What Would You Do With A Couple Hundred Thousand PLR Articles?

Over the last several years, I've collected an enormous amount of PLR articles from various people and places. At last count it's over 200,000.

I'm considering making one absolutely huge site with these articles and without doing any backlinking see how it ends up doing. I even have a great name for the site, a running gag theme (it's funny to me anyway), and the .com is available.

It would be more in the nature of a test than just curiosity. I figure this is as good an idea as any.

What would you do with 200,000 PLR Articles?

I'm not sure he could legally do that unless he has the resell rights for the PLR articles. I know that I don't give resell rights with my packages.

Create your own article directory and use these to start out with stocking it full off articles. Goes along similar lines to what you are planning, but if you start an actual article directory you can have other people adding articles to your site too.

Categorize them by topic then start making other stuff with them. Combine a few to make a report or a bunch to create an ebook. Use excerpts to make blog posts. Things like that rather than just wasting them.

Of course, a good chunk might be junk but start tossing those as you look through.

Don't forget repurposing them into audios and videos that you can post on Youtube and elsewhere. You can even lump together multiple PLR articles and make a video product out of them, if you have sufficient material.

Paul, having sufficient material isn't the problem I'm not kidding when I say I have over 200,000 articles and that's not counting the PLR ebooks and whatnot.

Tina, I like this idea and combining it with Paul's above could make some great money. I've actually been doing something similar with this stuff for some time.

Sheryl, I actually had an article directory for a couple of years. Sold it off awhile back. I'm not sure I want to go this route since I would have to actually check all the articles that got submitted to verify they weren't junk. I don't envy the people over at ezinearticles, they have their work cut out for them.

I appreciate everyone's input so far. Keep the ideas coming!

I will use a software to automatically rewrite it and then use my script to generate thousands of sites.

I actually thought about writing a script that would take them and automatically post them to blogger... I don't think they would like how fast it would do it though. Having a blog farm of 50 or so sites with 4,000 articles apiece show up overnight would probably get me a little more attention than I want. Of course I could throw in a delay...

Well, if someone gave them to me I would use them in the fireplace this winter to get fires started. I certainly would not be interested in pushing the same tired, badly researched and written, spun, and simplistic drivel out on the public once again...

I did the tech setup of yumplr.com

they started out with something similar to what you have: a bunch of material and the thought, now what?

So they decided to post 10 articles a day, and they built an article directory system inside the membership site, so you can pick the stuff searching by keyword, category, etc.

well... they like doing things right so there is a lady actually proofreading the material before posting. She has to rewrite 2 out of 3 as most of the PLRs sold in packages are trash, spun over spun, translations to Russian and back again... you get the picture.

so whatever you do, you will need to proofread and eventually rewrite them one by one, unless you sell packages (like most out there).

    Hmmm..

Here's an idea: Instead of just having a PLR directory (where people come and by 10 articles at a time or whatever), make a PLR membership site using Digital Access Pass...

Break the memberships up into different niches... Dating, IM, weight loss etc.. And charge a monthly subscription, for each niche, of say, $20..

You could drip feed 100 articles a month (per niche) for the rest of your life. So for $20 a month, they get 100 articles in their niche, that will be automatically available for them to download, without you having to lift a finger (this is possible with digital access pass, can just set it to drip their package on the first of the month)

And you can offer a super membership where someone can pay say, $50 a month for the 100 articles from every single niche you have.

There are so many people on warrior forum that are hungry for articles.. And at $20 a month (20 cents per article), you could have yourself an incredible membership site... And the best part? You can market it right here on warrior without having to use any other platform

You would have to print them to make all those fires. I have much better things to do with all that paper, like...

      Making paper airplanes...

      Or origami.

Besides, the vast majority of the net IS simplistic drivel.

I agree with this. This is one of the best ways to cash in on PLR. Also you could use them as freebies to get people to sign up to lists.

Stephanie, those do seem to be the most popular options so far. Thanks.

Sandra, I kinda figured I would end up having to do a bit of proofreading and rewriting. Well, actually the college kids I have around here would do most of it, but yeah it's looking like it would be a lot of work so far.

That was my thought as I read the original post...

If that 200,000 plr articles looks anything like the (much smaller) collection I've accumulated, about 180-190,000 are worthless. They're either so bad that your re-writers would be loading up and heading for bell towers, or they've been circulating steadily since their introduction.

      I wish you luck, though...

A twist on the membership site idea, you could use them to build a nice list.

Upload them in niche packets of 10 articles each, set them up in your autoresponder for every day and offer people 10 PLR articles a day free of charge.

Add offers in with the mails or, alternatively, the subscriber needs go to a page to download which can be a sales page for one of your products. This method would require a bit of thought of how to implement but you get the gist?

Right now video and you tube marketing is doing very well so use those articles to rank for the most sought after keywords. Second to that, membership sites make good money so categorically organize them and have some sort of a membership site going but I definitely recommend video and memberships the way to go!
