Does anyone else find the latest Firefox keeps crashing? Mine's driving me nuts. I'm thinking of going back to IE or trying Chome.

    No problem here.
    Now before I physically cleaned my laptop (yesterday) and defraged it, yes FF crashed and so did my computer.

      Yes. I just went to a dual monitor set up and I thought that was causing it.

        Shannon I've been running a dual monitor for a couple of years so I know you can eliminate that as being the problem.
        Funny thing though, for about a week before the latest FF version I couldn't get FF to open on my second monitor like I have it set to do. Now after I downloaded the newest version it opens where I want it to.

    The easiest way to fix a Firefox issue is first use a program called Mozbackup to backup your Firefox settings and data. Then uninstall each addon you may have installed as it is usually an addon or extension that causes the problem.

    If you do not have any extensions or addons then simple uninstall and re-install a new copy. Once you have done that you can restore your profile with Mozbackup and get all your saved passwords, bookmarks, etc, back and you have a fresh, hopefully stable Firefox again.

      Yes, and that's why I reverted back to 2.0.0.16. I've been using Chrome lately though.

    I'm not having any issues, but my mother in law just started having crashing issues in FF. After abit of research it seems quite a few people are experiencing the same thing. It seems something is causing problems with the latests build.

    Firefox 3 is very stable. The only website where I've noticed it sometimes crashes is PayPal.

    But I should mention one thing. I don't use my PC the way most people do. For example I normally have 70-100 tabs open in 3-4 Firefox windows plus some 6-10 (average) other programs running at the same time.

    Yes, 99.9%+ of the time Firefox is very stable. Something I cannot say about Internet Explorer which becomes very unstable with some 20-40 tabs open on my PC. Fortunately, I do not have to use it most of the time any longer.

    If Firefox is unstable on your PC, it's probably because of one or more unstable extensions. Try uninstalling those you do not really use or need as the first step, if there are any. Also, a more detailed description of the unstability would help.

    For example: Does Firefox crash, get stuck, or simply does not open any websites or a particular website? Do you get any error message? What does it say?

    There are so many things that affect stability/instability of a web browser. Some may not be obvious. The more details you tell, the better the chance to solve the problem.

    +1 on the dual monitor causing the problem. I've been running dual monitors for years with no problems. I tihnk you should proably just remove FF and re-install

    As an alternative or temporary solution, you could try Firefox Portable - Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives . Does not need to be installed, can be launched from a USB Flash Drive etc.

    And regarding the dual monitors - I have been using that for 2+ years and no problem at all. Although both Nvidia & ATI still have somewhat questionable quality drivers for some of their video cards for Windows Vista.
