One-Trick Pony Or Valuable Asset?

I was talking with one of my coaching clients yesterday, and he brought up an important point.

He has been in the internet marketing field and knows how to use the 'Net to get leads, conversions, and sales.

Not a problem, right?

You wouldn't think so.

However, his clients see him as "Their internet guy." That's what he knows how to do, use the 'Net. He has developed a brand as a web developer. When he came to me he said he wanted to make more money.... His time was full and he had topped out on income.

He has a goldmine in his lap and he didn't realize it.

If you are working with a client, internet marketing is just ONE part of the equation to help that business prosper. Although marketing is important, if you get a boatload of people through the front door and are losing profits or spending too much money or doing a number of things that cut your profits, you can be successful, but lose money.

So I told my client that he needed to broaden his knowledge base to include a number of other things he could do for a business owner to help the owner keep their profits. The business owner can then get additional value from his "internet guy," by following other tips for business growth.

This coaching client was sitting on a goldmine because getting "in the door" by doing some social media work, building a website, helping with email marketing... and all the rest of internet marketing leads to really BIG money as a business consultant.

Use you internet marketing savvy to "Open the door."

Then just walk through.

Cheers,

Millard
