Product Launch Question - Yay or Nay?

Just looking for opinions on this one, as yes, I have already considered all the "common sense" angles. (Most anyway - Haha) I am quite excited to launch my next service to my niche, and I'd like to get it launched before the end of the year, as these are business owners who will be planning their marketing budget and plans for early January.

Part of me says: Launch it now as they are easier to reach this time of year and in hard core planning mode. Get the momentum going now!

The other half says:

Terrible time to launch as many will be out of town, with family, on vacation for the holidays etc. You'll lose momentum with your launch if it's within 1 week prior to Christmas, or even immediately after! Wait until after new year.

Tough mental battle going on there, and I have a lot at stake with this one, as it's my biggest launch yet. Really looking for opinions, or experience on this one. ANyone performed an end of the year launch? I see a video course launching right now, but again, that's in the IM world, and launched 2.5 - 3 weeks preior to Christmas. If I activate my launch video series now, it will fall on Monday, or Tuesday, the week of Christmas.

I have not been able to decide if that's a good thing or bad thing. All thoughts appreciated! Thank you.

There is no one more qualified to answer this question than the creator of the Product Launch formula himself, Jeff Walker. You will get your answer in this video Jeff made a couple of years ago.

If you've got momentum, I say go for it. If the timing proves to be poor, you can always re-launch or re-position the offer, but momentum is hard to recapture once lost.

You could even use the timing to your advantage by having a Christmas or New Years theme to the launch. Lots of opportunity for built-in deadlines ("available for the 12 days of Christmas only", "offer ends Dec 31, 2010") selling points ("what are you getting YOURSELF for Christmas this year?", "Christmas comes early this year for fast-movers", etc.)
