I personally feel there is really only a few ways to get traffic, the rest comes down to how creative you can get

    example:

    SEO
    Articles
    Blogging/commenting
    Videos
    Forums
    PPC,CPM,PPV
    Ad/list Swaps
    Media Buys
Classified ads (I never really consider this but people do)
    social media
list building (this is probably the best)
    Social Bookmarking
    joint ventures
and probably some more I'm blanking on right now.

ok, maybe there is quite a few. But really none of these are secrets and honestly there are no secrets to getting traffic to your site. Just pick one of these and spend a whole day doing it, and whatever one you have the most success with go with .

      .

I like how you highlighted this one. Listbuilding...

and yes!....you are correct. If I did not have lists to market to online, I would make $5.43 per week online. It true, I calculated it out, carried the 1, and rounded down!

The best advice I can give is to become a product creator so you have your own product to sell. It gives you so many advantages that affiliates don't have.

You can build your reputation, have affiliates doing the work for you, run a WSO, build a buyers list, etc. You get all this when you take the leap and create your own product. It just gives you a lot more leverage than you get with other methods.

I agree man. Having your own product is by far the best way to go. Otherwise your doing more work just to build other peoples reputations and line their pockets.

There are many. I'll give one.

Roam major forums, which ever niche you want. Learn what people are buying or want to buy. E.g on Warrior forum many people buy SEO services.

Develop a product or service on that. Sell that to the same forum audience.

This is one of the quickest ways to make money online.

Thanks for the list but if you could tell which one was the best which worked for you then it would serve the purpose of this thread.

I think most of the really successful marketers will agree that building a list is by far the most effective strategy.
List building is one of the methods that work great but consume a lot of time. But you can really build profitable lists in no time if you know how to do it. Thanks for sharing.

Not everyone can create a useful product or service but thanks for sharing, it seems like this was the one thing that worked best for you

Blogging and article writing work for me.

The more I create the less I compete. I also do quite a bit of networking with other bloggers.

Whatever strategy you use put your heart and soul into it. IM becomes easier when you have a passion for what you do.

Creating products in small niches in CB sets you up for the long term. You get a list, a following, and most importantly $$ without competing with every man and his dog.

I have been doing it for a couple of months and my aim is to "totally" master it before moving on to a new method.

Good for you- mastering one thing at a time will pay you for a long time to come, and the next thing you be master will be much easier.

My contribution to this thread would be just that-- master ONE thing at a time.

I had my success by creating a huge number of niche microsites. I then reinvested that money into an application I just released to help others manage the same sort of strategy.

It took me a couple of years to perfect this method but even now I don't spend much time managing my sites and they're bringing in some passive income this holiday season.

Before this though I tried virtually all of the methods listed in this thread. I guess the best advice is to try a few of them and stick with the one you enjoy the most. Since it'll likely take a while to get really good at it you might as well do what is enjoyable to you.

    Good luck!

I create niche sites and sell products on them as an affiliate. Then I use whatever SEO tactics in my arsenal that I can to get my sites to the top of the search engines. Working pretty well so far, and I've only been doing this for about 7 months.

It's not about the best, but what works for you.

For example, PPC is excellent to get traffic, but it's not my thing.

For me, PPC is not the best because I'm so weak at it that it doesn't make me a cent. If I was to use it, I'd outsource to someone who knows what he is doing.

Building my own network of sites. I think focusing on just one or two niches helped too. Diversity is good but if you spread yourself too thin, everything gets harder to manage.

My advice - perhaps only relevant if you are looking to build an authority site - is to focus on high quality content. Combine that with being prepared to do what your competitors AREN'T prepared to do - and you will do well in your chosen market.

    1. Find a keyword with at least 1000 exact searches, making sure that it's something people search when they want to make a purchase.
    2. Purchase the domain keyword.com
    3. Set up Wordpress with some basic plugins and a great theme
    4. Hire a freelancer to write the content for the website.
    5. Create forum, blog and article backlinks.
    6. When the site reaches #3 of first page of Google find an affiliate program and direct people to the product.
    7. Make a few tens of dollars a month.
    8. Repeat from step 1.

    Doing thorough market/niche research.
Setting up a blog and driving traffic with article distribution.
Testing the market with Affiliate Products.
Setting up an autoresponder series and squeeze page.
Test the autoresponder series with Affiliate Products.
Tweak the campaign while testing results.
Expand into additional traffic methods - usually only video distribution.
Consider whether I want to create a product.
(Rare that I do create a product, likely a mistake. Rare = 1 product out of about 20 niches tested)
Keep Building SEO traffic and a content cluster.

    Start over with next idea.

Last step...but perhaps most important. Realize many tests are going to fail. Don't worry about it, just move on and try the next thing. This can be a failure in my research, my belief about buying habits of the market, ability to rank highly, or a myriad of other things. Doesn't matter. If it fails you just have to move on. (May not mean leaving the niche, but changing your "beliefs" about the niche and how you market to it.)

Final Note..I promise. A test is not writing 10 articles and saying "it doesn't work". A test is driving enough traffic through your system to see real results, positive or negative. This might mean 10 articles or 50 articles.

Competition research, social media and finding the right niche. Since your competition has been in the market, you must know how to match them and what they offer the market. Social media for viral promotions and of course, niche that is really profitable but within my interest.

My best strategy comes from narrowing down your business into 4 departments.

    - Product creation
    - Copywriting
    - List building and nurturing
    - Finding affiliates

All you need to do is focus your daily activities onto these four areas, you will make money online....period!!

Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo and Hubpages interlinked with article marketing has worked out great for me.

Another technique not mentioned is use all available marketing tools online (they all work in their own way) to drive massive traffic to Amazon associates. If you send them, Amazon is very optimize to convert the sales for you.

Here's a common one that works for me:

Buy aged domains with backlinks and pagerank and create ebay or amazon product sites. Don't worry about ranking your homepage - the focus of this strategy is longtail and brand name keywords. As the google keyword tool does not usually display these types of keywords you will need a research tool that does. This tool will mine a lot of brand name keywords but does not give you search volumes (i use it together with market samurai)

Best keyword research tool - Best Wonderwheel Scraper

Find a good competition analysis tool (i.e. market samurai) that will help you refine your list to 50-100 decent keywords with at least 100 global exact match searches per month and low competition and create posts or pages for those. Tag your posts with at 6-10 related keywords.

Do a little backlinking, or get some kind of decent automated backlink system so that each of your sites continues to get links. Direct half your links to the home page and half to specific inner pages on the site. Rinse and repeat.

You can easily justify spending $100 on a pr 4 domain with 1000 backlinks, when you consider that you might have to spend anywhere from $200-500 (or a heck of a lot of time) over the course of a couple years to get you there.

The one strategy thats worked best for me in almost every aspect of IM is to analyze and model what other successful people are already doing. Figuring out why they are doing what they are doing and then breaking down what they are doing into some kind of structure that I can use to.

I've used this approach to help me write pre-sell content, create ppc ads, help create a product outline, etc.
