  • It's not always about the backlinks. Sites from inner pages show up as backlinks as well, so sometimes it might seem that a site has thousands of backlinks while in reality they are inner links.

    For analyzing competition check how many total results are normally and in quotations search. Then you can try adding allintitle:"keyphrase" as well. Just as an indicator.

    I usually make a list of results in an excel file and choose 3-5 keyphrases that have the best search/competition ratio.
