Video - How do you put video on your site?

Hello all,

I have only ever put Youtube videos on my websites before but now I need to put my own vidoes on there and I don't want use Youtube I want to embed them (or whatever) directly into my site.

What is the best and hopefully fairly simple way to do this.

Is there a good tutorial (maybe a video one, even on youtube) that someone can point me to that tells me how to do it for free. I think flv is the format I need to change them to, but not sure.

Alternatively I am open minded to buying an expensive pieice of software that can do all the techie stuff for me and I just copy and paste in a code into my website.

I have done a search on the forum but there are so many options that come up and alot of those are really onld so I don't know how relevant they are anymore.

Help...

You will need some kind of player - or if you are using something like camtasia you can export files that have the player in them.

I use EVP personally - as it has the player, uploads to amazon (dirt cheap) and gives me an embed code to pop into a post just like youtube.

    (easy video player)

Once the software is set up, it makes it really quick to upload videos and embed.

I have a copy of camtasia studio so any video I make with that I can put into my website using the object code it generates. Certainly looks more professional than embedding from a free video sharing site.

I didn't get on well with flowplayer but I think thats just me!

Lately though I have been using EVP (and store my videos on Amazon S3 account).

These options do require a small investment and a little bit of technical know how to get the most from them but the end result is very professional.

      Hi,

I am not quite sure what you mean by what system. But I have a number of websites with various hosts such as bluehost, site build it and hostgator. And I use website creation software such as coffecup and xsite pro.

Thanks for the recommendations I will look into them. I had used to have a free older version of camtasia I am not sure if I still have it, I will have to double check.
