Has Anybody Linked A Personal Domain To A Blogger Blog?

I have a domain name that I want to put a site on. I am debating whether to build my own site in a WYSIWYG editor, or pay extra hosting costs and put up a Wordpress blog, or something I haven't heard much about here is directing my domain to a Blogger Blog.

Anybody use Blogger? Is there any reason not to, when compared to WP? I know that people have their favorites but does it REALLY matter?

I would prefer to use a blogging software as I really don't want the hassle of building my own site and all the linking, but just wondered which was better.

P.S. The domain will be used to sell an affiliate product/service, where I will drive traffic using article marketing. If this info helps the decision making?

    You can simply do a cloaked redirect to the blogger page.
  • Now for the more detailed analysis:

    Blogger vs WP.com

    If you are going to stick with which ever you choose it doesn't matter too much.

    But odds are even IF it is a good choice for you now to go with ones of these, you should still plan for growth.

    Will be a much simpler transition for you go to hosting yourself if you're already on WP than if you've been using Blogger.

    Which means to me WP is the clear favorite here.

    However, should you even use WP.com or skip straight to WP.org?

    I think the answer is the later.

    It really isn't that hard.

    Particularly some hosting companies if you register the domain name with them too (which I wouldn't generally recommend, but if you're starting out and completely new at this... then yes, it could be a good idea) as well as the hosting then to set up a wordpress site is as simple as pushing a couple of buttons on their control panel. And then from there it is more or less as easy to use as Wordpress.com but with a LOT more flexibility.

      I am currently not on either WP or Blogger. I own a domain that has nothing currently on it. I am wondering which way to go because if I choose WP I need to upgrade my hosting and pay more money. So...I was just wondering if it mattered which one I used, if it didnt really matter I would go with the "no more money" option...if you know what I mean?
  • Hi, I suggest you to use blogger.com. I have used it and I love it.

    #1 reason, all content are stored in google's fast server. you can handle any amount of traffic.
    #2, you can customize it using custom blogger templates.

    Setting a custom domain is that simple, and blogger ranks better.

    You can have adsense ads on blogger blog, which is not possible in wp.com also, you have to pay an upgrade to wp if you wish to use a custom domain.

    When you think you should have control over your own content + you can pay hosting fee, move to self hosted solution.

    PS: by wp.com I meant the free blogging service of wordpress.com

    You do realize your blogger blog could disappear in a moment? Your free Wordpress.com blog could disappear in a minute? You are at the mercy of Google or Worpress.com in either of those situations.
