Building Traffic To Build A List

Hi,

I am looking at ways I can build TONS of traffic to my squeeze page in order to build a list really fast.

My target subscriber is an internet marketer who wants to make money online from building their list.

I am digging for more ways to build a list really fast.

I want to know how YOU build your list and what are the various traffic ways you use to build your list.

Thanks.

Regards,
Ronak Shah

    Hi Ronak,

Just so I understand this correctly...

You are asking about how to get traffic, so that you can build a list. And that email list that you are creating, will be teaching other people how to build their own email lists?

If thats right, it sounds like to me, you are trying to teach people how to do something you are still learning about? If I was in your position and doing that, I'd find it very difficult coming up with ideas and content to give to that list, and I would constantly question whether the advice I was giving was actually helpful or harmful to my subscriber's lives and businesses.

I am not trying to be critical or overly negative, but I do think you might be making things harder on yourself through trying to teach something you are still a new student of yourself. I'd usually recommend starting building a list in a niche/topic area that you understand and are a bit of an expert in. I think that makes the process easier, more enjoyable, and also more beneficial to your subscribers.

But thats just my opinion. I am going to answer your questions now and try and help you with the traffic element of list building.

There are three broad approaches I would take, depending on your circumstances.

    Approach 1: Article Marketing

If I didn't have any money to spend on traffic, but I had quite a bit of time, then I would initially generate traffic using article marketing. I have been using that traffic source lately and it has been doing okay for me in the last couple of months. It does take a fair amount of your time though, and I think it is important to be consistent with it (which I haven't been!).

    Approach 2: Paid Traffic

If I had some money to invest, I'd spend it on buying some traffic. I'd probably be likely to use the Google Display network, PPV and MSN Adcenter to buy this traffic. I'd stick to one paid traffic source, get comfortable with it, improve my skills and then move on to other traffic sources.

    Approach 3: Affiliate Model

If I was limited in terms of time and money, or if I just wanted to take a longer term approach to my business, I'd look to try and sell a product and encourage affiliates to drive traffic to it.

I'd make a great product, list it some where like Clickbank, and make sure it is very attractive to affiliates. Good conversions, good product, good commissions etc. I'd actively recruit affiliates, be very responsive to their emails and questions and bend over backwards to help them.

This approach takes some time, but the difference is, I think you get a bigger return on investment of your time with this approach than you do writing articles or doing exclusively paid traffic. There are also residual benefits to approach 3, in that you are creating business contacts and relationships with people who you might be able to help, or be helped by in future.

So broadly speaking, those would be my three approaches.

As a bonus approach; I'd join a relevant forum, drop a link in my signature link to the squeeze page and make sure I used some good anchor text with a strong call to action.

    All the best with it.

As I said I am digging for more ways to build a list really fast, this is part of my research exercise to know the most prevalent ways people use to build a list fast.

There could be ways I don't know of which could send humongous amounts of traffic to a squeeze page.

It's great that Alex (above) offered some of the best ways to build a list fast. I loved your advice and thank you for it.

You could try a twist on the standard article marketing idea. Instead of writing an article and submitting it to EzineArticles or another directory and hoping that people see it, why not go where you know the traffic is and you know people will see it instead. This could take a bit more time but in the long run you should get much more targeted traffic that is likely to sign up to the list.

What you do is write a good quality article on a topic of interest to the people you want to join your list. Next, use Google to search for blogs in your niche (Google "your niche" and on the results page, click the "More" tag on the left and then click "Blogs" to search just blogs; you'll get better results). Contact the blog owners and tell them that you have an article and you'd like to have them take a look at it and consider posting it to their blog. It helps, of course, if you are a reader of the blog to begin with. You can flatter them a little about how much you enjoy reading it and how you feel you have something that you can contribute to the site.

If they're interested, send them the article. Be sure you have a resource box at the bottom with a link to your squeeze-page, or just ask the blogger to link to your site with whatever anchor text you choose. Since you know the blog has readers and you know those readers are interested in your topic it should be fairly easy to build a good size list by getting just a few bloggers to agree to post your article.

You may have to contact quite a few people to get this to happen. Try about 10 per day and at the end of the month you'll have contacted 300 blog owners. Someone is bound to agree to it. Since many bloggers need fresh content to share with their readers anyway, they might as well get it from you. You could also "sweeten the deal" by giving them exclusive rights to the article. That way they get fresh and unique content. You'll just have to write a new article for each blogger this way.

        Good luck.

It's not fast, but then I don't think speed is the biggest priority with list building. You want quality subscribers. Trust me on this - you can make as much or more money from 500 quality subscribers than you can from 10,000 freebie seekers on your list. That's what I would teach about it. But if you're going for the numbers approach, then you want to try ad swaps and buying solo ads. Especially in the IM niche. There are a lot of people with IM lists who will sell you an ad or be open to swapping emails to their list. You can grow a list very quickly if you aggressively go after that approach.

Just remember - with ad swaps and solo ads, you're adding subscribers who are on a lot of other IM lists. And you're giving away your own subscribers to other IM lists (with ad swaps). Is that really what you want?

        Hi Ronak,

To get quality subscribers don't build your list too quickly, as hurrying causes one to engage in counterproductive marketing strategies.

        Force negates.

I would focus on building a quality list by providing quality value over a consistent period of time.

Big list numbers that come in quickly go out like the tide. Slow and steady is the way to go.

Here is a Thread about How I am
on track to build a 100K list in 12 Months

      http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...12-months.html

As was mentioned above I am using Ad Swaps

Yes they are Freebie Seekers, But they also Buy if
      you give a good offer

Yes they are on a Million lists .. But if you think
you are ever going to have an exclusive list no matter
WHAT you do you are kidding yourself

As time goes on I am building a relationship with them
and will move them over to a VIP List

I don't have such kinda money wherein you invest $250 to get 500 subscribers nor do I think it's a great idea to keep doing ad swaps on a regular basis.

There has to be another way to increase the number of subscribers. And yes, I am looking at buyers, not just subscribers.

Create a product you could sell for $100.

Sell it for $50 and pay 100% commission.

    Contact affiliates.

    Profit.

Some people tells just create an articles with strong density keyword then submitting to ezinearticles, but that way works for an autoblog player.

You want people to optin to your list? Give them an irresistible deal first of all. Then take that deal and spend $20 targeting your exact prospect with a facebook ad. Yes a whole $20! If you can't afford $20 then get away from your computer and go mow one person's lawn (in Chicago it would now be shoveling snow) or however many it takes. There you have your budget. BTW, how long would it take you to mow that lawn? An hour tops? Or you can sit on your laptop doing all sorts of 'free' traffic techniques for 8 hours. I love how we have bought into this idea that our time is somehow 'free'.
If no one from facebook wants your offer then you are never going to sell it anywhere else, trust me. The greatest thing we have right now is facebook's laser focus of interests for customers. Why do you think Google is wetting their pants over FB? No one can provide marketers the value Fb does. Use it.

Solo ads is one of the fastest and greatest way to build your list, so even if you don't want to do adswaps, make sure to invest in solo ads to speed up the process.

Plus with solo ads, your name and product will be seen on other marketers list. You'll become an "expert" on your subject by association, so I think that this shouldn't be neglected.

If you don't have the money now, make sure to reinvest whatever you earn. Plus Andy's method is another excellent way (if not the best), to grow a list of buyers at light speed. You don't even have to pay anything upfront, so I would go with this one.
