leafblowers-reviews seems to be dead for me.

I noticed leafblower-reviews is an empty blog that might be buyable, probably a higher traffic KW.

I saw a blower with a muffler in the wand pipe that made it much more quiet, you could write about city noise ordinance conformance, if there are models that are exempt.

That consumersearch site with their multiple hi pr results must haunt your dreams.

    Hi Steve,

    I can see your site

Nice design...nice niche..well thought out. Should do well.

My only advice -- clean up the spelling & grammar. Leaf blowers aren't cheap, therefore your visitors will be expecting a certain level of professionalism before they trust you and buy from your links.

Remember, you're there to recommend and move them on (as quickly as possible)...so make your words fit as precisely as possible with what they're expecting to hear.

    Cheers,

Ok but room for improvement. I wouldn't have the site go straight to the About section. You need to make the image in the review a clickable link to Amazon. The grey text under Catagories is too hard to read, it needs a colour more visable.

The site looks to squashed and narrow. I don't know how flexible Flexibilty 3 theme is but if you can widen the page, i would. Also, id recommend installing the Clean contact plugin and adding a Privacy Policy.

This is an amazon site but you have no prominent links going to amazon on the landing page unless I'm missing something.

I think you should link your photos to your amazon page.

And that Groupon Adsense is rather distracting. I suppose Adsense chooses the ads and I don't know anything about Adsense but is that a good idea? To have it competing with your amazon efforts, I mean.

I'm still learning so this is from a newbie's point of view.

The 3 things that popped into my head first off:

1: You mention it's an Amazon site, but I also see big 'ol black/green/orange Adsense blocks on the right. Are you looking for dollars from Amazon or pennies from Google? Or just anything?

2: People love to click pictures, I'd personally link them straight to amazon ... (I bet your visitors would too .... wink, wink)

3: The links you have in the content are lime green. They kinda get buried & disappear reading the text. Not saying this as gospel, but blue links are just about nearly expected online ... maybe that's something to look into.

Anyway, that's some quickies that popped into my head. Hope it helps!

The spelling really does need some attention. For example, there is no such word as "leafs." It's "leaves." Quite essential to know when the site is about leaf blowers. :-)

Overall the site looks pretty good and you might have performed some of the modifications suggested by other warriors. To get better rankings in Google they do look for privacy and ploicy pages etc as part of the quality score.

I notice you do not allow comments or at least at the moment. I shall be pleased to hear what others have to say; I would have thought allowing comments would be adding fresh content automatically. You would have to moderate in the case of bad comments or spam.

Surprised no one else spotted this, but... avoid using that grey hat (or possibly black hat) backlinks in your footer.

You have 3 backlinks pointing to different completely unrelated sites, in a sense that has no relevance to the visitors.

Take these off before Google spots them.

Looks like you've already received some useful feedback. I'd also:

Add some links on the homepage to the reviews you have written using the product names as the links.

Include a clear call to action on all of your pages telling people to "click here to buy this XXX from Amazon" or similar wording. At the moment your links aren't prominent enough.

Add some sub headings to your reviews to break up the text and tell people the downsides to the blower as well as the upsides. The more balanced the review the more people will trust you and click through to buy.

Adsense and amazon work very well.... despite what people say. having adsense on the top left of a site is the best place for it as most people know whether or not in a few seconds if the page is going to useful and the top left is an adsense hotspot.

I see you have made a few changes...

Design a better header graphic... does not need to be perfect and only takes a few mins

Change the title from Home to a title that includes your keywords and try and make it compelling and interesting :-)

I prefer to have teh categories running along the top and scrap the about us and site map etc and stick them in teh footer as most visitors tend not to care much about those pages :-)

The amazon widgets are pants and dont convert in a side bar... they do ok in posts but I would loook at tryin trying to avoid them... even in ifd you just have some images and link them to amazon... that would work better.

    Scrap the archives... no relevence

The adsense in the bottom is tragic... the trick with adsense is to try and blend them in have a look at this wso http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ml#post3029410

zeus is a well respected warrior and makes a lot of cash from adsense and ebay from doing sites just like this. I learnt a lot from him even though I do not build the sites like he suggests what I learnt has given me better conversions.

Ideally the reviews should be 1000 words or there abouts with a fair amount of links pointing to amazon throughout.

Another warrior to check out is Dan Brock I recently did a review of his latest product check out my blog to see how I got on.

Its good you have made a start and that is more than most but just keep tweeking and testing :-)

    Good Luck

Put the exact model name and number in your review titles this should help in the search engines.

The site looks good, I'd get rid of the adsense and the amazon widgets cleaning the site up a bit more, this would also eliminate exits via adsense.

I have been using Flexsqueeze themes and you can remove the date and author from that in the settings.

There is also a plugin you can use to remove the date or you can just get rid of the code.

Adsense should be self optimsing based on what is on teh page... I am taking a punt that you saw those ads becasue the site is not exactly optimised and the content is a little thin (no offence meant)

Using exact model is always good as mentioned above

I don't know if this has already been said or not, but I would have your main picture clickable with the link going to this product on Amazon. The one's on your pages are but not the one on the home page.

I would also have some more 'call to action' links other than just the 'here' word highlight with the link. I would have something like:

"Click Here to get a discounted price on the blah blah blah blower"

and have the whole link hyperlinked.

    Nice theme though, good site!

I have to say that review of about 1000 words is what converts best... and you will see when and where you neeed to put links to amazon... I normally just scroll through the site and make sure that at any one time there is a link to amazon visable :-)

Also I would look at making a folder called recommends and have your affiliate links in there that redirect to amazon... this will then mean if for what ever reason you have to change the links to amazon to some thing else you only have to change one php file rather than links righ accross the site.

Just google php redirect code failing that drop me a PM :-)

Not sure I haven't used that one.

Basically you just install the plugin, then you put in your affiliate link and the name you want to call it. Then your links will look something like:

        yourdomain.com/go/affiliate

You can add as many different links on the site as you like and it also counts the click through on the links.

Nice site for a first go. Well done.

I notice two major issues that others probably mentioned already.

    1) you have no call to action. You need to tell people what to do once they are on your homepage. Tell them to read a review, or tell them your top recommended electric vs petrol models.

    2) grammar. Make it rock. It's not good as it stands now. It will create bounce.

Now fix this, create a process to define what you are doingband then start outsourcing. I suggest you do your niche research and outsource the reviews for now. It will free up a lot of time to grow. Then outsource all wordpress stuff and promotion.

You would outsource already? I would try and learn and get things right first and so you have an exact plan of action that you can use as it will be the blind leading the blind.

I out source a lot now due to bad health but you need to know what your doing so you can explain to teh out sourcer exactly what you want and how you want it. If you dont really know you could just be throwing good money after bad and in my opinion that is not good.

spend time on this site get it ranking and making money and then use that money to out source the next one.

Seeing as its your first site and not a fully fledged business outsourcing so soon just seems bonkers to me

I think you misunderstood me. I never said you should outsource NOW. I said you should fix the site and then define your processes clearly (as in making several other sites so you get it right). THEN outsource. Nothin' bonkers about it dude.

Sibster, good start, taking action is the 1st step.

    1 point and 1 question:

    - the spelling man, as many have said get someone to spell check it or copy and paste it into microsoft word and spell check it there

    - the grey box 'testimonials' look good as they draw attention of the reader, does this come with the theme or from somewhere else?

    Cheers
