Uggh... Ultimate Software Fail - Developers, does your software actually work?

In the past week and a half I have purchased (or attempted to purchase) 3 pieces of software, that plain just don't work. Worst part about all 3 of them is I didn't even get a chance to use them.

  1. A digital product delivery system - I purchased the program, paid via PayPal and was redirected to my membership page, which promptly informed me that I did not have the right to download the software because I was a free member.

If their system cannot properly deliver their product how can I expect it to deliver mine!

After 4 business days of no support, promptly disputed the transaction in Paypal.
  2. A PHP Licensing script - Purchased the script (again with PayPal), redirected to their site informing me that an email will be send with an activation code. Received code, entered it in their website, was informed that my product was available for download. Click the download link....Blank page.

Again, if there software does not properly deliver their software, is it safe for my customers... probably not!

Still waiting to hear back from customer support, will dispute in the next couple of days if not resolved.
  3. Help Desk software - Short story, I wanted to ask a question before purchasing, clicked through to the help desk and received a 404 error trying to register an account.
Absolutely unbelievable!

These were not "cheap" MRR products, these were "supposed" to be quality software solutions. I do not know if any of the sites actually used their own products (except the PHP licensing software, they were actually proud that they were selling the same product that they used to protect their scripts), but if they cannot accomplish the simple tasks they sell software for, how can anyone uses their software?

Ok enough venting, I have to go out and find additional software, so I can have my product out to my customers on time.

BTW, I solved my digital delivery system with a great ClickBank addon for RAP. So 1 down 2 to go.

James

I've had issues with purchasing software before. That's why it's always important to research the company you're buying from to make sure other people don't have similar complaints about their software and customer support.

Yeah sounds like a pain. Enough of a pain to make you rethink using Clickbank? I'm assuming of course that you have some reason to not use them.

If you're trying to sell info products, why not just do a Wordpress membership site, secure some pages and deliver the goods and customer service that way?

Miles, I actually planned on using RAP (and RAPBank) for the product delivery, but had some potential affiliates interested in ClickBank, plus it gets a wider array of affiliates.

The Clickbank issue is the only one I have solved at this point, if someone wants to recommend a good HelpDesk or PHP Licensing script I am all ears.

Unfortunately we live in a day and age (especially in IM land) where many products simply don't deliver what they promise or live up to the hype.

Gald to hear you solved one of your problems at least.

Good luck on the other two!
