Affiliate programs for the long haul - earn money again and again from one time work?

Hello there,
To make affiliate marketing a real business and long term cash producing asset, I figured you need to have the kinds of programs that pay life time commissions, are multi-tier, offer residuals. So in searching for such programs, found following link:

Residual Income :: Lifetime Commissions :: Affiliate Programs Directory

As with most things, the challenge of course to separate the ones that convert well.

Say if you had a list of evergreen products that pay well and even better on a residual basis in your online portfolio, imagine the peace of mind you will have knowing that you will earn for a long time to come.

With that in mind, what are the best programs that you have seen out there?

Rather than trying to find and promote affiliate programs that "convert", it actually works best to get the "affiliates" first, by building your list and then find a program that fits your niche. Statistically, the chances of any affiliate program to last more than 3 years is less than 1%. This is not to say to stay away from new affiliate programs, it just means the chances are slim.

      Thanks for your reply.

Even if some affiliate programs don't last long there are definitely some out there that are thriving. If you can find the ones that have weathered the ups and downs of time, you are good to go.

For example, NetFlix has been around for a while and they have an aff. program.

      How about dish tv?

I bet there are at least a couple of good ones in the major niches (health, wealth, love, stocks, forex, dating) and building a portfolio of those as an affiliate could be a good way to build long term business that brings in good money.

      More ideas?

It doesn’t have to be a specific item you could cover a certain niche and supply the niche with products to promote.

It seems more logical to me, to work hard to generate sales and then get to enjoy residual income (no matter how long it lasts), rather then promoting some $27-click-button-and-get-rich product that gets tons of refunds. Seems like a no-brainer to me eh

yes, exactly. To promote a product and earn one time commission is not lucrative because you will always need to look for the next sale. To make it your worthwhile, one could do couple things:

    1. Build a list so market to them later
    2. Select an affiliate program from the get go that pays as long as the customer stays with the merchant. An example would be a membership site that pays you recurring commissions.
    3. Select an affiliate program that pays on a tiered basis, so you can get others to become an affiliate of the product (or better yet, of the recurring membership site) so you can make money from the newly recruited affiliates.

Imho "the best programs" are the honest ones in the first place. Also important are : good traffic and sales tracking, solid product to promote, reliable and fast support, powerful advertising tools.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Programs like that fit the bill. I would look for solid programs and not necessarily the latest sexy/ or in thing. Prodcut launches are ok for quick cash infusion but going for the long terms and established programs is the best way to go IMHO.
