Why Networking Pays.....

Don’t ever underestimate the power of networking!

Networking can only benefit your business (and your personal growth).

I’ll share a quick story and hope this will inspire some of you to get out there and start networking.

I came across a post by Paul Meyers on here a few months ago. It was a great post and generated a very interesting thread. There are many great posts in here but this one just really struck me for some reason. I kept going back to it and reading the comments and finally decided to take it a step further. Seeing as Paul started the thread and threw out the idea, I decided to send him a PM to see how he felt about me pursuing the idea. Paul, always gracious, gave his blessing and wished me all the best.

I knew I couldn’t tackle this project alone so I contacted the other warriors that had expressed an interest in the thread. Some were interested, some weren’t, some stuck around, some didn’t. At the end of it all, we had our group.

We had many brainstorming sessions and finally developed a plan. We formed a legal partnership and have moved forward with our business plan. We all have our roles within our company and have meetings three times a week.

Will our business be a success? We sure hope so. The irony is that we would consider that to be the icing on the cake at this point. We all started this project with a vision and an anticipated financial gain. I don’t think any of us realized how much we were going to benefit from the process.

We have all learned so much from each other. Our combined knowledge and skills has benefited our partnership and each of us individually.

I have no doubt we will tackle other business ventures together. And….I definitely have no doubt that we will be friends forever.

You can only benefit from networking. Don’t be concerned that you might not have anything to offer to a business venture, trust me, you have something to offer, we all do.

Here’s a link to Paul’s original post…it in itself is a good lesson on networking.

There is a person you could meet in the next 24 hours that could completely change your financial picture in the coming weeks and months. Your job is to find that person.

    Lol.
It is funny. The 'project' is VERY different than anything I have done. It's success (or 'failure') IS the icing on the cake as I have learned a lot from being involved with a joint venture like this and perhaps more importantly have found 4 or 5 other very good friends! No one can have too many friends. I put quote marks around 'failure' because even if it is a complete bust business-wise, personally I have taken away much more than any immediate monetary value from this little crew.

Whatever happens with this, the lessons and friendships will remain and probably be worth MUCH more in the long run.

Also, as a side note, when working with a group like this, it motivates one to 'be all they can be' so to speak. (No one wants to be considered the albatross around the group's neck! Lol.)

All in all, a great experience and learning opportunity. Thanks to Paul for the idea and everyone that posted, both positively and negatively in that original thread. (Lots can be learned from even negative comments!)

As someone who has always been very independent I was never one for networking as it seemed to entail needing others.

Well as you can imagine that attitude stifled my progress, and the minute I embraced networking and really understood the true give and take nature of it I have noticed the benefits.

The Corporate world spends millions on entertainment, golf etc to make networking opportunities readily available .... we here at the warrior forum have such a great networking tool for those who use it properly.

I have noticed the popularity of mastermind groups and chat's on the forum growing, and it is little coincidence I think that many that are very actively involved in them are full timers, which to me is evidence of success.

Networking is a huge part of my business. I signed up for an account at Meetup.com and go to internet marketing Meetings in my neighborhood. I have found all of my SEO clients from networking, have met somebody that I JV'd with and even sell my own products by talking at other meetings that need people to speak at. I even started up my own Los Angeles Warrior Forum meeting too.

I have also met a ton of great online marketers too that I hang out with and exchange ideas with.

Hey, you can never discount the power of the Mastermind Group! If you've ever read Think and Grow Rich you'd know what I was talking about.

I've realized that unless you're a total genius, have more than 24 hours a day, have 4 arms and two brains, can breathe under water, then you need other people helping you out in this business!

Just thought I'd throw that in there...

All so true. I just networked my way into, what could be, a very lucrative jv with a fellow warrior. Never talked before last week and now we have a cool plan to execute.

Never be affraid to make the ask. It's almost always worth it.

That's such an important factor in networking....don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. So many IMers work alone and become accustomed to working that way. You aren't going to lose your independence by networking. You are going to expand your horizons. Your business will benefit and so will you.
