PayPal isn't the Only Game in Town

There are so many threads about how PayPal sucks (not my opinion)
that perhaps a few options should be posted.

Venmo makes it fun and easy to pay and charge friends.
Link a credit card and bank account to your phone and
send and receive cash to and from your friends.
It's completely free to use.

Send money to your friends and family using the
payment information in your Amazon.com account.

Find it with Google. Buy it with Google Checkout.

Skrill (aka: MoneyBookers) is a leading online payments and eWallet service
with over fifteen million account holders.
Moneybookers.com - Send Money - Receive Money - Online Payments - Money Transfers

We make accepting payments easy,
so you can focus on your business.
2Checkout.com - Merchant Account / Credit Card Processing Alternative

2CO: 2checkout is my favorite option. As a buyer I've had
them phone me just to make certain I wasn't being ripped off.
I wasn't, but I appreciated the concern.

    Thanks Ken, great list.

I use 2CO a lot myself for accepting payments.. no complaints here. Haven't tried most of the others though (apart from Google Checkout, where conversions dropped for me in one niche).

It's good to know there are some others which can be relied on. It's always be nice to have an alternative. Thanks for sharing.

I'm definitely in the "I HATE PAYPAL" camp.

They'll lock your account when the wind blows the wrong way with little recourse. It's just SUCH a bad idea to place all your eggs in one basket.

I moved to google checkout and love it. I have several businesses running with them. I also use AlertPay and Moneybookers for int'l clients who can't do google checkout in some countries.

As Venmo (totally new payment site?) is on the top of the list I expect the list is a promotional one from that company. It's the only thing that explains the ad-like description.

Yes, I agree with you but it seems to be the BIGGEST patronized game in town.

I LOVE paypal and HATE merchant accounts.

I used to use Paypal standard where you have to leave the site in order to complete the order. I didn't like that because I couldn't track my sales, so I tried a merchant account. The first several weeks, I had to send in about 50 proof of deliveries to show that the product was getting sent. After that, I was noticing I was missing about $5K from my account that was never deposited. They said that they were holding it, really for no reason. But it took about 2 hours on the phone until someone could tell me that.

I HATE merchant accounts customer service. HATE, HATE, HATE.

    Just wanted to vent.

Love paypal though. I use paypal pro and, even though it's more expensive, I think it's awesome. I've put through millions of dollars of transactions since 2005 and NEVER have had an issue.

if you sell digital products through 2 Checkout do you still have to secure them yourself?
