Paypal- reached Paypal Spending Limit ?

I have a note on my paypal address stating that I have reached my paypal limit

You've almost reached your PayPal sending limit. Lift your limit

But i have a credit card on my paypal account, and have been using this verified card fine for over a year, with regular weekly payments Going out (paying others)

Account type = basic, not connected to a debit card, but credit card

Question- howcome they are saying my spending limit is increased?
as one of the Lift your limit link suggestions suggests me to Link my paypal to a credit card. But I have already done this? I hav already done one of their requirements, so why is it saying me to connect my credit card as one option as i have already done it?

Question-
When the limit gets reached, will I not be able to use my account ?

After a certain amount of spend there is a verification process. They put a small deposit in your account and send you a code.

You enter these items and that clears your limit.

PayPal have various levels of account.

I always advise to go for the highest level possible (business verified?) because the hassles seem to lessen the higher up the ladder you get.

Yes, my experience too. The higher your status with them and the older the account, the less hassles.

As Ken and Neil have mentioned, what you want is a verified account. PayPal does this with your checking account - even if you are going to keep using a credit card.

During the verification process they will send two small payments to your checking account - might be 4 cents and 18 cents. Then you go online to your checking account to find out what those two amounts were. Next you tell PayPal how much these were, thus PayPal knows it is your account.

That's the process. Not much to it.

As well as being verified, I have found that going through the process of upgrading to a business from a personal account is also worthwhile to reduce the hassles you read so much about.

The reason being, I believe, that the various official processes you have to go through in setting up your business like company registration, tax, VAT (UK), business bank account application etc all give Paypal more confidence in you.

Neil, I remember setting up my business account but I don't remember the tax setup.

I do seem to remember them asking me where my wife worked. I thought that
was a little strange. Now that I think about it I haven't heard from her in a few
years. Umm, she probably had to work over time. Anyway, The PayPal
Business account is the way to go.

    Have a Great Day!

    Hi Michael

I meant the fact that you have to register your business with the government for corporation tax is another "brownie point" you earn with PayPal when they're trying to protect themselves from fraudsters.

Basically, they're riding on the back of all these external agencies doing their verification work for them.

    Cheers,

I've had both Paypal and my bank put limits on what I could spend
using debit cards... which sounds different from what you are
    talking about.

This is also different from your withdrawl limits.

I once went to make a substantial payment on a book
printing order... over $10k, and had Paypal and my bank
cards declined. Both should have gone through... both
had daily spending caps that I'd not previously bumped
    up against.

Paypal actually has lots of little limitations that you
may not know about. For example, my debit card will
work in the atm machines in the lobby of a hotel in
Vegas, but NOT on the casino floor... probably a good
    thing.

With Paypal, it never hurt to notify them when you will
be traveling, and be using you card a lot.

Despite the many complaints I hear regarding Paypal...
and they HAVE froze one of my accounts before, I
would have a hard time going through the day without
    them.

Maybe you should put a bank account on file...

I also encounter that...You can remove the limit by connecting your account to your bank...Until you are not connected to you're bank and you reach the limit you cannot transfer money but as far as I know you can received...^_^

  • Let me give you one simple advise if you want to use papal to the fullest of your needs. As you have said your account type is basic or which is referred as personal, so change/upgrade your account to that of business specially if you are a serious internet marketer. Hope this will alleviate your current problem.

I think you're still missing one verification step, and that is to verify your bank account. If you don't do that, I believe you will not be able to keep sending/receiving money once you hit your limit.

The best thing you can do now is call Paypal and ask exactly what you can do to lift your limits.
