Article Marketing. Easy Question. Can You Help?

Ok so I've been doing some article marketing to really round out my backlinking efforts but I had a question.

If I have 15 links all from ezinearticles.com, will they count all the backlinks or will only 1 count because they are from the same domain??

Thanks for any help guys.

I love it here.

Some gurus talk about diminishing returns from many links from a single site, but they're talking about 1000 side wide links bought on a hi ranked blog, your 5th backlink should count.

i would be more concerned about whether all of the links point to your front page. If an article is more relevant to an inner page of your site, consider linking to that inner page to mix things up, spreading the link juice and making things look more natural

Linking to your inner pages is called deep linking and it is a very effective technique to getting backlinks to your inner pages, getting them ranking well and driving traffic to them.

Don't underestimate the power of deep linking.

Wow, posted a new article two days ago. Just after reading some of this post and already on page 2 - position 2 of google. Now, lets see if the quality targeted traffic shows up.

Now make a video of each of these articles, put a link to your site in the description and get more (un-anchored) back-links. Do it with Tube Mogul or traffic geyser and get 10x the links for each video.

What do you think about turning a blog post to a doc and posting it to docstoc/sribd, then converting to a ppt and posting on slideshare.net, then turning the ppt into a video and positing that to youtube?

I don't think that scribd give you the hyperlinks in your documents. Docstoc and slideshare do... and I have seen docstoc get indexed within a couple of hours. Easy backlinks to get. Oh, and slideshare will let you upload pdf and word docs, too.

What if the links are all different anchor text? will you get credit for each one?

With Ezinearticles I would be more focused on trying to get people to click on my link. They can bring in some good traffic if done correctly.

Absolutely you will get credit for each one, whether they have different anchor text or not, although I think you will eventually experience diminishing returns.

It's good SEO practice to mix up your anchor text anyway. Think if you were Google and you saw someone who had exactly one phrase for all of their anchor text. Kind of suspicious looking right?

Yeah, the links would be credited. The diminishing returns also would hold true - in other words, given other factors to be the same, 10 different links from 10 different websites ought to count more than 10 different links from 1 website (EZA in this case).

        Yeah, they all count.

But at the same time, diversify! Submit to other directories & 2.0 sites, turn them into videos (like mentioned above), pull the audio & place it on podcast sites. Think along those lines. Oh, and don't forget to put the articles on your site too. Build up your web properties and syndicate the content all over the place.

    They certainly count.

Make sure that when you do that with ezine, or any other article directory, that you put the articles in different categories.

      Hi All,

Also remember that you can get alot of traffic to your site from Ezine etc..

I have one article on ezines which has really come to life.

This article has been viewed 1,536 time(s).
Article Submitted On: October 29, 2010

So remember that you look to have your ezine articles also ranking as they can rank quite easily with a little backlinking of their own. This way not only are you gaining an all important backlink, but you are also getting some good traffic to possible click your links and visit the site you are actually promoting.

      Chris.

Categories can be important for a number of reasons. Lets assuem for a minute you are planning on submitting articles to EZA in support of a website you have on the popular diet HCG.

Now, on EZA you have the option of submitting those articles in the weight loss category where they will sit with over 118,000 other articles or you can submit them in the popular diets category where you woudl compete with just over 8800 articles.

Lets take it one step futher. In order to get listed as a top author for the weight loss category you would have to submit a minimum of 158 articles just to get on the bottom of the page. To be the top author you would need to submit over 1500 articles.

On the other hand, to get listed as a top author for the popular diets category only 27 articles are rewquired and to take over the top spot you woudl only need 45 submitted articles as of right now.

You also have the option of submitting your articles in the obesity category where only about 3900 articles have been submitted. To become a top author only 14 articles would be needed with the top author only having 113 submitted articles.

Getting showcased as a top author for a category is huge because it provides additional exposure for your articles, your bio, your brand and provides another way to get more eyes on your expert author status.

With all that said only submit articles in a category in order to dominate it if it truly makes sense and compliments your niche.

      Hope this helps

        TimG,
Thanks for that bit of info. I really didn't think of that. I will have to see if I can find those numbers for the next article I submit. I'm not sure I have seen where it indicates how many are in each category.

To find those stats all you have to do is the following:

          1 - Go to EZA

2 - Click on any category on the first page. For example Health and Fitness

3 - This brings a drop down list of categories. You'll notice that health and fitness is listed again under the main category of health and fitness

4 - Click on the second health and fitness link. THis will list all of the categories and ho wmany articles are in each category.

          For example - Health-and-Fitness EzineArticles

          Hopefully that makes sense.

Maybe I should start a new thread but here goes.

Should you post your articles to your main site first. Maybe start an "articles" page or several "article" pages? Then post them on ezine articles and other places?

I have an ecommerce site. I have gotten some good links from articles on ezine articles and some other sites but wonder if I should have them posted on my site as well.

    thanks in advance,
    brad

That is what most of us do - post on our own site first and then to the article directories.

        Brad

PS, is it ok to post the exact same article both places or should it be spun a little?

I also agree in embedding links on inner pages as long as it’s related to them. This is also a great help for readers so they’ll not look around for the pages they need within the linked page.

In terms of sites like scribd, I’ve tried slidesharea and got backlinks from it. Haven’t tried scribd though.

As for the second part of your inquiry, yes. It has been a common practice among IMers to post the articles first on their home sites and then share it on article directories. And of course, not just on Ezine but also on other article directories for links.
