His elabs or infusion soft is not accounting for the
10-20% of marketshare that is not accepting auto loads of images via the
thunderbird client...

So what he's pitching is actually BETTER than expected...

I always wondered how they track open rate....

Anyway, if I learned one thing from Kern it wouldn't be "heres what I got" nor would it be "bad news" but it's send out videos that get the forum in your niche TALKING about you!

    Good point Sean

and not only Thunderbird. Gmail doesn't autoload images either and how many of us use that.

Because more and more email clients require you to manually download images (which a lot of people don't do) open rates are increasingly becoming less reliable as a measure of how many people read your email:

I for one, never allow Gmail to load images from any newsletter...
(Actually, whenever its possible, I chose to get newsletters in plain text).

So, you're correct... hist idea is better than the ratios he actually shown.

Rightly or wrongly, I don't send out emails to my list in html, (I always use text)

Reason being the odd times I've tried it, it ends up in my own spam folder (so I don't see the point in doing so). Nice to see people trying to push the boundries tho

Kim, I put it to you that it's not the HTML causing it to end up in the SPAM folder.

I send out an HTML email every week for one of my lists. My open rates are from a low of 34% to a high of 87%. It's all subject line related.

I keep my SPAM ALERT score to an absolute minimum and send out dual emails.

Let me ask you a question - how many real businesses send out text emails?

Macys, LL Bean, Costco type businesses.

            None.

Think about how sending out a nice HTML brands you....

I'll be moving all my lists to HTML.

            It's on my list.

I'd say it's actually a bit higher than 30% actually... for some reason I get 3 of his emails ever time they get sent out. I delete 2 and read the 3rd.

So "my" open rate is actually 100% even though it would show as 33.3%!
