Hosting question -- Is this possible to do?

I'm ready to make the switch to a new hosting company, and here is my question . . .

My site is a cold fusion site, and now I want that site to be in Wordpress.

Is that possible? Will I be able to completely start over and rebuild my site from scratch to make it a Wordpress site?

Is there a way to delete all the files and start over by FTPing new files in and then install Wordpress or something like that?

Thanks for any assistance on this!

  • It depends, you didnt give us much info.

The answer is probably. If the functionality of your coldfusion site is within the constraints of wordpress, then yes.
  • If you're wanting to retain the same domain name and your search engine rankings then there are some things to consider - I wrote an article on them here:

Migrate an HTML Website to WordPress | Create an Awesome Home Business

Although that article refers to an HTML site the same principles will apply to Coldfusion.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    • Martin, this is great information, thank you. Your article really lays out a good plan.

However, I'm not quite clear on what must happen once my test site on the new host is all spiffed out and ready to go.

How exactly does the old site get transferred over to the new host with its original domain?

      Thanks again for your help.
