Making Money With Wordpress Sites - Here is how I do it!

Wordpress is one of my best discoveries on the internet. This sweet platform makes me a good income regularly.

I build sites with wordpress, monetize them and flip them regularly.

How do I do it? Ok Let me share!!!

1. Finding Niches

There are tons of niches out there and I am shocked when people complain about having problems picking niches.

Just look around you whereever you are surrounded by money waiting to be made, niche waiting to be explored.

You sitting on a chair? Furniture niche
You On the bed? That's another niche
In the kitchen? Tons of niches to be exploited there
In the Car?

Clickbank
Browsing the Clickbank marketplace is also a favorite past time of mine, there are so many abandoned niches there that are very profitable.

Amazon

Amazon is also filled with thousands of niches, as there are hundreds of thousands of products

2. Narrowing it down to Keywords

Niches are a broad category of potential stuff to make money from. Narrowing it down is why we do keyword research.

Most people I know use the Google Keyword Tool- https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

And yes it works. It helps us to have a better understanding of how popular certain niches are.

So when I throw "Chair" into the tool, it gives me lots of keywords.

The temptation is to always go for the higher ones, I've read alot of stuff and 2000 and above seem to be the norm but from personal experience I've made lots of money from the not so popular niches.

3. Going Beyond The Popular

Here is what I usually do with less than popuplar keywords. I look for high commision items [digital products or physical] and believe me even if I target a keyword with just 200 monthly searches, I sometimes make more money than when I target the popular keywords with tons of seaches.

This is becos once, I rank well on search engines for this keyword, particularly get to number 1, even 50 visitors could mean $150, and when I flip the site, I sell for times 6 to times 12 of income made per month.

See how that works?

4. SEO

ONSITE

The most important SEO these days is Onsite SEO.

Tweak your site content to target your main keyword and related keywords.

Build extra pages and posts that focuses on the related keywords and Google sees you as a highly relevant authority in that niche.

OFFSITE

Offsite SEO shoudl alo not be taken from granted but ever since I lost crucial positions to sites with very few backlinks but great content. I have learnt to do meaningful backlinking.

THE MYTH: All backlinks are important! Are They?

Nothing could be farther from the truth. All backlinks are not equal.
.edu and .gov backlinks are popular these days as being very imortant. I agree with that.

But you must make sure your backlinking efforts are relevant.

Article Links work for me - Links from article directories
Forum profile links - They used to be very effective, but as always, when you have everybody doing the same thing, it is not as effective as it used to be.

Making forum links effective. Make sure you make a few posts, cos signature links seem to get better ranking results these days.

5. Traffic

Fastest way to pull in traffic to your sites is to submit some articles to article directories. Ezinearticles.com, Goarticles.com and articlesbase.com seem to get the best of results these days.

The beauty with article submission is that you get 2 benefits...

- Regular traffic with the articles submitted
- Regular backlinks, you get more backlinks as others publish your your articles elsewhere.

UPDATE:
What Kind Of Wordpress Sites Do I Build?

1. Wordpress with affiliate programs is perfect. I have a number of sites promoting affiliate programs.

What I usually do is set up an homepage with a review of the program or programs promoted.

Promoting 2 or more is always good, as people like having a choice.

I then create blog posts on keywords related to the niche the product is in and link the blog posts to the homepage/reviews

2. Wordpress for niche sites and monetizing with adsense and amazon is also awesome. I do this too.

Because wordpress is just so easy to tweak for seo purposes and update with fresh content, I love it!

FREE PLUGINS AND THEMES?

Wordpress is awesome for easy site building because of great themes and plugins available all over the web for download.

Most of the themes and plugins I use for my sites are free, so it really doesn't cost much to set up a good wordpress site.

Normal costs incurred usually are domain registration, hosting and content creation.

Free Themes - WordPress › Free WordPress Themes

Free Plugins - WordPress › WordPress Plugins

OK let me stop here for now.

Feel free to ask questions newbies
And experts feel free to correct me and add extra pointers

Cos we all need to help each other. As John Donne, once said, "No man is an island entire of himself"

I apologize if it sounds like I am rambling. Just poured the tips out as they came...

I appreciate the info. Very helpful. I am trying to use wordpress for affiliate marketing but I feel I'm not doing it right. How do you have your blog laid out, do you just review products and put a link so they can buy or do you have a seperate area for them to buy? Do you do a lot of posts and how many pages do you typically have? What gets them to buy? Do you build a list to re-target later? I am a little confused about how to lay out the blog to actually make money. Thanks for the great post and help.

Can you show some examples of what kind of sites you've made?

It would also really help a lot of newbies out if you can share: How you monetized them, why you picked those keywords, and how well certain pages are converting...

been battling with showing examples of my websites, mainly because people at times focus too much on such and everybody tries going for the same niche and that kinds of slow things down for everybody

That would be much appreciated. I want to stay with my own niches that I think I personally could do well with instead of copying someone elses niche. I want to make sure my layout is as good as possible for promoting affiliate stuff. Any example would be a great help for me. I have 2 wordpress sites "trying" to promote affiliate stuff but I need to learn how to do it the best way. Thanks for the help.

You definitely have a timeless strategy here that can be scaled up as far as you want to go. This is a numbers game after all, and not every site may be equally successful, but as long as you persevere and keep putting up these sites (tweaking and improving them as you go), you'll definitely see your income snowball over time.

The mistake many newbies make is that they give up after they see that the first one or two sites they build aren't getting any results. None of this stuff is guaranteed, and some of your sites may do far better than the others, but if you put up enough sites they'll all average out and you'll end up making a pretty nice amount per website.

    Great article you have. Indeed!

Anyway, I just tried the massive passive plugin if you are familiar w/ that you can actually make money. Then I used wordpress to do the work.

But right now I tried it to free webhosting services it just suspended my account.

I just have to test or try first a free webhosting before getting involved in paid hosting - if they can serve a free in the long run.

Does anyone tell me another best free hosting sites before I proceed to paid hosting sites?

This is good advice, free hosting sounds great initially but in the end you will want the better hosting and all the options it offers.

Not to mention you're far less likely to randomly loose your sites when they are on your own hosting account...you are in control, not someone else!

Great thread. Thanks for the details of your hard work premiuminvestor.

Bradlean - Weebly is a great free webhost with a paid upgrade if you want (i've never had to upgrade from the free version). I have several sites there and it is no problem to transfer if your website sells or whatever.

The drawback is that you can not do all the seo for each individual page. Having said that, it is possible to work around that to achieve ranking with the search engines.

      Cheers

          Hey Amy

I understand your point very well sis.

I've had sites that seem to require too much efforts and yield too little profits, I either change my keyword strategy with such or flip it for whatever is reasonable and just move on.

No use wasting time and effort on little or no profits.

I learn from it and come up with a new strategy for the niche.

One thing I have noticed is that niches vary, and you may need to come up with a specific strategy at times to profit well with certain niches.

Why don't you try paid hosting.

Hostgator.com offers cheap pricing per month. Infact you can get coupons to reduce it to $0.01 for the first month.

If you apply yourself you should make enough money to start paying monthly hosting fees easily.

    Hey bro

To flip websites, you basically have to make sure your sites are attractive enough to buyers. And I don't mean just having a beautiful site. I mean you show them the potential the site has and or the amount it has been making.

Selling sites that have already made money over time is very easy.

Just go to Flippa.com, it's free to register. You will find all kinds of buyers and sellers of sites there

    Hope I answered ur question

Brad, it seems like hostgator has really tightened up on its account validation procedures. I don't remember having to do anything of the sort when I signed up for hosting there several years ago. I imagine that a lot of it has to do with fraud prevention, especially since their affiliate program has become pretty popular over the past few years.

Low gravity doesn't really mean it is not profitable. To me it means fewer affiliates are promoting it, maybe bcos they tried with the wrong keywords or strategy in the past and got nothing to show for it.

If you get your keyword research right you can make money from even low gravity searches.

Like I pointed out in my current wso, it's all about finding the right niche that converts.

At times it means alot of testing before you get it right, but after that like I have discovered you will have even low gravity products that works for you

Low Gravity def. does NOT mean low sales... I know this from experience...
My latest CB product is extremely successful, however its gravity is stuck between 10-20... I don't like play "gravity tricks" like a few other CB'ers... Why risk getting banned...

Competition is the key factor in deciding a clickbank product unless you are a guru with a huge list. One thing that may help is to use cb-analytics.com

You can use pretty much whatever search parametes you want but the thing I look at is in the right side of the gravity box. If it shows Σ0K that means less than 1 thousand sales have been made. If the 0 shows as a 1 or higher then add 3 zeros and that's how far behind the eight ball you are on that product. I always look for the zero and I always avoid the saturated "guru" products. All kinds of hidden gems out there.

Low gravity might simply mean that the right person hasn't started marketing that product yet.

The method described is evergreen and it works.

Although I don't see in the OP anything that is really "WordPress"-specific.
If I don't know WP couldn't I follow this strategy with simple hand-coded HTML sites?

You could do it html. I've just found it easier and faster to set up with wp. I guess its more of a preference really. Anyone else have suggestions for using html for these types of sites?

Yeah Istvan, the method works for all kinds of sites.

I just find wordpress easy to tweak and update that I hardly have an html site anymore, most have been converted to wordpress.

May go back to build a couple anyway.

Just a wordpress addict and hey who am I to argue with results.

Plugins, themes and tools for wordpress make it too easy to ignore

I've been flipping sites for almost a year now and the income is decent-I guess. The market for newbie sites isn't nearly what it use to be when people were shelling out 3-500 for a turnkey site. Now your lucky if you get to 200. Plus the listing fees on Flippa are a little too much If I do say so myself. Now I'm just holding sites I've monetized to get some age and a little monthly cash-then sell. Has anyone had any success from selling anywhere else besides Flippa?

I understand the part that you prefer to build sites with WP... and I don't blame you

It was just the title of the thread and your OP - I had the impression you could leave out the word "WordPress" from the title and the post/method was still valid

Wordpress is awesome for easy site building because of great themes and plugins available all over the web for download.

Most of the themes and plugins I use for my sites are free, so it really doesn't cost much to set up a good wordpress site.

Normal costs incurred usually are domain registration, hosting and content creation.

    Thanks for your post!

Very interesting tactic to go for the lower than 2000 searched keywords.

So far the advise I've read is to go for articles that sell above the $150 when you do niche marketing. What is the lowest price article you sell with lower than 2000 seaches?
