i have a website but the keyword is very competitive with high PR sites ranking for that keyword in google, however i have got some long tail keywords with low competition in the same niche that i will like to target to bring me traffic from google. now i have some options.

i can do article marketing with ofcourse my site in the resource box, or i can create a blog and optimise it for the keyword and put my website link on the blog, i have been doing this but needs a big backlinking job.

so i thought why dont i just create a page on my main website instead of making a blog and have the keyword in the url, like www.website.com/keyword
now a few questions, would that url count as having my keyword there and could i easily get that page to rank in google with a good backlinking job and a keyword optimised article on my webpage.

A keyword in the sub part of the path helps a bit, blogs are routinely optimized so the post title appears in the page path. More content on your site helps, probably more than dividing it between the main site and a blog, once the main site is sufficiently populated you can branch out to creating blogs to bring in link juice. I suspect the benefit from article site submissions will be quicker.

I think any strategy as long as you will do it persistently and seriously will give a good result. Just keep the work and reap the harvest soon.

    hi yoyo,
even if your site is ranked by less competitive keywords that would not benefit your site. you must go with competitive keywords , make sure you post 2or 3 articles and blogs per day and all your keywords related to relevant content. work on internal and back linking just go with top10 keywords and surely in a month you will see a increment in your ranking.

Keeping keywords in URL will definitely be benefit you but keep in mind of breadcrum type url and and content must have PROMINANCE and OCCURENECE of keywords must be kept in mind.

There are more than 200 factors that determine how well one particular page will rank in Google for its keyword.

But it is my experience that two of the most important factors are:

    1. Having the keyword in the URL; and

    2. Solid link building that is stronger than the link building of the competition.

      Hi,

I believe yours is a well thought strategy that will work. If you do it this way:

Like you said you put the keyword in the url, website.com/keyword

would that url count as having my keyword there
yes, although just by having that keyword there you won't get top ranks. You need to get backlinks to this new page.

could i easily get that page to rank in google with a good backlinking job
Absolutely if you do that. Especially if your homepage has a good pr. This is good strategy if the keywords are low competition.

Plus yes if on this page you put a keyword optimised article that will absolutely help even more. I suggest you create an original article, write a new one therefore so the page will have original content not duplicate content.

Of course then you can also link to this page from your homepage, but this is absolutely optionally. For backlinkling job I suggest doing article marketing.

This strategy I think should absolutely work.
