and if you struggle with a sentence or paragraph for a while and still don't get it, look up study notes for the book or just skip it and try to infer what they mean by the surrounding text.

The best writers are typically heavy readers, and I don't think that's a coincidence. The more English you read, particularly older novels which are likely to be more grammatically correct, the more you will absorb the sentence structure and language without even realizing it. It'll help you with basic issues like capitalization and grammar, all the way to tricky topics like learning which words imply meanings you might not have intended.

Of course, this is all longer-term, but it's a really good habit to get into, and one that I'm trying to return to so I can improve my own writing. I noticed that when I stop reading as much, my writing gets worse... when I read more, my writing gets better.

      • Mrs. Spencer,

Hi! I believe this free guide will be very helpful, both for starting an IM business and doing content writing/marketing online. Pardon the visual aesthetics of the site, I coded the site and have assigned a colleague to enhance its visual impact and navigability. I unfortunately cannot do visual improvements on my own because I am totally blind.

I have an idea for a possibly profitable Internet marketing campaign. You can most likely set up a blog and discuss the things you learned and will learn about Internet content writing and marketing on your blog. You can have a page on your blog with an opt-in mailing list subscription system, and you can offer free relevant and useful content on the page, downloadable upon sign up. The free downloadable content can be an ebook detailing what you have specifically learned and some of your own tips, inferences and interpretations of the things you've read about relevant topics. Of course, such free downloadable content should provide your target audience with benefits not found on your blog. This is also the case when you send emails to your mailing list subscribers about relevant updates, new content and affiliate products/services. You can also softsell market affiliate products/services on your blog posts, though mention those affiliate products/services and point them to the sales page using your affiliate links whenever it is necessary to do so. By "necessary", I mean it should be a time when your target audience will get more supplemental benefits from those affiliate products/services that are not found on your blog posts or free downloadable content. Of course, point them to the page with your free downloadable content and opt-in system when it is necessary to do so on your posts. Of course, you should do keyword research about such topics covered by your main categories/niches, which are content writing and Internet marketing. You can use this free keyword and competition research tool, which is something I programmed and have installed in this laptop I configured as a Web server. Sometimes, the tool won't be available because I could've turned my laptop off or could be experiencing Internet connection issues. It would also be rather slower than most Web applications since it uses my residential DSL Internet connection most of the time here in my home office, which isn't good in this part of the world. You can just type your main categories/niches in the provided text field then click the button. The tool will provide you with 6 data sections, namely:

        (1) global keyword search volume - number of times each keyword was searched for the past 30 days and the past 90 days;
        (2) global keyword competitor volume - number of times each keyword was searched by possible competitors for the past 30 days and the past 60 days;
        (3) strength of top 10 page results for each unquoted keyword search - a value (higher number = stronger) calculated using my own mathematical analysis, considering variables like Google PR, Alexa Rank, domain age and "domain authority" (number of backlinks of each page and its homepage along with the Google PR, domain age, Alexa Rank, number of backlinks and domain authority of the pages and domains where those backlinks are found);
        (4) strength of top 10 domain results for each unquoted keyword search - a value (higher number = stronger) calculated using my own mathematical analysis, considering variables like Google PR, Alexa Rank, domain age and "domain authority" (number of backlinks of each page and its homepage along with the Google PR, domain age, Alexa Rank, number of backlinks and domain authority of the pages and domains where those backlinks are found);
        (5) strength of top 10 competing page results for each quoted keyword search - a value (higher number = stronger) calculated using my own mathematical analysis, considering variables like Google PR, Alexa Rank, domain age and "domain authority" (number of backlinks of each page and its homepage along with the Google PR, domain age, Alexa Rank, number of backlinks and domain authority of the pages and domains where those backlinks are found); and
        (6) strength of top 10 competing domain results for each quoted keyword search - a value (higher number = stronger) calculated using my own mathematical analysis, considering variables like Google PR, Alexa Rank, domain age and "domain authority" (number of backlinks of each page and its homepage along with the Google PR, domain age, Alexa Rank, number of backlinks and domain authority of the pages and domains where those backlinks are found).

You can also use data sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 to determine which of your top 10 competing pages and domains allow content to be contributed by users so you can contribute useful and relevant content then expose links pointing to your blog pages offering supplemental content providing benefits not found on those pages nor on your contributed content. Also, you can contact the webmasters of those top 10 pages and domains in case they do not allow content contributions so you can ask them if they would accept content contributions in exchange for your links to be placed with your contributed content on those pages and homepages. Sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 can also be used to determine what your competitors are doing, where they market their sites/products/services, etc.

My purpose in suggesting this is for you to possibly earn while learning how to write Web content and market products/services/content on the Internet. This thread alone could most likely funnel targeted traffic to your blog. Perhaps a good topic slant = How can non-native English speakers write effective Web content and market products/services/content on the Internet, so your target audience would be non-native English speakers interested in writing English Web content to effectively market products/services/content online and earn income.

I don't have time to read your entire article or to read all the answers you had. However, I read the beginning, which was enough to show me that you need an editor.

English is my third language. Even though I write much better than you, I have an editor too. It is important to write well if you want to be taken seriously by your readers.

You can find a cheap editor at elance.com or odesk.com, so that he/she may correct your documents in the beginning. Study the corrections made in each article, and you'll gradually learn how to improve your writing skills.

    All the best!

    Hello mrs spencer,

It's a good start. Target to hit the $5 an article mark first. Do that for a few days, then move on to $7 per 500 words, and finally strike the $10 per 500 words mark. That's the price where you can find a decent amount of work every other day. You sure could improve by leaps & bounds and start to charge $25-$35 per article (and deservingly so), but that would take more than just improving your written English skills. We'll address that another day.

Here's another website I suggest my buddies, when they're getting started with enhancing their written English skills: Learn English Online: Free English Courses To Improve Your English

    I hope this helps

Neil, I think a lot of the emotional heat comes from the words and attitudes on both sides of the coin.

Buyers claim writers are moneygrubbers trying to grab the cash they worked hard to accomplish.

Sellers claim that buyers don't want to be fair to the sellers, and view their product as art.

Some buyers want fine art, and pay for it. Some buyers just want something to cover the whole in the wall as cheaply as possible. The two sides are talking about totally different things as if they were the same.

Mrs. Spencer, even best-selling writers have editors. So do top journalists. When a good editor gets done with your article, it will be correct. When a great one gets done, it will sound like it has never been edited - only better.
