Question about Google Webmaster Tools, Sitemaps, and indexing

Hello All,

After doing the appropriate keyword research, I've published a blog post that I want to rank highly in Google. After that, I updated my sitemap and resubmitted it to Google. In Google's Webmaster Tools, I can view the sitemap and the blog post is there. However when I search in Google for site:http:// www . mysite . com, the blog post is not shown.

I even pointed a link at the post from an article I wrote on Hubpages, and the link has the correct anchor text.

The blog post has been listed on my sitemap in Google Webmaster tools for about 3 days, and it does not show up at all in a Google search. Is this normal?

It just takes some time for posts to index. Google crawls pages before they index they - there is lag time.

As your site gets more backlinks you will find that new pages get indexed quicker and quicker. Send a handful of links to the page if you want to try and speed it up.

I submitted my sitemap to G over 3 wks ago and only have 3 url's indexed. Just be patient and keep building your blog and links.

Ive found Googles sitemaps a wonderful waste of time.

To get indexed quickly to go www.ismysiteindexed.com
To have your desired page crawled go to www.pingler.com

The rest, given proper keyword selection, should be gravy and potatoes
