What program do you use to record skype audio/video?

Hey all,

I have a Skype interview lined-up for next week on Skype and I was wondering what you use to record Skype audio and video? This particular interview is just audio but I would also like to know how to record the video.

I think I might be able to record the screen using camtasia just not sure if it would capture the audio correctly.

What programs do you use to easily do this?

Thanks

Brandon

    WireTap Studio for Mac OSX

Works like a charm, can "wiretap" and record the audio of any program and isolate it, plus include your microphone audio to capture your end of the convo.

Simkl IM CHat & Voice Recorder from download.simkl.com works great for me for Recording Skype. It records microphone and headphones into separate channels (left and right), so it's very convenient for interviews because I can mute my own voice.

You have to watch this. You'll feel like a pro once you're done.

I wouldn't even bother with skype. I would use a service that is designed for this type of thing such as Web Conferencing | GoToMeeting. They even have a free 30 day trial so you could use it for your interview and see how things go. It allows you to record either screen and all the audio and will even save a recording of the meeting so you can view it later.

I mean AUDIO counts especially if you are using the 'interviews with experts' model to create infoproducts or for monthly membership sites.

Thats why I started using the SpaxPhone which has a built in recorder that you can use for free and saves the recorded file to .wav on your computer.

But the best part whith the Spax Phone is the sound QUALITY!

which is important if your are using the 'interviews with experts' model and want to deliver professional infoproducts.

Another good thing is that is about 40% cheaper till 'call out' then using SkypeOut.

i.e. the expert you are interviewing dont need to be Online (glued to a computer).

And you save money because you dont have to buy any Recording software (i.e. call recorder or Pamela)

      Just my 2 cents.

I too use Audio Hijack on Mac OS X. I then edit my Skype recordings usually using QuickTime Player 7 (Pro) - usually just trimming them to length.

I love using skype to record interviews and do recordings and conversations with my customers.

I use the free skype recorder as it places both conversations on separate channels making it easy to edit.

I use Camtasia to record the screen.
Although my free trial is just about to expire. I'll have to figure a way around that.

I've had problems with Camstudio before.

    Not a fan of Pamela.

My preference (and a lot of other people too) is for MP3 Skype Recorder (it's free)

I use free Skype recorder. Pretty enough to do the recording. Besides you are using Skype, why not use Skype Recorder.

I've done consulting calls on skype in the past but never looked into recording those calls. Thanks for all the great info. shared here. For screen capture I agree with most, that camtasia is really good. If you are on a tight budget you can try screentoaster for free.

I use Callgraph. It's free, and the quality is great. I've only ever used it for 2-way recordings, but when you do that, it records one person in the left channel and the other in the right. That's useful if you need to do simple edits. Once I had a nasty cough, but I told the person I was interviewing to just talk over me if I coughed and I edited them out later with audacity

It's also nice if one person is too quiet in the recorder. You can boost them and leave the louder person as they were.
