How do you make money online without spending money?

Ok, since I've joined warriorforum I've learned many ways to make money without spending money. But first there are some important things you must realize:

Here is what everybody wants: Love to magically get a bunch of money. Why do we as a society are dependent on money to buy our happiness? I'm not criticizing you, because I've wanted exactly what you're looking for many times. But I've learned that it's not going to come. Other than rare occasions, money doesn't just fall into your lap, and when it does, it's not from any "get rich quick" schemes - it's pure chance and you cannot expect it or make it happen. If it does, great, but it probably won't.

So please if want to be rich then get to know the hard way first, research on how to do it and then you use the smart way.

Here is the Smart Way:: If you want to make money think of an idea that no one has thought of before, and market it, or something like that. Or take something that already exists, and find a new use for it, or think of something that would be nice if it existed, and make it a reality.

Remember: Don't try to focus so much on money. It's a complete illusion anyway. It's colored paper that is only worth what everyone says it is, and with the economy like it is, you shouldn't put too much value in it right now.

So don't sacrifice your happiness for colored bits of paper. Life's too short for that. But don't expect free handouts or quick riches, that's not how things work. Just be happy, and trust that things will work out if you want them to. Be willing to work for what you want, and don't sacrifice your happiness to an illusion.

Best Wishes

Jayzee

In all honesty, you wont go far without investing. You will just use a lot of your time chasing things that others could be chasing for you for $2/hour! Outsource is king. Being a scrooge is the way to an early 'IM' death.

You're right it is not possible to go far without investment. But you should first earn something without spending money, and for that you have to understand how you'll do that. Gather fact, do research and note them. Now use the key points and start what you want to do, without investing.

You'll definitely earn something. So when you earn use that money to invest and grow your business.

Let me give you an example, if you want to blog then you have to study about blogging for a week to completely understand. Now you start making a blog (without spending anything). Then you post quality contents and then use google adsense to make some money (ofcourse you'll require some traffic, for whichyou can find great free tips here). With that money you invest WISELY and advertise to bring more traffic to prosper further.

        Hi Everyone

When I started out in IM, I really had NO money at all to invest. I was working in a full time job and wanted to get going in IM part time.

I started a Blogger Blog (free) and eventually progressed to a Wordpress.org Blog (free).

I started out giving out free money making tips each day, I researched these on the Internet (free).

I learnt how to drive traffic to my Blog (plenty of free info there in the warrior forum) I used Article Writing, Video, Facebook & Twitter (all free)

I then monetized the Blog by using Clickbank products related to the money making subject I was talking about each day in my daily post (free).

I now have a fairly large following who read my daily Blog and enjoy my daily tips, I do a few sales a week but setting this up cost absolutely nothing except the domain name, the hosting and my aweber account for my list.

        All the best

        Keith

You're totally right about this, Owen. While it is perfectly alright to start with zero money out of pocket and try the free methods (you have to do what you must, and often we cannot be choosy in the beginning), once you've started earning some money you'll probably need to outsource, use paid advertising, and also invest in tools that cut down on the tedious/repetitive work IF you want to scale up and 'replace yourself' in the business, which is what you should ultimately shoot for.

By systemizing your business and automating/outsourcing things where possible, you are building a high value business which can run with minimal input from you, and this is what will enable you to sell it for a lot of money later on (if you so choose), or you could just keep scaling it up quite easily, since you already have the systems and processes in place.

      I disagree,

All of my projects are started with precisely $0 investment so I can track their viability extremely easilly when compared to other projects - it creates a kind of control. Once the project has earnt with $0 investment I can figure out how much outsourcing is required to build from there on. If I use any programs I've purchased I consider that a negative expense, even though the funds are there for the purposes of viability, works very well for me.

EDIT: If you read my JV proposal you will see that I am doing so in the precise same way I mention here.

good post. I do not rely on money to make me happy, as long as I can pay the bills I'm fine.

I work from home as a web designer also offering SEO services (SEO Leeds | Hero Digital | Increase Web Traffic Today!) but I have many side projects which I hope to make some pocket money from. Admittedly the main reason for these sites is to make some extra money but I REALLY enjoy what I do, so I think I've achieved the balance. It took a couple of years though.

I also started IM without a budget. Now I have many web sites, Do CPA, Sell Own products and Have a SEO service.
Everyday I learn a new business concept and focus my own things. That's the secret to achieve goals. Usually I check this forum to motivate.

An initial monetary outlay is not compulsory for someone to make money online. It certainly provides an advantage, & accelerates the process, but not a must-have, unless the option chosen is one of paid traffic, e.g PPC.
For beginners, going for the free options is always the best suggestion, as they can learn from their mistakes without risking any money.

You can make money online without spending any money, instead you must spend more time. There are lots of different revenue sharing sites online, the easiest way to make money is to start writing articles on these sites (Hubpages as an example) and earn a percentage of all adsense clicks on your articles. When you start earning you can start investing money in your business.

That's a different discussion worthy of it's own thread.

I understand where the OP is coming from, but whatever you do will cost you one way or the other.

No such thing as free traffic. You still pay for it.

If you want to market online, you need a pc and internet connection... yep, money.

Even an internet cafe will charge you something.

        • You put a value on your time once you make it in this game... Beforehand.. Its up for grabs!!!

I know for a fact when I started I would have done a lot for free just to catch a break. Now that I have caught a break - of course I value my time quite highly. It's simple supply and demand. If there is no demand for your time, than you give it no value.

If people demand your time (even more than you can give) your time becomes more valuable and you will only charge more money as demand grows.

          It just makes sense.

Yes you can if you're a webmaster, a good blogger, a creative writer or any other expert marketer. It's like you apply for an employment job outside, do you spend any thing for that, except submitting you cv?

      OF COURSE!!!!!!

What on earth makes you think it isn't?

You don't even need a website to make money using the internet.

      How about this:

Set up a Google account (free)
Create a Google Places listing (free)
      Get links (Free)
Take phone calls and sell (free)

        Bollocks...

You still need to pay for the phone and access to the internet.

And I notice there's a thing called time and opportunity cost.

Can you make money using free resources? Yes.

        Without spending anything... impossible.

        Let me also add...

If you wanted to open a pizza shop, you have 2 options (actually 3)...

You can build the shop and the equipment and then grow th flour and tomatoes.. get a few cows to make the cheese.

Or you can invest money to fit out the premises and open within a few weeks and start making money...

Or you can invest in an existing business.

I'll take options 2 or 3 any day. Thx.

        LOOOOOOOL!!!

Anyway, back to the OP, I dont quite understand the point of the thread. It's indeed possible to make money online without investing more than a few bucks on a domain, a hosting account and an aweber account (less than $100 total... and no, that's not what you could call "an investment").

I am not sure though where the OP's "don't trade your happiness" reference comes in play.

Not sure either. Maybe... and it might be just me... he is referring to not focusing on trying to make the big bucks straight away? Or that money is a means to the end... not the end itself.

Come to think of it, it is a pointless thread.

But hey, I'm not ALWAYS right.

What I like are when these threads are started and the the OP doesn't reply.

If you live in a developed country and have no startup capital, you will almost always be better taking a second job (bar work etc) to build up a small pot.

Sure you can use blogger/wp etc and scratch a few quid, but you will almost certainly be earning considerably less per hour than you would pulling pints or packing groceries.
It also sets you in the completely wrong mindset, that ends up costing you more time and money, doing half hearted projects (its free / im only testing / what if i did this instead) that quickly get abandoned or worse chasing practically impossible ROI 'opportunities'.

There are solid multi billion pound industries that are based on tiny markups, but people who usually want to 'make money online' for free always chase unobtainable profits.

Sure there are huge profits to be made online, but it wont happen overnight for a few $ no matter what the sales copy reads.

Most importantly, when doing your maths, include your time in the equation (charged at least at your countries minimum wage) before you consider your self in profit.

I believe this is an important point. Working your butt silly behind your computer to make what you could make flipping burgers doesn't make much sense. Sure, it's OK for the first month or two while you get everything started, but that's not really a profitable business in the long run.

I'm not sure I follow the OP...?

Finding a new idea and marketing it out there sure seems to be a great way to start out a long, bumpy learning curve into a successful business. Not saying you can't do that...

And sure, if you wanna get technical... yeah your time is worth something ... and your internet bill isn't exactly free either. haha

But if you don't wanna lay out any cash "out of pocket", it makes more sense (to me) to promote what's already selling by laser targeting your audience, snoop around in their internet "backyard" to find out what they really want, and then put an offer they can't refuse in front of them using any free method of your choosing (or better yet, one that they're familiar/comfortable with). You could get into profit pretty quickly that way... especially online. Then just keep building on that.
