  • Most importantly you should deliver what they signed up for, if you deliver opn your promise they won't unsubscribe.

Send useful information with out pushing the advertising.

Whilst your list is building hit them perhaps just once a week, and spend more of your time building the list.

This is the big problem with the "desperate buyer" niches most people choose. Once the desperation goes away, they have no further need for you. So you are left scrambling, trying to see what else you can offer. Since the common factor that brought list members together no longer exists, you end up shooting blind into the dark and hoping for a hit once in a while.

Even the feedback you've gotten - "health topics" is so broad as to be useless for targeting.

  • Hi LifestyleTrans! My opinion is: Provide them content showing reasons for possible complications and cases of recurrence then effective tips to prevent those complications and possible recurrence, slanting it towards other topics which most of your members would most likely be interested in, such as healthy skin and bone health regimen, weight maintenance advice, healthy dietary recipes and body and mind exercise programs, then you can slant that content type to professional career growth, family management advice and home and lifestyle tips, which could in turn be slanted towards spending more time with the family and doing things they want by running online businesses. Just my opinions and ideas though, and I'm sure there are other topics which could be relevant branches of the primary topics your members were interested in when they signed up to your mailing list.

Marx said pretty much what I was going to say.

If it's a condition that can reoccur then offer them an ebook (paid or free) on how to prevent it from coming back or how to lesson the severity if it does. And, of course, since you have some demographics for your list you can always find out what that particular demographic wants and give it to them. As Marx suggested, healthy skin, hair, nails, bones, etc. Whatever it is that a majority of your list would like.

Rather than chance sending information about such things to people who joined your list specifically to get rid of Condition X, you could always start a new list specifically for the other topics. Just send a message to your current list that you've started another list about healthy skin (or whatever) and you're inviting them to join. If your list trusts you then when you say you've started a new list they'll join--assuming they're interested in it, of course.

This keeps your lists segmented into "people with Condition X" and "people interested in healthy skin" and "people interested in fitness" and so on. You'll have a much easier time promoting to them if you have a list specific to each product/niche you want to promote rather than a single list with everyone on it and trying to promote all kinds of things to it.

A simple way to monetize is create more content relevant to the ailment. Then put adsense or try some banners/clickbank/affiliate banners (test them through some adservice technology like openx). Send weekly emails and send them to those pages. I make $20 - $50 extra each time I actually send an email to a list very simlar. My list is over 5k but It is also not something I put as much time in as I should. However it works.

        Glad I could help out.

It seems obvious: make separate lists so that you can target individuals with specific interests. Sometimes you just need someone to point things like that out though. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone tell me something that should have been obvious but wasn't for whatever reason.

        NEXT QUESTION:

Since my e-book I sell is a for a condition/illness, what would be a good potential UPSELL?

I COULD try it in a different format (audio/video) as the upsell...

        Any ideas about this?
Off the top of my head:

        (1) You could create a "When to See Your Doctor" type of product if the symptoms of the condition could be confused with something more serious. A sort of, "You think you have X, but you could potentially have Y. Learn the facts in this ebook" sort of thing.

        (2) If diet plays any part in them having the condition in the first place you could create a product that teaches them how/what to eat to prevent the condition from returning. Do some research to find out what foods help/cause/prevent the condition and then find recipes using those ingredients. From what I understand, recipes can't be copyrighted since they're just a list of items so you should be safe with just finding any recipe to use. Check with someone more knowledgeable first though.

        (3) Something to do with preventing related conditions and illnesses might work. For example, if the condition were a skin condition such as eczema you might also try selling an ebook on the prevention/cure of a skin condition such as psoriasis. I don't know if the two are linked in reality or not as it's just an example. You would have to do some research to see if there's a link between the condition your original ebook is about and some other condition. If there is, there's your upsell or second product since if they have one condition a certain percentage of your customers probably have the other as well.

        (4) Your idea of providing the same information (or, better yet an expanded version) in a new format is an old marketing trick. It's an old marketing trick because it works. Just make sure you price it appropriately. Audio should be priced higher than text and video should be priced higher than audio. It's all about the perceived value and how much faster and easier it makes the content to digest. Fast and easy come at a premium cost, after all. If it takes the customer 3 hours to read an ebook but only 45 minutes to watch the video and they get the same information (or even more from the video) then the video should be priced substantially higher.

Hope that helps and sparks some ideas.

The problem is I'm not sure how I can make more money from this list.

I sell a product in the remedy/cure niche. So, when people have this condition, they find me, signup for my newsletter or buy my product, then they don't need me anymore once the condition goes away.

My auto-responder with them lasts for no more than 10 days, because 95% of the cases their condition is gone.

I can tell you I've surveyed my list and about 70% of them are women, most being in their 30's and up.

    QUESTIONS:

How can I make more money from this list?

How can I add more value to them and build a better relationship with them, so it doesn't turn into a "stale list"?
You're doing well with this product/ list. Other posters have given you some excellent advice, so I won't rehash it.

    Here's what I'd do...

You're selling a successful product, so you know how the product creation/ sales/ list-creation/ list maintenance process works.

Now it's time to use what you know how to do -- create another product.

Put just as much time and energy into this new venture as you did into the first product, and of course create another list.

Since you're more experienced now, you'll be in profit more quickly.

Then you'll have two lists. :-)

BTW, be sure to let List #1 members know that you have a new product. Whatever health issue you choose several of that first list will buy. Most people have multiple minor health issues, or they'll know someone who would be interested in your new product.

Once product two and its list is up and running, put some thought into your overall "health product" strategy.

Then create product #3 and its list...

By the time you get done with that one, you can cross-promote your lists, and become a real health product guru. :-)

At that stage, it's time to contact owners of large health sites, and make them special offers if they'll promote your products....

Onward -- you know how things work, now it's time to use what you know.

I wish you all success. :-)
