Get own domain for product or not?

Hi,

I've just completed writing a new ebook and would like to know the pros and cons of giving it its own domain name or just creating a new web page on my main site that receives 30K/month ie domainname.com/product.

Thanks

It depends what your goals are, but nine times out of ten you'll want to give it a new domain. Especially if you want other people to promote your product in the future. The only instance I can see where you would throw it on your existing site is when you'll be the only one promoting it, and if it's related to your existing website.

Personally I'd go new domain. You can always create an article on your 30k a month site linking to the new one.

Makes sense...thanks for the swift response.
Any ideas on getting testimonials for the sales page?

Build a new domain for the new product. Make sure that the domain is keyword rich. Put quality content on it and it will soon become as good, if not better, as your old domain.

Don't put an entirely new wine in an old wineskin unless they are exactly identical.

I vote for your own domain. Same reasons everyone stated above.

It depends really on what you want to do.

I have a mix of both, and the ones on their own domains seem to do better, but it depends on who's buying it and who's promoting it.
