I want to outsource traffic generation

Has anyone done this before? I currently have a guy that builds backlinks for me but I want another guy to just generate traffic for me using different strategies. What would this person be called?

I believe that would also fall under SEO.

Many SEO companies can handle adwords campaigns, content generation to be used for web 2.0 sites, etc.

Or it could segway into "paid advertising consultant" maybe.

I use people from the warriors for hire section, usually if they do one thing, they can and will pretty much do it all.

You can use virtual assistants from the Philippines. You can find some on Craigslits who will work for US 2.50 and hour. Also check out Elance, there are tons of SEO professionals on there and they usually lower their prices on Elance to get first time clients
      Good Luck!

I agree with Chris. Just make sure they build back links that are worth it. Pay Per Click is another good option. Don't listen to folks that say either or... DO BOTH. As long as whomever does it knows what they are doing. If you are serious about your business you do both.

I guess you would call them SEO clerks or "Paid Traffic"

Yup - people do this all the time.

You can scale up and have a whole team work on traffic - article writers, people who upload, SEO/backlink guys, bloggers...

I recommend you start small (one VA - virtual assistant) and then scale up.

The biggest thing, though, is that you need to train your VA really well. Not just a "go here and do this" - that will yield poor results, even if the person is good at what they do. (unless you buying from a company that provides results)

Instead, give them clear instructions on how you want it done (and if you like, ask for their input on things) - and then watch them closely.

Don't "fully hire" someone - make sure they have a 1 month probation period, in which you see the quality and speed you desire.

If they aren't living up to it after a month, let them go and find someone else.

It would fall under SEO. So, maybe SEO specialist.

Some of the backlink companies also offer services to send traffic. Ask any of the backlinks companies you currently use if they could recommend a service to you.

I guess they'd generally be called SEO experts/specialists. There is an offshore SEO/traffic company that seems to be pretty reputable called Traffic Sage (endorsed by Mike Filsaime). They are a little pricey, but apparently people have been getting good results with it - Traffic Sage - Website Promotion Made Easy!

I've got a team that does this until recently exclusively for me...

Just recently opened them up for a few key clients, let me know what you need and your budget and I'd be happy to help. They are good people.
