Biggest Mistake In Internet Marketing I See

I don;t know if you will all agree with me or not, but, from reading forum posts, product revies I see the same thing over and over again....

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL IT MAKE ME....

There is the #1 reason why you are not making money.

Sounds like a catch 22 right?

Your first question when you decide to get into internet marketing should be "HOW MUCH VALUE CAN I ADD"

People don't want a product, they don't even really want to "know" information. They want a solution to a problem. People don't want eye glasses...They wanna see....

Instead of worrying about how much money you can make selling stuff. Think about how many problems you can solve and then do your best to solve those problems.

The #2 Problem is FOCUS.

Pick a niche/product/customer and go narrow and deep. Be the big fish in a small pond. Just help people solve problems.

You can even totally solve someones problem for FREE and they will still buy that information because of the law of reciprocity. It never fails. Even if they don't buy now - they will as long as you treat them right and, here we go again, solve their problems.

Stop asking how much money something will make you because nothing makes you money....YOU make YOU money....The products you buy are the tools that solve YOUR problem......If you use them with focus

I perfectly agree. People wants solutions to their problems.
Try to find "desperate" topics and try to give people REAL solutions.

I agree with you on both points.

However, if you do want to make money you need
to make sure that you deliver that value in a way
that gets noticed. Giving value without having flowed
it out, while it creates good vibes, can also produce
    few tangible results.

It can seem very tricky... especially for those who
want to see immediate, measurable results. That's
    often not possible.

      Hi Willie,

Would you mind elaborating a little bit on the part of your comment that I highlighted in red?

      Thanks, always, for your thoughts.

aaaaaaaaaaand what exactly does Home Power Generation have to do with this topic?

And to the greater topic, I think confidence can be a big factor. Confidence in that what you're doing will bring results. Rather, a lack of confidence kills. A lack of confidence and belief that will lead you to continue to do what you're doing UNTIL you see results. Often someone may go for the method hard for a week or so, see nothing happening, and instead of tweaking it or just keeping a head down and doing it until it works, then moving on to something else an continually repeating this process.

Yes, it's probably literally been said thousands of times here that FOCUS is so key, but there are also a lot of details such as lack of confidence and belief that lead to this lack of focus.

          • I completely agree with your 2 points but I would place Focus and determination in the #1 spot.

I have friends who have tried the IM business, all college educated brilliant folk, who failed miserably because they just wouldn't stick with it. I was able to buy a website for the cost of the domain registration from one of those friends who did all the right stuff, put up great content, wrote articles, focused on keywords, learned the basics of seo but gave up after 3 weeks because he wasn't rich yet! 3 months later, after writing only two more pages of content and submitting only one more article this site pulls in an easy $10/day. I haven't told him.

My point is: people just give up to easily. No commitment.

I think the biggest problem is laziness. People rarely work really hard for long periods of time without a boss on their ass grinding them... And without focused effort for a long time, it is very difficult to succeed at anything - especially business.

Another problem I think is that people find themselves in financial jams for a variety of reasons and then think IM is the "magic solution" that will bring in loads of cash in 2 weeks. It very seldom works that way. Its easy to get caught up in the hype chasing one IM-rainbow after the other and never finding the pot of gold. Actually, you have to create your own pot of gold, and you do that, one day, one week, one month at a time.

I've always found the biggest question asked many times when it comes to "make money products" has been:

    Is this easy?

Without a doubt I think you see that just as many times as the "How much money will it make me?" questions, if not more-so. For a long time I've always believed that if you wanted to make money the "easy" way you need to keep waking up to go to your nine to five job.

Trying to create your own business, no matter if its offline or online is hard work.

Another thing I'd like to add is analysis paralysis - over-analyzing things to the point where they do not take any action. Far better to come up with something quickly than to spend months coming up with something that is 'perfect'. Speed of implementation is an important mindset and skill in IM.

Thank you. If all potential internet marketers lived by this creed, there'd be a lot more success stories online.
It's not the first time I've heard this advice (Mike Filsaime at World Internet Summit Conference) about quality, problem solving and focus, and I wish I'd really taken notice that first time. I'd have reached my goals a heck of a lot sooner. I didn't realize just how important this message was.
How easy is it to be tempted to divert to the "next big thing" to see where that takes you?
Once you've researched and decided on your niche and the value you're going to offer, stay focused. Stay working on your own "next big thing". It's the magic formula for online success. It's that simple.

That's the problem that a lot of people fall into: they buy into products that they never put into work - you really don't need a lot of it because it only adds to your daily tasks. The real way to make money is to just work your ass off; hard to stomach that sometimes but that's how things get truly done.

2 tried and true pieces of advice John.

If you seek value in the form of money you must add value to the market. Your content should be usable so that it makes an immediate impact; when a reader digs your practical tips and puts them into action immediately you might have generated a sale, or at least some strong interest in what you have to offer.

As for focus I couldn't agree more. You can establish authority by attempting to wear 10 hats, or 2 for that matter. Stick to one thing and do it better than anybody on earth.

So true, I've built my business around giving everything away simply because it gets attention and in return people still pay for my products... This law of reciprocity really does work.

Very interesting story. Funny how that works out that way...

reminds of the guy who dug up oil, and was only 5 feet away from
stricking it rich before someone came and "finished" what he started.

It's tricky to get into that mindset. Almost as if...

no matter how many times you SAY it's important, it's hard
NOT to think about yourself making money first before you
solve someone elses problems. Your natural survival mode is
automatically, "how can I make money FIRST?".

It takes a mindshift change from the inside before it can be
expressed on the outside. But the great thing is that once
the shift is made, it's permanent.

It's something magical about solving peoples problems that
making money can't explain. It's almost like making money IS
an aftereffect of you wanting to solve a problem, and when
you do so you THAN make all the money you could want.

    But solving problems is hard...

perhaps it's why people pay good money to people who can
    do it.

When you solve peoples problems, they will be happy to help
you solve yours IF...you channel the energy right to accept
money for the problems you solve. This channel is called the
    skills of doing business.

One of the biggest mistake in internet marketing is not listing your site with search engines. It is surprising how many people use search engines constantly but do not bother to get their sites listed on these very same search engines. You should manually list yourself with each search engine to make sure you are listed where you want to be. Since search engines are different, find out how to move up on their listings. For more information about search engine submission and optimization, see the Search Engine Optimization & Marketing section.

Come on guys, of course everybody will ask "How much money can i make with this system blabalabla..." whenever they bought a product.

This is because tons of savvy marketers and guru wannabes keep on hyping and bragging and lying of how much money they have made with their systems!

So you cannot completely blame people who have dreams to succeed in IM to keep on asking "how much money can I make with this system"....anyway it is because of the money that most people got into IM at the first place. Isn't it?
If you want to solve people's problems than it is better to do charity work at some old folks home or join some charity organization.

In my opinion, until all the hypes and fluffs and lies stop littering the internet this kind of mindset will never end. After all most big names became super rich by selling hypes and fluffs and lies which built false dreams for aspiring marketers.
