why don't you just get into a network marketing company with tangible product? Those companies are proven to have higher customer retention. ALSO... you can take your business on to the web.

But I do believe "lead system pro" might be what you're looking for.

I'm looking for a program that teaches you how to recruit independent distributors using the web (no living rooms or hotel meetings for me). I came across what looked like the perfect program a month or so ago and thought I bookmarked the page but cannot find it. Uggghhh! Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

The specific problem/issue in this regard is that if their income isn't based predominantly on genuine retail sales to genuine retail customers, then however successful they might be, and whatever their own promotional materials say, regulators and courts and Attorneys General and so on are going to take the view that they're running a pyramid scheme, and if/when enough complaints build up about them, they encounter a legal problem which, one way or another, is the end of their trading.

These days, some MLM companies (in an attempt to "cover their assets") make sure that distributors sign something once a month certifying that they've sold a minimum of 70% of their previous month's stock/purchases to retail customers, before being allowed to order again. It's a big and serious and growing issue. Without genuine retail sales, there's "trouble ahead".

Long gone are the days when courts will accept that "distributors can be customers too". It's all been enshrined in precedent law now (in US state courts, anyway, and in most of Europe, too) that a "retail sale" is a sale to someone who hasn't signed a distributorship agreement with the company. And of course commissions are legally payable only in respect of products/services bought, not "memberships fees paid".

The reason retail sales matter so much is that they're evidence that the products are worth what's being charged for them, as long as people not involved in the "business opportunity" are regularly buying them. Something such companies increasingly have to be able to prove. Regarding "MMO" MLM's, the products have to be "worth it" - they can't be there to "make it look legal". I'm no lawyer, but here's an article on the website of an extremely pro-MLM US law-firm explaining that the products have to be real, and "worth it", and here's an article about the legal importance of retail sales written by a respected MLM industry expert.

The heyday for these companies was 10, perhaps even 5 years ago: it's much harder for them, now.

Dowloadable products, and "MMO information" as an MLM product, get examined very closely by regulators, who take action if they feel that it's bought only by "members"/"distributors".

Exactly so. And they have fewer legal problems and a longer life expectancy, too.

Some say that the MLM concept, originally devised in the old pre-mass-media days when individual reps were the best way to get the word out, may now be superfluous. Various advertising channels, including the Internet would seems to be sort of electronic replacements for MLM reps.
There's plenty of tutorial material and training course on internet marketing and services to which you can job out much of the work, I just don't see the point of having to conform to some specific MLM model for doing business, and sharing with them your limited margins.

The only 2 MLM opportunities that I know that are 'related' to internet marketing are GDI and GVO. Both are web hosting companies.

MLM is actually one of the easiest ways to make money. But I've had friends who sacrificed their friends for money through MLM. I personally think that unless your social circle is really wide, it's not worth to go into MLM to make money and lose your friends

Sure would be great to not to have to think up and implement all of the details of a business, but unfortunately you end up being one of hundreds or thousands executing ths same plan.
