Article submissions - your own site, or article sites?

Hey everyone,

Ok I've read a lot of both sides of the story, I'd like a couple more opinions please.

Brand new site, no backlinks yet created, content is ready, and it could go live (i dunno if it'd make any affiliate money, but it could go live lol).

Some people have said something along the lines of:

Write articles
Put articles on ezine articles / articlebase/ squidoo etc
'Spinn' articles by paying someone on Fiverr.com
Wait for backlinks

OR some argue that I should ONLY put articles on my website (eg original content).

Write articles
Add htem as content on my site.
Social media them (eg digg / squidoo / reddit / delicious)
Wait for backlinks...

It's obviously not that simple I'm just looking in very basic terms. I can see the first option would get you a lot more backlinks ,but option 2 will make your site look a lot better content wise.

    I choose to put only original content on most of my sites - that doesn't mean that you should do the same though. I only do it because I sell alot of my sites (site flipping is part of my business model), and sites are worth more with unique content.

    I know alot of people submit the content to their own sites and once it is indexed then submit it to Ezinearticles and other sites.

    Why not do both?

    Write articles for your site that are focused on your keywords, and also write articles for directory submissions, but don't use the exact keywords that you are targeting with your site. Then you can social bookmark the articles on your site and the articles in the article directories.

    Seems like a lot of work I know, but once you get rolling, you can always outsource pretty much everything if you get tired of doing it yourself.

      This was a dilemma I struggled with early on as well, and still do to a degree. I would keep the content on your own site 100% unique, while spinning articles to the directories.

    I agree with Dula14 and others.

    Put the original content on your site:
    Then put on top 10 article directories
    Then submit (mass submission) through other article sources and web 2.0. Spread the links between your website and your articles on the top 10 directories. This is a VERY effective strategy.

    This is a basic strategy but that should get you going at first. Do NOT forget about pinging and social bookmarking (preferable automated). You can find folks to social bookmark on Fiverr.
