Questions on DAP, hoping a member or Ravi can help :-)

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger but am trying to suss out some needs. Any info would be most appreciated.
  • I'd like to do an ecourse that runs every month. It's not recurring and is a one-time product. It is possible to set the 'start' date of membership to do this?
  • How do the multiple autoresponders work? Can customers be subscribed based on purchase of memberships/products?
  • Can autoresponders be setup around custom future dates, like messages before/after a birthday?

The first one is the biggie, the one thing I'm trying to see if any membership plugin can do. I was going to use s2member, but if that needs purchasing iDevAffiliate, I'd rather go for a single solution like DAP.

Thanks!

    I use DAP on my PLR site, and I really like it.

    I know that DAP is capable of items one and two on your list. Not sure about #3, but hopefully Ravi will be along to answer that one.

      Thank you Cindy - #1 is really the biggest thing for me. It something you use or have seen in use elsewhere?

      #2 seems to be how a lot of membership plugins work, and I figured it's the smart choice, which Ravi seems to have made quite a few of in creating DAP.

      #3 would be gravy but not totally necessary - I know Mailchimp can do it, and I could use it my initial list, then use DAP's autoresponders for members.

    With DAP you have three options for drip feeding content: You can set X number of clicks (for example, they can watch a video up to 4 times); you can set specific dates (to have content only available between December 14, 2010 and January 1); or you can set it for specific days, much like you would an autoresponder. I think that's the option you're looking for. Basically you can say the user can access the content beginning X days after sign-up, but not more than Y days after.

    I think #2 (setting specific dates) would work for a class that happens every month. I'd have to clone that membership/product every month but that's ok. I will try split-testing to see if set dates or membership starting upon registration works better. Thanks again :-)

      I just finished setting up a Word Press members site using DAP (Digital Access Pass) using Authorize.net as the payment processor. BTW - We tried using Magic Members, but the check out / order page looked so bad and unsecure that we decided not to use Magic Members.

      I found the DAP script easy to set up and it's easy to create different membership levels and drip release secrued pages. The checkout page looks good also.

      The problem I'm having now is that we want to use idevaffiliate for our affiliate program. For it to work properly, it uses these varibles;

      idev_saleamt=XXX (Sale amount)
      idev_ordernum=YYY (Order number)
      ip_address=IPA (IP address)

      Here's the idev code;

      <?PHP
      $ch = curl_init();
      curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "http://www.site.com/idevaffiliate/sale.php?profile=72198&idev_saleamt=XXX&idev_order num=YYY&ip_address=IPA");
      curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
      curl_exec($ch);
      curl_close($ch);
      ?>

      Using DAP with Authorize.net, no Order Confirmation page appears after an order is placed. This is needed so I can insert the idevaffiliate above code to capture the above data. DAP with Authorize.net uses a "silent post" URL from the DAP program so no Order Confirmation page is shown.

      I wrote to DAP support about this issue and Veena Prashanth from DAP wrote me back stating "No resources to do this now. If you want us to do this as a custom project, we can look into it but it cannot be done for free at this point."

      I immediatley wrote Veena Prashanth and asked him how much the "custom project" would cost and when it would be finished. So far, there has been no reply.

      I also wrote to Idevaffiliate Tech Support but they did not offer a solution how to make Idevaffiliate work with DAP.

      Idevaffiliate and DAP are both popular programs. It seems to me that these companies should try and work together to come up with a solution so their programs are compatible. I also feel that since I have made DAP aware of this issue, they should creat a solution so their program works with Idevaffiliate and I should not have to pay them for a "custom project"

      We have put a year of work into this project. We have affiliates wanting to promote this but can't because this technical problem is preventing us from being able to launch.

      If anyone has experience with this issue or if you have a possible solution, please let me know. It would be much appreciated

        Ray,

        We appreciate that you want to make DAP work with iDevAffiliate.

        As you know, DAP has become one of the leading platforms for creating a
        membership site with WordPress, so we're constantly asked about making
        DAP work with many 3rd party systems, including, but not limited to
        iDevAffiliate, Kunaki, OfficeAutoPilot, SendPepper, FaceBook,
        shopping carts like Premium Web Cart, osCommerce, etc, etc, etc - the
        list just goes on and on and on :-)

        While we're very much excited that people want DAP to integrate with
        these 3rd party systems so that they can continue to use those 3rd party
        systems along with the powerful features provided by DAP, as a small
        business with finite resources, we have to pick our battles - and choose
        what we can deliver reliably and quickly to our users.

        Fortunately (or unfortunately, depends on how you look at it), DAP's own
        built-in affiliate program is robust enough for most of our users, and
        we haven't gotten too many requests to integrate with iDevAffiliate.

        While I'm sure that every time we put a check mark next to one of these
        3rd party systems saying DAP now integrates with them, we're sure to
        attract more users from that 3rd party system. But as a smart business
        that needs to expand carefully because of our large user base, we cannot
        afford to get carried away and try to integrate with every one of these
        systems all at once just so we can go out and make a few extra sales,
        and end up splintering our software to such an extent that it becomes a
        hodge-podge of patchy solutions that is "all over the place".

        Our first responsibility is towards our existing users who have already
        paid for DAP, and we need to make sure their needs are met, and we do
        not want to get greedy and rush into implementing integration with
        new systems.

        Integrating with popular systems like iDev is right there
        along with some others but it is not something that we will get to in the next couple of months.

        If you cannot wait for the timeframe we provide for the feature you need, then you can ask us if we will accommodate it as a custom project for a custom fee. We do not always take on custom work but if it is something that can benefit more users in future, then we will consider it, send you the quote and timeframe for delivery, and if the timeframe and quote works, you can accept it, and then we proceed with the work.

        We do not make promises that we cannot keep. We are upfront about what we can and cannot do. We deliver what we promise.

        If you are still interested in a quote from us, update the DAP ticket you opened and I will let you know after checking resource availability, cost and timeframe for delivery on Monday.

        Hope this helps.
