How much effort does it take to make a successful site?

I have been working on my site almost solidly for 3 months now!

Whether it is implementing new design aspects to improve functionality or better optimizing for SEO and link building!

What I want to know is how long does it take for to reach google page 1! I am on page 1 for yahoo and bing and have been for 2 months but page 10 for google! I've been working so freaking hard I want to see better results!

In your experiences, how long does it take from launch to PR1 and onwards. I know this can vary for a whole number of issues but I want to hear about your experiences!

Cheers ;-)

Pr is not the measurement of success but the conversion. don't focus on PR, build links, practice proper On page SEO, just forget PR but optimize sooner you will see.

there is no definite answer to this question, depending on your keyword, your competitions knowledge of seo and backlinking, and the speed and the amount of backlinks you are adding per day all determine the length of time it takes to rank top 3 in search.

here are also ways of generating traffic that will get you traffic and build backlinks at the same time so you can make profit until you hit top 3 in google.

Rank on the first page of Google for what?

I have blogs which are listed in the top 500 for keywords I thought might work, but then some of the dozens of auxiliary keywords I used are ranking on page 1 and 2.

When I see a trend like that I just switch the emphasis of my back link building to highlight the keywords which are working and push them higher, and continue slowly working on the "supposed" main keyword.

Hopefully you are not focusing all of your efforts into a single phrase.

I had a site (my very first site, actually) on page one in less than a week.

It gets less than 50 uniques a month, and I'm not sure what people are looking for when they do go there.

Hey, it was my first site.

It all depends what keywords you are trying to rank for. It could be that you are in a very competitive niche, which means you could work on your site for another 3 years and still not get to the number 1 spot. It's all about backlinks though. There are a few other factors that count towards the google top spot, but backlinks is one of the most important....and not just any backlinks, quality backlinks from good sites helps

You have to get more backlinks than your competition for each keyword you want to rank in. There's a site where you can check out the number of backlinks on any web page but I don't know it at the moment.

You can't go wrong in building backlinks for your keywords. Write articles and submit them, bookmark in social media sites, ping each page on pingomatic.com. Keep doing that until your site ranks.

Also important... make sure the content of your site is actually relevant to the keyword, or you won't convert. Link to the most relevant page on your site for a given keyword. So if you're going after the keyword "train my french poodle to pour coffee," link to a page that's all about that and has that in the title, like this: yourdomain.com/train-my-french-poodle-to-pour-coffee

As others have said, don't worry about PR. There are plenty of PR0 sites that rank well. Even for competitive keywords you can get on page 1 of Google in a month or two on a new site. The key is really good on page optimization, and excellent off-site optimization (Lots of backlinks).

Make sure you optimize your site, and then build links like crazy. You'll get there!

Don't get overly focused on page rank. After all, it is "only" a Google issue. Yes, I understand it is important. However, focus first on building quality links, keyword research and SEO. The keyword issue will all depend on what keywords you are trying to rank for, and how competitive of a niche you are in. Best wishes to you.
