Man i am building my list with facebook at present

Its going really well - heaps of signups - but too many of the varmints are not confirming.

Heres the optin page:

FREE BodyBuilding Manual and Muscle Anatomy Book

I just added this line

"Please Check Your Email and Confirm Immediately - Link Expires in 24 Hours"

Maybe its the traffic source - maybe its the confirmation email itself.

Any input form anybody appreciated - I must eliminate these non confirmers.

    How much percentage are confirming?

If it is more than 70% confirming in present status, you are doing ok. You can ofcourse improve confirmations by -

    * offering more value to the offer or
    * more targeting the subscribers (like health and fitness forums)

I think I would remove the words "Real Email". My first reaction was that you don't trust people.

I think I would add "Get Your FREE Manual Download Now" in that same space.

I think the problem is that some people don't know what this means: "Please Check Your Email and Confirm Immediately"

In other words, they don't know to look for a message with a link in it to click.

I would explain in more detail on the signup page.

Also I see the subject line of that email starts with "Please confirm your subscription" - people may not realize that is related to the report they signed up for.

I'd try a subject line like "BodyBuilding Manual and Muscle Anatomy Book you requested" or "How to Get the BodyBuilding Manual and Muscle Anatomy Book you requested".

Instead of "real email" you might say "main email" although that's probably not causing the problem.

Also, in your confirmation message you tell them to reply to the message to get their book- does that work? Why aren't you telling them to click that link below?

I agree, you need to make it clearer what they have to do.

And in the confirmation email, something like,

"You're nearly there! Click the link below and the FREE report will be delivered to your inbox immediately"

      or something to that effect.

Try signing up to a big name marketers email who uses double opt in and see what message they use.

Social ad traffic and others like pay per click ads have very low confirmation rates with double opt-in.

What I do is create a new autoresponder and go single opt-in for this traffic source. Essentially what I do is I customize my autoresponder settings for different traffic sources.

      Fabian's got it exactly right...

You are targeting Facebookers- set up a new AR with someone other than AWeber and go single-opt.

If you are concerned about possibly polluting your main money site with spam complaints, I would set up an el-cheapo hosting account with a different provider and run all the traffic from this campaign through a domain with a similar name until you see how it goes.

You can always direct your new list (less the complainers) to your main domain later through the AR.

      Hope this makes sense/helps!

I was considering that - I'm with getresponse, not keen on spam complaints though.

I also had a look and aweber recomends a video and instructions on how to confirm after they optin.

Right now it redirects to an affiliate page which is worse for confirmations than a plain thankyou page.

PS: i have 30% of optins not confirming over all - but the facebook optins are 50% which is costing me money.

    I'd say just one thing...

Anywhere you want to boost conversions... Give'em more incentives. Incentivise them along every step of the way... That's what I have to say.

I bought a WSO the other day and the warrior had a fantastic page showing the email and an arrow to click to confirm etc. Point is maybe your potential subscribers need a visual of what happens next to confirm their subscription.
