Amazon affiliates - Question- Can you do country specific links?

Is it possible to have an amazon affiliate link that automatically links a person to the product on thier countries Amazon site?

I know that some websites can see your country of origin by IP adress and link you to the local site (ie google).

How do you other affiliates deal with this? I guess you just have to link to Amazon.com and lose out when people go out of it and go to thier local Amazon site?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stevie.

There are plugins that do localization, although there are issues involved there as well. If a significant amount of you traffic comes from different locations I suggest, placing flag graphics on your site for their locations and making location specific sites.

There is a plugin for this:

Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer Wordpress Plugin | Pete Williams

You have to sign up for each countries affiliate program and then add your ID's to the plugins setup page.

Thanks Getsmartt, i'm surprised Amazon haven't provided that facility as whenever I go to Amazon through a link I switch from .com to .co.uk so I can save on postage. It's a shame that whoever gave me the reccomendation doesn't get paid for that.

What is the deal with that other clown, is this some kind of automated BS attack on WF? The moderators haven't been dissing wikileaks or something have they?

The problem is some products (ASINs) are not available in all locations, some locations even have different ASIN's for the same product, so it can be difficult to automate.

Plus from Amazon's point of view, they make more money when you don't buy from an affiliate link

The other guy is just a troll, I am sure the mods are working on it. in the meantime click the little triangle with a ! below his name to report the posts, when enough people report them they disappear automatically.

One solution is to have a kind of IP based location detector when the user's session starts and then redirect the user to the page for the specific country. That being said, the ASINs are different for every country, so you will have a whole lot of work to do. Plus I dont think this method works well for search engine optimization.
