Should this be working now? Google, Digg and indexing

So I put up a new site. I keep searching "site:mydomain.com" but after two to three days the two social bookmarks I placed (Digg and Delicious) for articles on my site haven't shown up.

Am I missing something? Do they take longer? I'm going to be adding a lot more obviously, but still.

I ask because I thought it was a good idea to show backlinks from sites like these before beginning an adwords campaign as Google like it better...?

    The problem with social media sites and google is that google must find your link on their crawl...

    Sometimes your link will show up in the social media site -- between crawls, and therefore be overlooked and missed...

    Put a more permanent link on a site that gets crawled regularly -- for example, use your signature or blog at the Warrior Forum to set up a link to your domain.

    Google should find and crawl your site in a day or two at most...

    My site appears to be indexed, but I wanted links other than my site to show up when I search for my site.

    I thought that's what the bookmarks would do. So in the results, I'd see a result from Digg for example.

    Is this right? Do I have to ping the social sites or anything?

    It sounds like you want to search instead for: link:yoursite.com

    You can ping the social media sites, but pings have less value than links that google can find on its own...

    EDIT: Went through it. Totally what I needed. Now I have to go through it on a deeper level, take notes, and "get" it.

    Man, I'm jealous of you guys that do and get this without thinking.
