Is Aweber increasing their price?

Hi guys,

I just read this email by Michael Rasmussen where it says:

"BREAKING NEWS: I just found out that Aweber
is making a huge change to their pricing
structure on December 15th, and it's going
to cost you a LOT of extra money per
year..."

Does this mean Aweber will be increasing the price for both the old and new pricing structure, or is this applicable only for new applicants?

Thanks, guys.

Michael

Did not read this anywhere. Am I ignorant? Surely Aweber would let their users know if they were indeed making this change?

They had a big price increase two years ago but was only for new customers from what I understand. So as long as you're already with them hopefully you'll be grandfathered in and be at the same rates.

I really do hope this is not true...That being said if Aweber does really increase their price so that it really makes it much more expensive per year, would you Aweber users continue with their service or change to another autoresponder?

Aweber is company that provides an autoresponder service. This is where you do your email marketing to your list. If you have ever subscribed to any newsletter, these newsletter you receive are being sent by an autoresponder. Hope that helps!

May i ask for you Aweber subscribers, at what rate are you guys locked in currently?

Short answer No, Detailed answer, there are several "white label" aweber providers out there ProFollow being one, previously they were allowed to sell the old style Aweber accounts (without all the Stats stuff) at the old prices. Effective Dec 15th they will no longer be able to do so, so if you want one of the old accounts at 19.95 you need to buy before then.

If you already have an "old" account your current pricing structure will be locked in.

I just checked Aweber's site. I remember a few weeks back when i checked it was about $14 a month for under 500 subscribers. Now it is $19 a month for the same package. So im guessing it has already increased? Probably does not affect the existing members though...

A few weeks ago?! Gawd bless you my son - I've been with aWeber for over a year at $19.95 for under 500 (though (un)fortunately I will soon be over that limit). So it's been quite a while.

Not received any emails from them regarding the price move. Like others mentioned, it might be applicable to clients buying in after the 15th.

Michael Rasmussen owns a Private Label version of AWeber
    called AutomateYourList.com.

Up until now, AutomateYourList has been using the old
software that used to run AWeber years ago together
with their old pricing structure of $19.95/month for up
    to 10,000 subscribers.

The Private Label owners will be able to offer the latest
AWeber software with the full Analytics functionality that
AWeber have been using for all new accounts in recent
    years.

Because of the added AWeber Analytic functionality, the
pricing structure is now more sensitive to subscriber count
    just like the normal AWeber.

    Dedicated to your success,

    Shaun

Yes, Michael Rasmussen sent out his e-mail indicating this. I checked out ProFollow and they've already cut over to the new website and higher pricing (as of 12/11/10).

Michael's AutomateYourList.com is STILL on the old plan. I'm going to purchase this evening. He's also offering a list building bonus in his e-mail.

If anyone wants his e-mail PM me and I will forward to you.

Just wanted to know are profollow & AutomateYourList as good as aweber but still cheaper than aweber ?

Any of you who may have used these if you could comment your inputs are highly appreciated.

I was looking for cheaper yet effective alternatives of aweber but since I did not have a lot of time to do that I was about to ask on this and I came across this thread. Hope to know more from your experiences on good aweber alternatives at better pricing.

Yes, they're both still cheaper, but only for a limited time. I use Profollow myself, and it is runs $19 monthly for up to 10,000 subscribers, but only for about one more week. If you get in now, you'll be grandfathered in on the current pricing plan.

        Paulie,

ProFollow.com has ALREADY cut over to the new, higher pricing model. Take a look at their website as it has the newer look and feel. I'm only aware of AutomateYourList.com still taking orders under the current, cheaper plan until 12/15/10.

For those pondering switching services (what a nightmare)
Last time I checked their rates were remarkably similar

    Comparing 5 big services:

    10,000 $65 - $75
    25,000 $145 - $150

Yes, your numbers are correct but that's based on Aweber's CURRENT pricing model. The very reason of the OP of this thread is to raise awareness that one has options for the cheaper pricing with basically the same service until next week.

Does it really matter? Obviously you want to cut costs where you can but you really shouldn't need to sweat an extra $20-$40 a month with 5000 subscribers

      Sean,

Your statement is somewhat true. Sure, between 5K and 9.99K subscribers the pricing difference is only $30 a month. Where you get clobbered is above 10K subscribers. Aweber is $130 a month and the white label option with the old pricing would only be $30 monthly.

It's not hard at all to get to 10K subs. $1,200 a year is a lot of money to just give away for list management.

As someone else said, if you are worrying about $20-$40 per month on your autoresponder, then you probably don't need one anyway. It's a cost associated with running a list and if you are running a list properly, you should have no problems coughing up the money to host that list with a reputable service.

You get what you pay for. I'd much rather pay $19.95 for aweber than $9.95 for a unknown service. The decision should take into account a lot more than just pricing - things like email deliverability rates, support, features, the list goes on. There is no point paying less for a service where most of your emails get blocked by the major email providers.

As with any part of a digitally run business, you should always back up any information that is worth anything to you - information your business relies on in order to make a profit. I believe Aweber has an option where you can export all your subscribers into an excel spreadsheet.

Better to be safe than sorry. No matter what anyone says, no service is 100% bullet proof.

I have them backed up but it was the hack that was a pain ever since it happened I and my lists have been getting spam emails everything from hard on drugs to rep watch's ect

But because I am not in the IM niche it has not been so bad I just do not trust them anymore (Aweber) hence I walked

List management is / should be a top priority for Internet Marketers and you have to factor the cost for a good management service into your business expenses that is just a cost of doing business.

It really is pennies when you think about how valuable your lists are and the income you make from them.

I am sure any new price increase will be for new customers only but we will have to wait and see.

Profollow cuts on the 13th I believe. Old plan is still there.

Profollow, Prosender and Automateyourlist all use Aweber to deliver. They get the exact same treatment and deliverability as Aweber. The links inside the emails say clicks.aweber.com and the unsubscribe says aweber.com.

The only difference is the URL where you sign up. That's it.

I've used/trusted Aweber since trying to use Mailchimp for 6 months. Personally, I believe that you get what you pay for... In any case, I think you are looking at this the wrong way. You aren't 'giving away' 1200 a year for list management; oyu're paying for it. Besides, even if you are absolutely awful at list monetization and you average $.50 per subscriber per month, that's still $5000 a month and you're only paying $130.

Compared to virtually any other legal business, this industry has the highest profitability BY FAR... I think we all get a little spoiled sometimes and take it for granted, just my $.02 :-)

What is everyone worried about. Aweber is not changing their price but the private label versions of aweber that have been operating on the old pricing system will be updating very shortly so they match the current aweber pricing. Very simple to understand.
