Question About Autoresponders

Hello everyone, just a few quick questions about autoresponders. I am getting close to purchasing one so I can start building a list. Most likely I will go with Aweber as that seems to be the AR of choice.

A few threads that I looked at seemed to indicate that they are seriously going to raise the price, but I think it was just some weird email that was sent around and isn't really the case.

My questions are these, and sorry, but most will probably laugh when they read them.

1. I am having a little trouble figuring out what would be the incentive for someone to sign up for my list, should I have a product created before even thinking about using an autoresponder? Or should I write an Ebook?

2. Currently I only have about 6 sites and all but one have to do with music, simply because I don't feel right about making a website that has to do with making money online. The two reasons for this are, it is a very competitive market, and I don't think I am good enough at keyword research yet to get into that. Down the line maybe, but not yet.

So with that being said, is it possible to have multiple lists but under the same account I guess you could say?

Maybe have one list that you market music information and materials to, and say another list that you can talk about power tools with? Just an example there, but I think you know what I am getting at.

3. I am pretty sure I just need to put some code in a text widget in wordpress? I hope that's right and I am not sounding too ignorant here lol.

The site I am thinking about adding the auto responder to is the second one in my signature. The guitar lessons for beginners site.

If you happen to take a look at it, let me know if it would be a good idea or bad idea because in your opinion the site would need a complete makeover.

Thanks everyone and I am sure I will come up with more questions as I think about this.

Take a look at aweber they have some great tutorials, you can have multiple lists not just one.
Think about the messages you wish to send and make sure you are ready before you purchase.
If you spend some time thinking about your messages and ontent and have them ready to go before you sign up it will save you a little cash before you sign up.

That's really good advice. I need to keep it simple to begin with so I can get the feel for how it works, and if I have content ready I should be able to write emails for at least a month in advance maybe?

I am thinking it is best to send them an email every 3 days or so in the beginning so I don't have them unsubscribe too quickly? Sorry I read so many things it all gets lost. Some people say once a week, some say every other day, I just don't know lol.

You can set your auto responder to send your follow up messages when you like. If you can have a months worth in advance you are well in front of the game. Some people send every day some every other day some once a week. In your niche its probably best not to send every day and you obviously have a job outside of this.

So maybe set up your messages for twice a week, get a months worth set up, see what gets opened, aweber has great analytics.

Apart from the messages you have set up you can send a broadcast to your list at any time, 'special offer' 'money off' 'new product' 'gold plated signed guitar' whatever you like!

I guess in your niche you can be an 'expert' don't be afraid to come across as such.

Offer quality advise and then learn to promote and people will follow

There are white lable versions of Aweber where Aweber licenses their product for others to sell. Aweber is raising the price to those other sellers, and the sellers are raising it for their buyers. The full version of Aweber is not changing its price that I know of.

Something to give away, to squeeze their email address, and something(s) to sell.

Especially since you are not yet earning a lot of money online yourself.

You can put an unlimited number of lists into one account at Aweber.

    3. I am pretty sure I just need to put some code in a text widget in wordpress? I hope that's right and I am not sounding too ignorant here lol.
We learn by asking. I've been building sites with Dreamweaver for a while, and used a couple other programs before that. I recently entered the 21st century and learned Wordpress.

What Aweber does is let you generate a form on their site, and then they give you the code to drop into your website... be the site a Wordpress site or a static HTML site.

You just drop the Aweber code into a widget in Wordpress.

Aweber also has a newer version of their own plugin for Wordpress. It is supposed to simplify putting an Aweber form into Wordpress. I have not been able to make that thing work as of yet. So I just drop the code into a widget.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you both for the great information. That clears up quite a good amount of the questions I had.

Lol I love it, gold plated guitar. I will look for one of those. And I will also go check out the tutorials at aweber now.

I should have no problem putting the form on my front page, the only thing now is trying to figure out what I can give them in exchange for their email address.

I have read a little bit about PLR packs but I am not so sure I want to go that route because they can be low quality and the internet is probably already packed with the same or similar articles.
