Should I stick to what I know?

Okay, I know someone is going to yell at me for not "focusing on one thing", but I'm getting to WP blogs set up and monetized, and I was wondering, for my next project, should I look into marketing something I know inside and out? There is one niche, (or over-niche, lots of sub sections of this) that I have been passionate about since I was a preteen, it is a huge influence in my life, and I know not only are there CB products involving this, but other non CB products I could promote as well.

I am familiar with many of the products in this niche, the non-marketed aspects of this niche, and have seen multiple aspects of the sell of the good or service I'm thinking about trying. I could do affiliate sales and whether profitable or not, it would be fun.

Or should I do the whole "recycle old information in a new way" info-product?

Sorry for the stream-of-consciousness above, but I just thought of it thanks to sleep deprivation and caffeine. Thoughts anybody?

Depends on what you know. I mean, I know a lot of stuff that no one's willing to pay money for.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

This is a multi-billion dollar niche that has been around for a long time.

There is probably a lot of competition, but I am somewhat of an armchair expert on it, I read at least 6 books a year on the over-niche, know the products being sold inside and out, and even know how step by step how to do the things mentioned in most books before I read them.

I also know how to combine the various strategies to amplify the results promised by the info-products.

I'm just jacked up on coffee and thinking too fast to come to a logical and not emotional decision about this.

Then there is money in it.

The thing is to not worry about the competition but focus on how you can differentiate yourself in the market and to what segment of the market you can bring value.

Not necessarily, although that would be a good start. There are many niches of which I know absolutely nothing about, but such a little thing as that has never stopped me. Go find the experts, do some research, or hire some writers specializing in your field(s) of interest.

working with something you have a passion for might give you the needed extra motivation to sustain the effort. Your certainly more like to come up with original content that will tend to be longer lasting than recycled material.

Well if you are really passionate about a certain niche, then by all means try to make money from it. I don't care if there are gazillions of competitors in that niche. Your passion and interest in that subject/niche will enable you to trump most of your competitors, who are probably not as passionate or interested on the subject as you.

If you know it well, and are passionate... and there is a market for it, why not?

You'd be crazy not to. Remember that many of the products may not be written by experts, so it should be easy to position yourself as the go-to expert.

And apart from the initial product, think of all the back end income you could make by offering "advanced" products such as coaching courses etc.

Wow! I just finished doing some research on this niche(it is a money making niche) and found that while there is plenty of information on one technique or another, there is no inclusive info product. Would this be a good place to start? Creating a product that covers the basics as well as advanced techniques, and maybe some step by step instructions on how to get started? Or should I do like everyone else and pick one strategy to sell?

All of my study on business says to differentiate yourself, but I feel a bit apprehensive creating something comprehensive when it doesn't seem many other people have tried it?

To get a little more specific, while searching for individual techniques, I turned up hundreds of products, but searching for general information and "xxx xxx basics" or "xxx xxx essentials" I turned up less than a dozen products, mostly free information on forums and online clubs, which doesn't seem to cover more than a couple of avenues for this money making method.

Even clickbank, which has quite a few products for the searches I used, nothing was comprehensive, covering the dozen or so techniques that can be used.

So, do I create a total package?
