Made my first dollar!! Plus my newbie question of the day

actually it was $1.17 via an amazon sale through Hubpages. I started on Hubpages this past Sunday so it hasn't even been a full week into my IM career.

I chose a niche I was interested in and wrote a couple review blogs but then I wrote an article on stocking stuffer ideas for guitar players. This was my best performer via google and led to 1 sale of two small items.

It is not much but it is a start. My goal is to have 12 hubs before Christmas, only do social bookmarking then see which ones stick. The ones that stick I will build links via article marketing. My main goal is to have around 50 hubs in 4 weeks.

I also have a niche site that I am working on as well while building hubs.

Now for my newbie question of the day:

Are there any good free auto social bookmarking programs out there and/or free article submission programs?

(also my other goal is to ask one newbie question a day on this forum to keep me learning without wasting too much time researching instead of acting)

  • Can't think of one right now, but why don't you do a search in the product review section, its bound to bring up something?

Free article submissions either Goarticles or Ezine seem to be the best.

I think he knows the directories, but is asking for a free programme that submits his articles to article directories for him.

Really, i haven't been searching around for that but i doubt there'll be such a great deal. Do it yourself manually, or you have to pay for it.

Social Marker isn't just a list of sites that are social bookmarking sites. It has a manual submission page that submits to each of the social bookmarking sites with a check box next to it. If you are logged into each of the social bookmarking sites, it prepopulates the fields for each social bookmarking site's submission page. So although it is somewhat manual, it is still quicker than being completely manual.

But like I said, it is free.

I have used Social Marker (dot com) as a way to do social bookmarking. The website has a free version that is not fully automated, but still helps speed up the process of social bookmarking a web page (did I mention it's free?).

They have a fully automated tool called Bookmarking Demon, but I can't comment on it as I haven't used it. Still. I hope this information is helpful.

I remember the first day that I earned a $1 through Amazon. Great stuff! It's fun to earn money...

Can you post a link to the HubPage so that we could help "thumb up" your site for more traffic? After all we are a community of marketers, right?

    Sincerely,
    Fred

thanks for the replies I'll check out the bookmarking tools mentioned. It looks like I've gotten over the initial Hubpages traffic bump and things have died down considerably. So i'm working now on typing up a new hub as we speak.

I can't link to my hubpages as my post count is too low but my hubpage
      username is jbroyer44.

also i got my adsense approval yesterday so now i can start getting some clicks there as well.

      thanks again,

      -Jay

    Hey J,

A fellow NH IMer. Nice to have you Bro! I'm in Portsmouth. How about you?

I know you're looking for free SB sites, but I just wanted to make sure you're aware of Onlywire.com. You get 1000 submission/mth for $10 and they automatically submit to about 40 SB sites instantaneously with one click. Could be a good use of your capital...

I have been thinking lately that i'm going to have to get into niches that im not as familar with to make some real money with amazon. How niches would you promote under one hub account?

It really depends on what your goals are with this. Are you building a business or are you just trying to make a few extra dollars?

If you're goal is to have an online business that's consistently producing great results, here are some things (that I learned the hard way) that will serve you well if you consider -

Making money online is not a business. Selling advice for guitar players, for example, is. Online marketing is the vehicle that you use to run your business. Pick something that you have expertise in or that you have a passion to gain expertise in and go to work on building a business around that and only that.

Then, after that business is up and running, if you so choose, venture into something else that interests you.

If you try and sell things you aren't familiar with, and you don't know how to do effective market research in order to get a real sense of your target market so that you can connect with them and build a certain level of repore, you're dead in the water.

That being said, let's say that music/playing the guitar is your passion. (I've been to your website so I know that it must be. I play the acoustic so it's a passion of mine, too). You're an expert in that field already. You may not know more than everyone else on the planet but you certainly know more than the vast majority of people looking for advice in that area.

Learn how to package that expertise up and sell it to would be seekers of such advice. (create your own products)

It takes a little time but it's much easier than you think once you learn the ropes and, income-wise, you will absolutely crush anything you could hope for messing around with Amazon. Not that there's anything wrong with promoting Amazon products. You made your first dollar in a week. It took me 6 months.

Study marketing. Learn exactly why people make the decision to buy and what triggers such a decision. Learn all about how you can position yourself in such a way that people know, like and trust you and see you as the expert in your given field. Learn who your target market is. Who's buying the products you want to sell and why are they buying?

Learn business. What makes a business successful and why do most fail? How can you build yours so that it's still around in five years and growing.

These things are a must if you want great results.

If you're interested, I have an amazing course at my house that I can hook you up with for free (since we live right next to each other). It will teach you everything you need to know to build a lasting, massively successful empire online and it will save you a lot of time and aggravation trying to figure out the IM game.

Since you can't send PMs yet, email me at - jason_e_lewis@hotmail.com and we can make arrangements to get it to you.

      Hope this helps...

Congratulations! Hubpages seems to be doing pretty well lately in rankings.

I use this free bookmarking tool a lot - IMAutomator They have a paid version, but the free version allows you to submit 10 links a day.

After that, article backlinks are another great free way to increase your rankings. You can also link your hubs on similar topics together to increase their rankings.

That's awesome man! Looks like you've stumbled onto a system that works. Even with just a little money made, you've shown that it works and you know what you've done to get it. Now just keep building them out and reuse the money to eventually build up your own web properties.

As for submission ... everyone else already beat me to it. Social Marker and OnlyWire were what I was gonna suggest. I don' know of free article submitters though. (Manually submitting always worked better for me anyway).

If you have a little bit of money you can spent, you could check out the cheap, but good software from Incansoft.com. That site's run by fellow warriors and the software usually is no more than $25-29 or so each... but they run coupon codes were you can get their stuff for $15 or so.
