Is article marketing a dead duck?

The short answer is no. Far from it.

I don't know about you, but I don't write articles for google to read.

One of my articles I posted in Feb 2009 brings in about 70 subscribers to one of my niche sites per day (pretty cool). Those subscribers equals sales, and people I can market to down the track.

How can you call that DEAD.

I really get sick of people saying this. If you have a good article, write well that uses the AIDA principle....ie. attract, intrest, desire, action.....get them clicking the link then if your article is high quality get ready to watch it go viral and see some nice results.

Your focus is on quality. Too many people come in here and whine about how articles do not work. But there is a special process. I outsource all of my articles these days, and i know the writers are good,

once you have something that works and gives results....why reinvent the wheel.

Anyone that says article market will not work for 2011, 2012 (if we are still here ) does not know what they are talking about.

I rely on about 15 traffic sources, but I can say my article marketing efforts are the top three traffic sources for optins and sales.

I have a site that is penalized by Google (I think), nowhere near the first page, yet it's been making regular sales simply because of my article directory posts. I barely have any idea what I'm doing, either. I just posted the articles to get backlinks, not to drive traffic.

So yes, it still works. :p

Yeah, probably.

Is it dead when writing articles for more trusted sites?

IMO: not by a long shot.

All depends on the context ;-)

Google has never given preference to any type of site.

They have only given preference to behaviours.

If you behave in a way that Google has noticed people like, Google will reward you with higher rankings.

If your behaviour stops being what people like, whether because you've changed or they have, Google will stop rewarding you.

This is what made Google different. Most search engines before Google were trying to classify sites based on what they are or what they have. Google pioneered the practice of classifying and ranking sites based on what they do.

Today, of course, all the search engines do that. Some better than others, because it's really hard for some people to wrap their head around this idea.

Some IM's say its best to just submit them to the top 6 directories and 1 article a week may be sufficient when starting out. Haven't tried it yet.

What is dead, in my view, is article spinning. Unreadable computer-wrangled trash, at least for me, has not achieved anything even when auto-submitted to tons of directories.

I agree with nemock and others that true original content articles can do just fine.

Pure poppycock. AM is still a great way to generate backlinks. The more ip addresses you can post your link and anchor text the better.

article marketing is not a fad, its been round for many years, and works.

Think about it, you are giving real content and preselling your prospect.

IT is not like crappy spammer autoblogging, where you are using someone elses content and automatically spamming the net with it.

Verdict, article marketing tried and trued.

Yup, another ploy. Article marketing was there way before youtube, facebook, adwords... and it's not going anywhere soon...

Article marketing is alive and well. I have one article on ezine that brings around 600 people per month to one of my blogs. It's all about keyword research.

As many warriors have made clear, it's a ploy. Article marketing is still very powerful.

Although, it can be challenging when first starting and also to remain consistent, Article Marketing is the king of long term targeted traffic and when executed properly the results you will experience are nothing short of amazing.

I've experienced the power and effectiveness and will continue to write quality articles.

While article marketing is not dead, Google gives preferred treatment to blogs with videos in them first.

So if you are focusing on writing, the facts are 60% of traffic is driven by VIDEO so turn your article into a video while you are at it to get more juicy traffic for free.

Google called me up yesterday. They said they are only giving preference to links from porn sites so just go ahead and put all your links on porn sites, everyone.

a class i took with leah and toby the other week; a few vids on YouTube, and a couple articles. don't have my notebook with me but i know i did not write down the YT or articles. i'll see what i can re-find.

i remember being in the class thinking: really? so did some digging myself and found that their stats were on point.

Sounds like a marketing stitch up, articles are what make Google tick, article directories have a ton and Google love them for it. Still works for me when I market online, people love them, Google loves them so yes they still work and will continue to work forever online.

Article marketing is only effective if you write a Lot of articles. 1 or 2 won't do it. You have to be a consistently GOOD writer, offering value in your articles. You can give advice, tell your experiences, be funny or humorous or entertaining, or provide good information on something you're an expert on, but Ezine Articles, among others, is well-liked by Google. If you write everyday, with quality content, design a compelling bio with your link, you should see results and profit.

Article marketing is far from dead. Though submitting to article directories is so 2005, it still works. Content marketing, which utilizes article marketing, is far more effective.

If that were true blog networks would have already stop from opening. Last minutes I've seen more and more blog networks and services similar to the old articlemarketer.com...there's a reason for that

Article marketing is not dead.If you can do it in proper way it will be the best internet marketing strategy to get some sales or income.

Even if it was dead (which it is not) and the article directories were frowned upon by Google it doesn't change the fact that your submitted articles can be syndicated across the sites of other webmasters. Some of those sites will rank well and drive lots of traffic to your website while others will not do as well but still send a link back to your site.

I personally believe that article marketing is morphing into a new method called content marketing. When you take the view point that we are now engaging in content marketing you'll see that article marketing is a subset of that overall strategy.
