Hosting Multiple Websites

Hi

I have quite a few sites and usually buy the hosting and domain for each one. I was wondering if i was to buy a hosting package that allowed multiple domains, could i just add the domains to the webspace as i need them?

I did try this before and it was such a headache redirecting and making sub folders and accounts etc is there a set up where i can create an account within my hosting and sort of "plug" in the domain name when i buy it. I'd like all this to be as simple as possible through a control panel as possible.

Would this have any implications for search engines or anything like that, or is that a myth?

Thanks!

Yes you can. I use Hostgator's baby package and have several domains hosted there.

My personal OPINION is that there is not a search engine downside on this approach.

    Hope this helps.

Go to Hostgator and speak to someone on Live Chat who will walk you through the steps you need to take to do this. It's very easy and once you do one you'll be able to do it again no problems.

Many of the cheap shared hosting services allow "unlimited domains" I find it a lot easier to manage domains on the same account than scattered around the web. A common server seems fine for low traffic sites. It effectively only costs a total of $10 to add and test a new site.

The down side of a common server is a common IP, which limits the SEO value of linking between the sites, and gives competitive spys an easy method to check out your assets.

Sharing servers with others has inherent security issues. The successful guys tend to use dedicated servers costing hundreds a month, and usually will have more than one site running from the server.

One compromise are seo hosting accounts that provide multiple C code IP addresses useful for setting up link wheel sort of arrangements, the cost per IP can run higher than separate hosting spreading around different hosting companies, but is easier to manage.
