I do my own advertising across a private network. Also use adwords, adbrite, and affiliate marketing.

Ezine advertising, especially solo ads, directly targeting your market also gets very quick results.

I used to use textlinkads and did not do too badly with them. I just discovered one called BuySellAds. They look good, so I may try them out on a site I am working on now once the traffic if good enough to justify a good price.

I used to do PPC Advertising with Google Adwords and Facebook for an affiliate product I was promoting and I made 10 quick sales, but after about 2 weeks I started losing a lot of money, because I didn't exactly know what the hell I was doing. So I've stopped ever since and promised myself that I would go back into PPC only when I've understood it, have enough money to play with, and know how to make it really work.

Now, I focus on FREE methods, specifically Forum marketing, Blog Commenting, and Article marketing. The best, easiest and most effective has been forum marketing. It's so easy and can surprisingly can be fun too since you're helping people and in turn they often give you what you want. So it's a win-win.
