question from a newbie

Greetings!

Jumping right in with my first post here on WF....smile....

Do any of you promote a physical product that you produce yourself (other than ebooks)?

Would you consider using word press and putting each item up as a separate post? From everything I've read this sounds to me like something Google would like, and I can easily add daily posts and build the product offerings up slowly.

I haven't across a site using this method and wondered if it's taboo...
So...instead of reinventing the wheel, I thought it worth asking...

thanks for your help!

  • I haven't seen anybody do anything other than Ebooks, but im kinda new here too, so hopefully a vet chimes!
  • When I first started 18 months or so ago I thought I wanted to get into Drop Shipping. LOL and then I found affiliate marketing, which was far easier and the margin isn't that much worse. I also had this idea that I was going to create a physical DVD product to help seniors use a computer. Again affiliate marketing ruined all of those plans.

It can be done but there are far easier ways to promote stuff online. If you were to promote your own products I would encourage you to use a shopping cart instead of a straight wordpress blog.
  • Not really sure what your asking, but I think you want to create a WordPress site promoting a physical product, by creating a post per product. With Google site structure isn't that important. What is important is backlinks, and what the anchor text in the back link really is.

So you could create a WordPress site with each post, but just make sure that the anchor text in the backlinks are the keywords you want to rank for.

    • Nickolie0990,
That's how I'm populating the site, with each product as a post. I'm using paypal for my shopping cart, and the buy button is in each post.

I have links on this site to some of my other sites, but that's not a backlink is it?...sheepish look....

Mostly I wanted to verify that the search engines don't frown upon this kind of setup, especially since a portion of each post is identical to every other post....

      thanks all
      sherryt
