I recently read of a warrior haveing or wanting to set up 500 niche sites. I'm somewhat perplexed how anyone can maintain that many sites and have them all seo prepared properly. Any insites would be helpful and appreciated.

you would notice they use various software to automate the process
I'd suggest starting out with 10 first and see how long it takes you to create/maintain them
once you get a hang of stuff, maybe it'd be quicker to scale things up

If you are a newbie I would start off with 1. Find out the ins and outs and best practices, lesson learned. Document what works and what doesnt. Then move on to scale with more.

For someone new one site is overwhelming. Too often entrepreneurs get caught up in the hype and potential of X number of sites. If each one makes $5 dollars I can make $XX,XXX per month. That is all well and good if you actually know what you are doing.

Only way to really succeed is to focus, then systematize... t hen scale

This is purely my opinion. Don't believe the hype. It takes work regardless of what niche or system you use. Most important thing is to JUST TAKE ACTION.

The first few sites should created and maintained by yourself.

Get them to a level where they are producing an income and re invest the money into hiring an outsourcer.

Have your outsourcer build and maintain some more sites using the same techniques you originally used to build your first few. When this next set starts producing an income, re invest the money into another outsourcer.

      Rinse and repeat!

  • Well said by Damon Greene!

When I started out, 1 website made my mind explode!

Now I can handle several rather easily.

Get started, get 1, and develop a process.
Then as you get faster, burn and turn.

    Excellent advice across the board!!

I agree completely, start off with one site & go from there. No matter what type of sites you do, there's always a big learning curve. In most cases you need to understand domain registrars, the software you have your site(s) on, basic hosting/server stuff, some HTML/PHP, etc. There's a lot that goes along with creating/maintaining a website. It's impossible to foresee all of the things you will need to learn along the way & all the barriers you will need to get past. It's great the have goals & a plan, but it's equally important to take it one step at a time!! One of the biggest mistakes I've made to date (and continue to make) is getting spread too thin. If you find yourself working on 7 different projects it makes it impossible to do more than maintain on any of them. I say focus on one, maximize it, and then as you get the means to outsource stuff you can start to expand.

Use a template for building sites quickly. And, if you plan on having very many niche sites, begin now to keep track of all your sites' info using a spreadsheet such as Excel; one line per site.

I think that sometimes it is easy to get sidetracked, especially when you have a ton of ideas about what you want to do. Focus and action are key. And that is sometimes easier said than done.

Hi Stews, I tried PMing you but couldn't. You may want to read over the WF signature rules. My plugin that you have in your signature isn't allowed. You can only promote your own products in your signature. Just a heads-up.
