Good conversion rate for Facebook PPC?

Hey guys,

What would you consider a good conversion rate with FB ads? I know, I know - it depends on your payout, the product, and the market, but what I want to know is sort of an average from people who regularly run FB ad campaigns across multiple markets and niches.

And by conversion, I mean SALE, not an opt-in. If any Facebook PPC-ers with experience can chime in, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Russ

I'm currently marketing my product on Facebook with tremendous results. I did a split test yesterday and we performed 7 times better than our top competitor.

    I'm doing on a good day about .5-1 ROI. So if you're spending $100, you're profiting $50 to $100.

Did you directly link to your affiliate offer, or to a landing page first?
Just trying to understand FB ad acceptance
      Thanks

I just ran a campaign to less than 10,000 facebook users (small niche) and I had a CTR of a .088% (51 clicks) spent $34 in advertising and had about $900 in sales. This was just over the weekend. I've stopped testing for the week.

That seems almost unbelievable. Can you shed any light on how you were able to achieve a nearly 3,000% ROI?

It was toys. Toy barns to be exact. These aren't cheap either. This is why I like facebook. I can target people who have already specified they are interested in certain things.

For example I would willing to bet you can find a large group of "Action Figure Collectors" on Facebook. Target ONLY them with an advertisement that ONLY they are going to pay attention to and you will make a sale.

This is what I also like about Facebook. You can find a really small niche that isn't saturated, and can be the only person marketing to it. You have the opportunity to profit in a big way.

Nice! But what percentage of your clicks turn into sales? Out of 100 clicks, how many purchase?

I don't need to know HIS conversion specifically, I'm just trying to get a baseline to judge how well FB converts in general. As a CB vendor, I have some people sending me pre-sold traffic, and others sending me "cold" traffic from FB and Google PPC. I've noticed that the FB traffic doesn't convert as well as Google, and I'm wondering if that's the norm or not.

Facebook gives you so much control over WHO see's your advertisement that if you are NOT converting you are doing something wrong. I would assume that if Facebook isn't sending traffic that converts the ad isn't written well or is mis-targeted.

For the record I have seen the most success when promoting physical products. Facebook is an affiliate marketers dream.

You can't get a baseline from his data and apply it to your products.

I think you already know that.

FB Traffic is tricky because they are not actively searching like Google PPC.

    Thanks Mike, good to know.

It's not my campaign, it's from one of my affiliates. Everyone else's traffic seems to be converting really well, so he must be doing something wrong. Meanwhile I'm sitting here going, "What the Hell? My conversion rate just plummeted!" :-)

I guess the targeting of the campaign and the ad setup must have a lot to do with it. This is why I love being a vendor and not an affiliate. ;-)

Sounds like you are making an effort to communicate with your affiliates? I would encourage you to maybe talk to him about who he/she is marketing the product too. Who knows they might be just a small tweak away from an avalanche of sales...
