What is this squeeze page crap!?

Why do fellow internet marketers insist on using a spammy squeeze page for their clients who obviously all know the ins and outs of squeeze pages...?

-FAT HEADING

-CATCHY LIE

-PLAY ON INSECURITIES

-FALSE TESTIMONIALS

-PHOTO OF PORSCHE

-ANOTHER CATCHY LIE

-SOME HALF-TRUE BULLET POINTS WITH BIG 'TICKS' NEXT TO THEM

-HOW MANY 'SPOTS' ARE LEFT

-FREE BONUSES

-THE FALSE PRICE

-..ANOTHER FALSE PRICE

-....ANOTHER FALSE PRICE

-......ANOTHER FALSE PRICE

-THE RRREEEAAALLL PRICE!!

Then you get those annoying popups when you want to leave the page..

Does this really give any credibility to the product on sale?

I mean, sure, I SORT OF understand the technique for most 'unsuspecting' niches, but why use these squeeze pages for fellow marketers.. we all know what you are doing..

What you are describing is a crappy sales page, not a squeeze page. That is generally something different.

But apart from that, good point made.

    • Some people just don't know any better
    • They read it in an ebook so it must work
    • Some of your fellow marketers apparently don't think much of you
    • People are still buying, maybe our fellow marketers know something we don't

Yep ... more than likely because it's working for them. Working optimally? They may not actually know. Also, there's a good chance it's a copycat kinda thing "If it 'works' for them, then..." It could also be some sorta cheesy PLR template or something too.

Totally get what your saying dude. It dont work on me thats for sure.

I buy **** that is genuine.

And like another warrior said, itrs probably cos they think its right. They dont know any better.

What id like to say to you is: who cares? Why do you care that some dumbass marketer has wasted thousands on design, code, hosting, traffic and launch to only make some of his/her money back.

Trust me dude, i have been so pissed off at marketers before, but where did that get me? I learnt that to go foreward just focus on yourself only and put your right foot foreward, who cares what others are doing or not doing. Its not making you grow is it?

        Yea I hear ya!

I never like to follow the trends so it doesn't make sense to me that soo many people use the same damn squeeze templates.

Oh well, more room for me to look more genuine

So, who among us has made the same offer on a traditional sales page and, say, a blog page? What were the results in dollars and cents? That's the only thing that matters.

There is no real sense in condemning traditional sales pages without facts. Lots of thing in life are annoying. But if they generate more income than other methods, I really don't care.

I hate it when my favorite movies on TV are constantly interrupted by commercials. I could scream because of the way they butcher movies. But I watch anyway because there is enough value left to keep me in my chair. Same goes for sales pages... until someone comes up with some hard facts otherwise, they are worthwhile to create and maintain.

It is not a matter of how people feel about sales pages, it is a matter of how much revenue they generate compared with other methods.

Most are just chasing the money and doing it to save time and hopeful they will get rich quick. They aren't doing it because they enjoy it. As far as copying something, or using PLR, it isn't a bad thing because every product out there could use someones creative ideas added to it to make it better!

Man I am with you on this 100%

I hate 99% of salespages I get put in front of me. I prefer video as it offers less opportunity for this kind of rubbish and gives the opportunity for the seller to establish a pre-sales relationship with the potential customer.

Although I have seen a worrying trend. That is some marketers think its really clever to have a complete 'scroll forever' sales page with a video at the top showing a powerpoint presentation of......the salespage! Yes, some bozo just reading out the salespage copy, lol. What a missed opportunity.

This is very true, the powerpoint presentations is what I'm talking about, although I have seen video's of the marketer scrolling the very same sales the person is on?

This is what I tell my students about Guru's, experts, etc using powerpoint presentations. IMO, the reason their using PP is because they don't know enough about internet marketing to give a demonstration video of what their doing from memory. Or their not able to teach without some sort of visual que reminding them what to say.

Now don't get me wrong, there are certain areas where you need to use a PP presentation to teach something. But to have 80-90% of your course in PowerPoint? Something is wrong somewhere if you ask me.

I run when i see a crappy sales page with all those characteristics.

I REALLY hate when i see a sales page for a product YET THEY NEVER TELL YOU WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS!

I leave those immediately. If i can't scroll down and see the actual product in action (video, screenshots, SOMETHING) then there is no FREAKIN way I will buy.

A lot of the crappy marketing materials you see out there come from wannabe marketers playing "monkey see, monkey do" without really seeing the whole picture first.

They download a PDF with the 'million best sales letters' and try to copy them without doing the homework first. They work desperately looking for "killer copy" so they can worry about important stuff, like where to stack all that money...

I agree that it's the copycat way of doing things.

As a web designer, I can always tell the clients level of knowledge simply by the terms they use. Once they use the term "squeeze page" it's a clue that they've read all the crappy ebooks out there.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it helps me speak their language.

I've learned when I attempt to buy things on the internet to always back out of the sales or squeeze page. Once you try to leave, you are often presented with a better (lower) price, and I've saved a TON of money this way!

I try to remember that when I write. I am not writing for me at my knowledge level, I am writing for someone who has a layman's level of knowledge (not that I'm some expert).

"Fellow marketers" are a large slice of the buying pie. I think I have an old e-book around here where I explain that for $14. In it, I share how enlightenment about this topic is really your last barrier to riches, or maybe second to last, I forget.

In any event, IM nirvana is within your reach. Since you are so close to understanding all the mysteries, there's no sense for you to to stop spending on IM products now. Just invest in a few more and you will be able to achieve the financial freedom that you could only previously dream about.

OMG, OP post is very intresting.

If I did not use squeeze pages, and offer high quality stuff, I would be broke.

I guess it comes down to personal preference.

I have done a lot of split testing myself.

Sure, I could use hyped up sales pages, double exit popups, weekly hardsell emails... I'd probably make more money too..

But it's just not something I am into. At the risk of sounding a little snobbish, I prefer my ethical marketing ways. I'm doing great without the use of lies and baby-talk to my clients.

Treat people how you would like to be treated.

I am always willing to spend money on services that I admire, and I personally won't buy a product if their sales page is too 'salesy'.

Either way, I guess, do what works for you, not what works for others.

      People use what works

There are two ways to get attention:

      Be the best

      OR

      Be annoying

Either way market research has proved that people will remember you, your brand name and your product and so you make sales.

Some people go for the "be annoying" route

I don't like it. I don't use it. But it does work for some
