Do any of you use proxy sites?

Hi,
I wanted to know if any of you used proxy sites or changed your ip.

The thing is that I will be visiting Pakistan for a few months and so I want to use an Indian Ip to access my paypal account (Since I am an Indian and my paypal account is based on India)

So, what can I do.

How do I change my ip address so that it shows my location as India?

Should I use some proxy sites? could you recommend some proxy sites?

Do help me out.

    I have logged into my PayPal without problems as I traveled around several Asian countries in the past few years. So, I don't see that there will be any problems for you.

    If in doubt, you should contact PayPal just before you travel. The problem with most proxies that you do not allow you to post login information unless you pay. The one that I have used in the past is proxify.com

      Well, I don't know if you will not have ANY problems... I was operating on a Germany proxy once and forgot that i was on it and logged into my paypal account. Well, paypal shut down my account until I called them and explained the situation.

      So you might want to call them before logging into your account and let them know that you are out of state for the time being.

        Hmm, NOw I think that maybe mailing paypal would be a better option. I will just mail them and then let them know that I am travelling and will be using it from a different country for a while.

          Hi,

          I don't think it's particularly advisable to log into your financial accounts through someone elses server. It may be fine (I'm not a techie in that area).

          Most hackers are one (or five) steps ahead, and may have already contemplated your need. There's just a chance that there are proxy servers out there that already have pages prepared that look like paypal but aren't paypal. Can't be sure, I'm just brainstorming possibilities. Hope this helps.

        Gary, you were using a proxy and that could be the problem. Typically, scammers like using proxies and PayPal may well have put the proxy you were using on a blacklist.

        I have used my PayPal account as far as Australia and that is a continent away from Hong Kong.

          Yeah, thats what they told me. I explained to them what had happen and they reopened my account on the spot. no harm no foul.

          Ive been using Paypal for like forever. So, it was real easy to get everything back on track.

          As for the post above "ExRat" you are correct to feel a little uncomfortable for using another server. They can easily attach a bot to record every keystrock. I didnt think of the earlier.

          So visit_faraz, you may be better off contacting paypal and letting them know the situation. i'm sure they'll be more then happy to work with you.

    Well, as far as the proies goes your best bet is to google "India Proxy"

    As far as setting it up, that may require you to install firefox if you dont have it.

    If you have it already, then go to tools; options; then help.

    That will open the instructions on how to conifure firefox for your proxy.

    That will give you all the info on setting up your browser to operate under that proxy.

    It should be enough to access your paypal account.

    I wont even think of using proxy now.

    I will just let them now, that I am travelling and lets hope that everything turns out to be okay.
