Ezine is the number 1 directory to submit to- it ranks really well and allows for a couple of backlinks in the author's resources box.

The only downside is that you have to wait a week for your article to be approved.

        Nonsense.

I have to wait up to 1 day (no, I'm not a premium member).

My friend, who's a brand new author, having submitted only 10 articles in total, has to wait between 2 hours and 2 days (as described in detail in this recent thread.)

Which article directories you should use depends on what you're using them for.

The important thing is to have (as surprisingly few "article marketers" do) a clear understanding of what an article directory is, why you're using it and what you're aiming to get out of it. To start selecting article directories, and articles, without first appreciating this is a recipe for inevitable disappointment.

Interesting... can you provide an example of a "quality" article by EZA standards?

Not my own, because they're all in pen-names I don't disclose, but if it's of any interest to you, you could see the articles of the friend whose "EZA encounter" I described in detail in this thread.

Here's her author profile. (All 10 of the articles she submitted had previously been published on her blog a year or two ago, but they still accepted them all very quickly and immediately made her "Platinum" on accepting the tenth).

              Hello there,
I've had the best luck with ezinearticles, articlesbase and goarticles, but have also used ideamarketers with some success.
              Good luck!

                Hello there,
Again, EZA have been the most effective for me. I don't mind the wait with Ezine, as while I'm waiting I'll submit more articles, so you don't really notice the wait. Plus, as you progress through the EZA ranks, the waiting times get slower anyway.

                Good Luck,
                Jake.

I have been using EzineArticles as well as ArticlesBase and was actually moved to Platinum author status after my first 10 articles so the wait isn't quite so long.

So my question is, as still a new person and not knowing alot that I probably should, what are the differences between the directories? What does one provide that another does not?

I chose the 2 I use because I can have one account with several pen names and manage them all from the one account instead of having several accounts to do the same thing.

So will someone lay it out for those of us that are still learning?

          Thanks!

Many of those are not article directories. This strange list is a mixture of article directories and "web 2.0 sites".

Ezinearticles and articlebase have been good to me.

As Alexa notes research the ezines. Decide why you want to write articles. This clarity will help guide you.

    EZA and Searchwarp for me.

I have found certain directories get more views for
    me depending on the niche.

So, as suggested do your research first.

Yes, but the application process is everything but rigorous. I sent the following text along with links to a couple of sample articles:

"Hello, my name is xxx and I am a full-time <insert profession>. In my free time, I enjoy <insert activity in your niche> and writing articles about my experiences to share with others."

I was accepted after like 30 minutes, so don't get discouraged by this "application".

        Hope that helps,

        - Andy Von

Ezine will bring you in 3 or 4 times more traffic per article (in my experience, with various article styles and niches)

scribd brings in as many people as Goarticles and articlesbase and is worth using if you don't already.

      OUCH!!! That is horrible advice.

How can an article directory no one visits, has no ranking power, and produces no syndication be equal to EZineArticle or Articlesbase where you can build tremendous ranking power, readers actually visit their sites, and webmasters pick up articles on a regular basis from their reservoir of articles?

Of course, a drop of water is the same as the ocean, except for volume.

And there speaks someone with "submit articles" in his sig-file. Rarely, if ever, have I seen here a nine-word sentence which imparts so directly the opposite to reality.

I'm glad to see you said CONTENT MARKETING and not just ARTICLE MARKETING.

    My favorite 3 are:

    EzineArticles
    Articlesbase
    GoArticles

Of course, since you are CONTENT MARKETING, spread the love to:

    YouTube
    MetaCafe
    etc...

    Squidoo
    Scribd
    Weebly
    etc...

    YOUR OWN BLOG FIRST

    PRLog.org
and other press release sites. (When it can fit the proper format and style.)

    Facebook Pages

Then keep one thing in mind on article directories, THINK SYNDICATION. Where will it have the best chance of spreading across the internet.

As a suggestion, in your niches find a few of the most viewed articles on EZA and then do a search for their content using Google. See if you can locate sites which picked up their articles.

Why? Because it never hurts to send a fellow blogger or webmaster a quick note through their contact page telling them about your new article which is on an Article Directory and may be a perfect fit for their site. Why wait for them to find you?

    its the best for me

Directories are a magnet for publishers. Most publishers are looking for specific articles on a specific topic and they are more likely to find such articles in a directory rather than in an individual e-zine that offers reprintable articles.
