Which Membership Scripts Is Similar To This One?

Alright guys

I have been using the membership script called simplememberpro for about over a year now, see here SimpleMemberPro PHP Membership Site Script . However I have across a problem which is all my own fault so now I need to look for another membership script that has similiar are even more features to what simple member pro.

I do not have a paypal account anymore so I need to find one that allows to use other payment processors. That is the only reason I am looking for another script. They only accept paypal and that's it..

    Hi Byron,

I think that you will simply have to do some searches for membership site scripts and then evaluate the pros and cons of what you find. The problem is that there are many scripts out there, but none will ever be an exact fit with or for what you want, so compromise is the name of the game. I found that out.

I have used SMP for a couple of years and am now updating using the latest December 2010 version. I must say, that I had never contemplated the situation of not having a PayPal account, as I didn't realise until I read your post, that it only functions using PayPal as a payment processor. Probably because PayPal was my intended payment processor, when I purchased the original script.

    Perhaps I've got tunnel vision!

I have used a few membership scripts in my time, but it's impossible to recommend any one, as they all have very different functionality and benefits. I can only suggest, as I have above, searching and then trialling various scripts, in order to get the 'best fit' for what you want.

The majority of scripts will let you try them as both a member and an administrator.

I appreciate that my post has been of little practicable help to you, but I wish you the very best of luck in your search.

    Regards,

    Jeff.

At the time I was considering between to Amember pro and Simplemember pro. But because the owner of simplememberpro did me a special favour and because I had paypal I never ever thought what if I didn't have paypal (never thought I would be out with it)

I recommend Membership software - aMember Pro

It's very well known in the IM arena. It works well right out of the box and if you ever need any customizing done, they are more than happy to do it for you. I've had quite a few modifications made to the script because I like to make things tricky.

    Anyway, good piece of kit.

Showing you my member site would not achieve much at all. Amember works in a way where you just create a folder on your domain and put whatever you want inside that folder/membership. You then choose which folder(s) belong to which products to determine who has access to that folder.

So when people login they are taken straight to the index page of the folder/product they have purchased. So you can customize the entire look of the membership site - the design is totally up to you. What you put inside that folder is your choice.

        I hope that makes sense.

Let's say that 90% of folks online all have PayPal accounts. That includes the vast majority of people who'd join your site. So for you to be saying, "I need to find a script that works with something OTHER than PayPal because *I* cannot use PayPal" is like saying, "Help! I only speak an obscure dialect of Swahili and I need a membership script that is set up to work with it."

The Good News is ... there's always hope that you'll find a script like that.

The Bad News is ... only a tiny fraction of your potential customers will be able to use it.

People don't remember this, but eBay could have purchased PayPal for $400M. Instead they opted to buy some half-assed credit card processing arm from a "Big Bank" for $275M and watched as it died a fairly fast death since nobody would use it. They made it harder and harder to use PayPal, and they were honestly surprized that they couldn't seem to shake people away from using PayPal. So their revenue growth slowed. Finally, they decided to buy PayPal, but ended up paying ... what? ... a few billion or so?

The solution is simple: set up an LLC, get a bank account, then set up a PayPal account in the LLC's name!

      What is an LLC???

Also I don't mind people paying me if they have a got paypal account, but then I have got to work out how I AM actually going to get paid! Hope that make sense. I am the one who doesn't have a paypal account and allowed one!

For example if you sell something on clickbank it gives you two options for paying for an item, either via credit card or via paypal. But then when clickbank actually pays you they send out a cheque

You could always set up your product for sale on Clickbank. They take one-time and recurring payments. There are several scripts that work with Clickbank. And they also offer direct deposits to a checking or savings account via ACH transfers.

An LLC is like a Corporation. It's a separate business entity with it's own TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number, like a Social Security Number, but for business entities). You can set up a PayPal account in the name of the business using its TIN. You should have your Treasurer or CFO file it, though, so it's not in your name. (don't have one? be creative.)
